Tents and persistence. Again

Can a server admin force a restart such that it deletes apparently persistent content such as tents and gardens? Last night I went to some pains building camps with both on public clan servers. Now all has disappeared. And these were in seriously out of the way places on the map.

I still don t get how cam be called persistence if u have to pack it up once a week or if too many restart screw it.

Sry if i wrote iditic things not playing from a lot things may have been changed.

The stupidiest thing is that devs speak just like politicians and mass media :D - they write in changelog that "persistence forced" but really persistence is broken.

Something wasn't right with .55 so the reset it onece and now they're not sticking on some or all servers. I only play on one and have lost 2 tents and 2 bags the first time and a bag I put down as a test last night.

i've been carrying my damn tent since the patch hit. haven't found a bag big enough to fit it and i'm sure as hell not trusting "persistence"... granted, haven't found any bullets for my blaze so i guess it's not really such an inconvenience yet lol

I think we'd all find it a bit easier to put up with the ever increasing masochism of the game if some of the things people say have been fixed really were fixed.

Fix tent persistence and I'm good to go. I love .55 otherwise.

love .55! shows a lot of what to come when it realy will turn in to a game... and if you dont understand why they forced presitance on us read the dam dev blogs.... the experimental "world" was to small to test the system on. awsome alpha so far!

FYP. Chill out - we do understand. Perhaps you might try to understand why this would all be a lot cooler if the things we were constantly promised for patch X actually happened.

I've lost four tents in the past two days.. but its good to know now that its a waste of time to find them and put them down anyways. They really shouldnt call it 'Persistence' when there is really nothing persistent about it. Imho they just needed to word it differently. For example, 'Trying a new persistence method' or 'Testing loot persistence' with some kind of disclaimer saying that it isnt promised to work.

Uhmm, I think we click a big red I UNDERSTAND after the blurb about things may or may not work every time we play?

 

I agree a little update on progress or at least "we're out for the long weekend see you Tuesday" would be nice though.

 

I'm frustrated a hell with this situation because it was working for me on Wednesday and the some blurb about "sorry we had to reset persistence once" and then fucking up my whole four day weekend I'd left open to play around with the "new and improved working persistence".

 

I'm geared and have enough food to stat doing squirrel runs from a camp to towns but no camp means no point.

I know, I know.. the big I understand button. yeah yeah yeah. I've been clicking it since the day DayZ SA was released. Still doesnt change the fact that they 'Force persistence' and say its 'working' when its blatantly not.

It certainly doesn't help with good faith but it is a fairly adequate way to cover their asses if something doesn't work. I do it all the time wording stuff vaguely or saying "I believe" instead of "I know" etc. not that it makes it right but that's how the world works, especially business.

 

logged in after seeing the pics of IReadTheAgreemnet's camp and almost immediately found a pristine civ tent. Not quite ready to try it with that so I whipped up an improvised courier bag plopped it down and will check tomorrow.

Thing is, whether or not persistence is broken on some servers, persistence is still forced. That's not really up for debate at all. My tent and vehicles have survived multiple restarts.

Lost two tents so far in my own testing, out of the way too.

Ive seen another couple but whats the point.

To be able to play the game how you want it played , tents have to be able to stay , not vanish

And yes they have to word things like politicians and even if you do people these days are like little kids screaming "you promised!".

 

I get it when you're making something as complex as a video game especially the way they're adding and replacing "modules" like they're doing with this one you "fix" one thing and "break" two unrelated things sometimes.

 

I'd like to hear a little more word on the hows and whys of the persistence working on some servers and not on others so I can understand and either work around it or make other plans besides trying it.

 

A big one that would have been a good announcement for transparency would be is it a holiday weekend there too? My customers have to wait 4 days to get me to do anything because of it, that I could understand.

It seems fairly obvious that this is a holiday weekend right?

 

I'm not familiar with the Czechoslovakian religious calendar nor their statutory work holidays.

 

I've got to say this isn't the first time someone's "broke my game" for a long weekend I've set aside to play and I should be used to it but it still hurts. :(

hmm, after reporting tents not persisting earlier...

 

one tent another person has put down, and one i put down...both (civvy tents) just survived a server restart (private single server 'hive')

 

Restart was 17:00 Australian Eastern Time, 5APR2015

Well I can tell you first hand, I put down a civi tent at about 1pm EST. Came back online (same server obviously) around 5pm EST and it was gone. It would seem civi tents are fairly common, I find one every couple of hours. I wouldn't suggest hanging on to the one you have unless you absolutely have space for it.
