Schwabba 1 Posted March 6, 2015 Hi everybody, as we know, there are sometimes good reasons for changing the server you just played on. Sadly you never know if you get a penalty or not. I dont know how the penalty system work at all. But there are moments when a server crashes and you can't join this server again. Since the latest update i had the problem that my game crashed every 20 minutes and i did'nt knew on what server i've played. Then you join an other server and get a penalty. That's not how it should work. So a very simple protection of getting a penalty for no reason would be a little dialog that says "if you join this server, you will get a penalty" or "you have to wait X minutes before you can change the server". Would be so much better. Hope you can include something like that.Thanks.
jurionov37 22 Posted March 6, 2015 what penalty are you exactly talking about?
moeb1us 91 Posted March 6, 2015 The ridiculous 60 seconds timer. This used to be 300 seconds and I would take the old system back any day. Fuck server hoppers.
trujuice 56 Posted March 6, 2015 There is no "Server Hopping Penalty", as you put it, that I am aware of. There are different type of servers i.e. 1pp public, 1/3pp public, 1pp private, 1/3private, 1pp exp, 1/3pp exp. Is it possible that you are mistakenly joining a different server type which is causing what appears to be a character wipe to you. If this is not the case there are some unstable servers that can crash and/or cause a corrupt character profile to be pushed up to the central shard hive resulting in a characters wipe. Community, keep me honest here there is not any such thing as a "Server Hopping Penalty" is there? I typcially play on only three different servers and stay on them until not receiving. trujuice 56 Posted March 6, 2015 Oh, OP are you talking about the spawn countdown? That is about as "penalizing" as a mosquito bit.
Schwabba 1 Posted March 6, 2015 Well it happened multiple times that i join a server and bein a bambi and somewhere else on the map. That this happens on private servers is totally clear. But it was always on public hives. And even if you accidentally join a private server, should'nt your stuff be back as soon as you go back to the public servers? I mean it's gone - always - and it never comes back. Yesterday it happened that only my backpack was gone.. well that was new to me.
Inception. 9443 Posted March 6, 2015 If it's merely a matter of a timer, surely you could wait it out, especially if it is only sixty seconds?

I agree with you, but still also like the 300 second penalty for server hopping. What if the countdown timer wasn't a hard number and instead based on the amount of time spent on that server. Leaving within the first couple seconds would leave you with a 300 second timer, and leaving at 30 minutes would leave you with a 0 second timer. The timer would gradually reduce itself over the course of that 30 minutes. Every minute you are in game reduces the timer by 10 seconds until 0. For example, leaving after 15 minutes would give you a 150 second timer, 20 minutes would give you a 100 second timer, and 25 minutes would give you a 50 second timer, etc. Edited March 6, 2015 by WolfgangErikson

Wookieenoob 191 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) and if your booted? due to bad admins?and if you lose connection to the server? many things to look at. i get connection lost all the time, or join servers then they restart right away. and there are a lot of badmin servers. those ones with two people on that say unstable usually. i need to get to reporting them. honestly there shouldn't be any penalty that's indirect like a silly timer. make it so that you can leave/join 2 or 3 servers before there is any negative impact, since it's very often i join a server and i'm crazy lagged out for some reason, or i get kicked or it restarts within 30 minutes. once diseases are added, add a serverhop timer you can't see that means if you are "constantly" hopping servers, IE join, loot barracks, leave, and doing it regularly, your character develops some form of dimension-changing dementia, throws up and starts seeing double, as if he's seeing the world in 3d glasses. this goes away if you stay on the server you're on for more than 30 minutes. roguetrooper 201 Posted March 7, 2015 What we need is simply the name of the latest server we've played on in the server browser (or have it highlighted in the first position of the server list).

gibonez 3633 Posted March 7, 2015 How about one locked character per server? If only. Would fix so many of the games inherent problems.
IgnobleBasterd 161 Posted March 8, 2015 Oh, OP are you talking about the spawn countdown? That is about as "penalizing" as a mosquito bit. Not the spawn countdown. The timer goes up to 59 seconds if you log out and log in again within a time frame. The actual timer goes beyond 59 seconds, as it sits at "please wait" a lot longer if you relog too often, so I'd say that the 300 second penalty is actually live. It is just invisible.
