I don't understand

Recommended Posts

so as the title says i don't get how folks are starving or having such trouble with zeds or melee why are you trying to go man to man with a crazed infected that should be a last resort.

i looted elektro and didn't have any zed trouble till i left and i ran and hid and they couldn't find me and wandered off its much easier than before hell i don't even carry a melee weapon anymore except a knife and hatchet and they are used as tools not weapons.

as for food i always hunted and farmed as well as i use apples and berries when i need to, food is a non-issue for me again i don't understand how folks are starving food is literally roaming the map or waiting to be grown or harvested.

i honeslty think the game is easier to play the way the zeds work you don't get agro form 800m away you get a zed on you you made a mistake or atleast in my case when i play that the case. i have come to the conclusion that dayz has added natural selection to the game its become authentic as folks that don't hunt or use there brain die and to me thats the way it should be. hope some of you get an idea how to adjust as i don't want folks to leave the game yet i don't want to read or see 100 posts bitching about things that work pretty well or things that are a result of them not changing a playstyle or using mechanics that are in the game in that case its not the game its the player.

Well, lots of issues here. For 16 months this was a PvP game, as pve was too easy to take seriously. Now, pve is a lot more challenging. I think most people have no desire for dayz farming, and only a few have a desire for pig and cow hunting. They might tolerate it, but it is mostly a time sink that will be required for PvP to continue. This patch almost 100% flips the focus of the game. I expect a lot of posts complaining, and I know the developers appreciate the feedback. Hooray for finally seeing progress on real mechanics. Let's hope we see such gains on future patches.

Farm simulator with zombies - dayz; hey why not go pick apples for 3 hrs and see no one. This game direction WILL NOT sell imho, me and my buds have all hopped off dayz until pvp is back.

You and your buds can find plenty of PvP in CoD pal.

See ya in your next post where you ask how you get your money back.

Dilligaf about the 35 bucks? No, but anyone of my friends who want to buy this game i am going to suggest farm simulator. Survivalist 101 find a farm, a tractor and infinite profit (gets boring after a bit). Last time i checked this game was supposed to be fun and skillful. Persistence on and off servers were a great substitute for separating the two perspectives of play style. No loot, No play.

Haha, of course I know the difference, It's a real shame that some people evidently don't.

I can't blame folk for undesirable big game changing mechanics and gameplay.. the Devs have been far too accommodating and lenient while testing this game.. and unfortuantely now it's time to go back to it's roots, they are gonna have to put up with this crap.

how is it that the negative posts allways come from some scrub with 4 post overall.  Survival IS a skill...dayZ started as "anti game" time for it to return to that. ;)

What i don't understand is people complaining at this point of the game, it's an alpha and i am sure there will be lot's of changes between now and beta.

For me the game is fine at the moment, not perfect but i was never expecting it to be anyway especially as we are still months away from a beta test.

Can you please define what you mean by "anti game"? I am pretty sure it was a mod which is more or less a leach of an existing game, you realize that this is the zombie warfare of the prepubescent era of amra 2. Seems like you're trying to pull off the OG swag stance and i am throwing on the hater blockers. >_>

You realize the guy who created the mod is the same guy who created the standalone, right?   His name is Dean Hall and he called it the " anti-game"   The only remnants of the mod people remember is a bastardized version called Epoch which was a dumbed down rip off.

imo it was the anti-game because it introduced perma-death i.e. you don't respawn with all your gear after you die. Typically you die in other games you just go back a bit and have all the gear you had. That was the anti part. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think this is the key for me. I see what has happened, and I expect a whole heck of a lot of changes between now and beta release in 2019, or whenever it gets released. The game is about 25% done. I don't expect a final opinion until I see it near full release. I have played, taken long breaks, and played again. I expect that cycle to continue for many more months.

Plenty of people, including the devs, have said this but some still don't get it...so here it is again.

DayZ is NOT a PvP but a SURVIVAL game. Is there some PvP in it? Ofcourse! But that is and will not be the games focus. It was only PvP focused earlier due to testing focus and player choices.

Devs also don't care much what YOU want the game to be. They are making the game THEY want to make and allowing us 'some' input. These were not my opinions, it's what the devs have said.

