BroskyBro 21 Posted March 19, 2015 Okay, so I was watching a youtube video the other day and some guy had the "hot" status in an area I had been a million times in the same gear I used there. I'm just wondering how he was hot and I wasn't?
pilgrim* 3514 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) ^Hes been running? Different stress? Different blood/food/hydration level? Maybe the sun was out? He was 'stuffed' ? The effect of these things linked together is really quite complex and not obvious.. I saw a youtube video showing (claiming) that if you run you bleed out slower than if you stand still(or was it - if you've been running a lot, you suffer less damage from a hit than if you've been standing still?)whatever..My idea is that these things work together to give you a feeling for what's happening, instead of having the usual game list of percentages in the corner of the screen. once you have five or six variables going on together, no one is ever going to be exactly the same as the next guy, however similar they dress. I looked at the Mod yesterday, after a long while away, and I was surprised because I'd forgotten the icons in the lower right screen to show hydration, blood etc.. There has been a lot of design planning right back from the start to get those player-state icons out of the game, so you feel "how you are" as much as possible instead of having a numbered list. schwaBAM 200 Posted March 19, 2015 He also could've been standing close to a fire prior to the video starting.

blunce 991 Posted March 19, 2015 Ghillie or no ghillie? Extremely relevant^ Only time I've experienced "hot" was while wearing a ghillie. & a banana hammock.
pilgrim* 3514 Posted March 19, 2015 So it comes down to - Were these two guys wearing ghillies ?I think I had a 'hot' once about two patches ago (when it came in) but it lasted 1 warning and then it rained for 5 days

Evil Minion 943 Posted March 21, 2015 Clothing, weather and movement are major factors. If you are wearing a ghillie suit at a sunny day while sprinting you will get hot really fast. The ghillie is "worst" in this regard as it replaces your backpack which doesn't do much in terms of keeping you warm but other clothing (quilted jacket etc.) can alos cause the "hot" status (which isn't that bad if you have regular access to water). emuthreat 2837 Posted March 21, 2015 Pristine waterproof clothing such as a raincoat or Gorka jacket can also get the heat a-rising, especially if you sprint. I usually just lay down in a creek for a few seconds, and try to run in the shade. The shade makes a difference; I tested it running from Novo to Ratnoe. Even after a few seconds out in the open, I started heating up; back into the shade and temperature stabilizes.
The_Habu 2 Posted March 27, 2015 I have had the Hot status while wearing a quilted jacket when it was sunny out. As soon as I took it off the Hot message went away.
