Turn Items

Recommended Posts

The ability to turn items in the backpack for example: a trumpet is vertical when I press right click ''turn item" (it will only turn if there is space for turning) then it will be horizontal

This has been suggested plenty of times, and I'm almost certain that we will see this when the new UI is fully in place. Be patient my friend!

Remember that if we could rotate items, you could fit a full-size rifle in any bag bigger than a Taloon.  It'll require you to stop and pull off your bag before accessing it in order to keep people from quick-drawing their secret AKM while at a full run.

I think this is the point: to play the puzzle game without being able to turn things into place. I've first seen this system in Deus Ex and it was good fun then and still is a good system. Most items are either 1x1 or 1x2 or 4x4 or any version of the afore mentioned (e.g. 2x1), so you can already place them intelligently without rotating things around. And then you have stuff like the trumpet and fertilizer, which cost a lot of space and can best be kept at camp for backup. I would never carry these around with me for very long. Just dump that stuff in a tent and organise the rest in your inventory.

What I could imagine is that you can rotate that stuff inside a tent, but not inside your backpack.

Personally I sort of like being unable to rotate items with the current inventory system. It works as a sort of organic method of preventing someone from placing something somewhere that it wouldn't actually fit, i.e. a pocket system (for example, a full bag of garden lime won't fit in cargo pants in real life, rotating won't help...I realize there are many exceptions though, it is in no way a perfect system). I will support object rotation if the current inventory system is replaced with an individual pocket system (not just one slot group for each piece of clothing).

Not too sure if you've seen the new inventory system but that will prevent the garden lime scenario, etc.