To anyone using the term 'farm simulator'...I have survived without farming a single thing. This is also not a constructive comment in anyway, only shows ignorance.

Did farming since its early implementation. did "low slots" looting i.e. --> jeans/ 6slot uppergarment, vest if i find one, crafted pack since ages.

I dont have problems to adapt at all. Heck i take great enjoiment in cleaning little towns from Z´s with a sporter :D allthewhile i wait for the crops to grow and than move on after a hefty vegi salat buffet.

the only sad thing about the change is that i dont play "the long dark" as much anymore since DayZ finaly gets the Survival part activated :D

In that case you want:

ARMA III: Wasteland Mod

No zombies all the tactical fight of DayZ plus more. You typically start with a pistol and need to find slightly better gear. From there you can do missions or capture points to earn money to buy better gear or even vehicles. Meanwhile all those other players/groups out there are doing the opposite.

how could player play in dayz with backpack full of ammo and arsenal enough to start a WW3 and have absolute or bare minimum food or survival kits? Go look at most of the post your gears and youtubers...

You can still have that but now you need to jack people up for food and might get shot back and zeds onto you as well

I don't see why they are mutually exclusive.  Back in the Mod, I killed players because I desperately needed food or antibiotics or whatever.  In the SA, people just kill because there isn't much else to do.

That's the great thing about DayZ. You want to build a farm off in some far-flung corner of the map, you can do that.

You want to survive by killing players for their canned goods, that's an option.

Hell, you want to patrol the coast road eating people, you can do that now.

I don't know.  Personally I think the game works fine.  Sure the zombies need to be polished up and the loot balanced and bugs fixed and whatnot.  But this is the essence of the game.  Long hours of tedious boredom, punctuated by terror, followed by either rage or euphoria.

Yeah  but what I don't get is all this crap about it not being a Zombie/pvp game. Sure Dean wanted a pure survival game but he realized why the mod worked and didn't want to mess with the formula. People want Zombie and  PVP games you just have to look at the market. Farm sims? Not so much and even Minecraft has its monsters.

When I've asked people about DayZ those that have heard about go 'Oh yeah that Zombie game'. Nobody mentions it as a survival game because everyone wants to play at the Walking Dead.

Would it have even got off the ground of a Standalone without Z's? I very much doubt it.

I'm loving the game at the moment a very good balance and no rain!!

You can't judge what a game should be by what you think is market popular. DayZ still stands tall, despite several new titles coming out every year. They all eventually fizzle. People THINK they want full on PVP until they realize there are 1000 other games just like it. Everyone though WarZ was going to kill Dayz....everyone thought 7 days to die was going to kill DayZ, same with H1Z1, Rust, Dead Linger, Contagion, etc.

All games who tried to rip DayZ off and add more PVP....all titles other than H1Z1 right now are dead.

Why can't DayZ finally be the ONE game that stands true to hardcore survival from all elements, not just PVP?

Yeah but market forces drive game development just like in the movie industery. That's why we have a lot of crap blockbuster films.

Most of the games you mentioned are pants. Nothing to do with them not being a hardcore survival sim or not.

DayZ hasn't been a HC survival sim either,  It's been a zombie survival horror game with pvp and survival elements.

This is how it should remain.

I actually think some of the survival nuts would be happy to have all the Z's removed.

There are many "Forum people" who want nothing but a hardcore game. It's now gotten to the point where realism is thrown out the window. These elitists think only their opinion matters, even when it's in the minority. Most players want the game to be realistic. This product right now is not realistic by any means what so ever.

I don't understand that either.  I remember when I first heard about the Mod, I googled a few YouTube videos.  One of the first ones I came across was a video of some guys picking up some new spawns in a bus, driving them in the dark to the middle of nowhere and making them fight to the death inside a circle of barbwire, campfires and road flares.

I like that even on a full server, it still has an I Am Legend feel to it as if you are wandering around as possibly the last man on Earth.

IMHO, between the elements, starving, dying of thirst or getting sick, simply surviving DayZ should be a challenge.

Then you throw in killer 28 Days Later rage zombies everywhere.

Oh and by the way, there are other players you'll encounter from time to time and they all behave like they are infected with the virus from The Crazies that turns everyone into murderous psychopaths.
