no suicide?

yo hi,

 

 

so i have this hunting knife. it's worn.

 

i heard you can commit suicide with any sharp or shooting thing by pressing F11 + Left Mouse.

 

animation looks promising and all that, until ... nothing really happens. my girl sits there and holds her arm up, with the knife in hand.

i really tried all mentally possible key combinations, to no avail.

almost looks like she just refuses to commit. but i made up my mind, she has to go. and pretty please before the remorse get's on me, will ya.

 

 

now, i found that hunting knife very early after spawn, which leads to the assumption that not-so-rare items are excluded from the suicideable item pool, to prevent suiciding for better spawn points - am i on the right track here?

if so, shouldn't start the animation with the weapon in hand in the first place. for example when i press F11 with the compass in hand, she will put it away and just point out with her left hand. then again, the torch appears to be messed up in the same way.

It should've worked if you've done exactly what you describe.

2.) Press F11 (wait for animation to finish).

I wasn't able to commit suicide with a knife earlier either.  Had the knife to my ear, clicked, nothing.  pressed space and clicked, nothing.  Also couldn't make a stone knife (Musty Gaming Server), the rock would just disappear after the animation finished.

Suicide is broken, my friend tried with a screwdriver and it didn't work.  You hold it to your neck and click and nothing.

Last patch I suicided with a screwdriver so I know it's possible.

 

Either that or the mechanic has changed and requires a different button/action?

did it a month or so ago with a machete.  Apparently the curved blades are easier to ram through your neck than the sharp ones, kind of like Cod:WaW ending with

being run through with a ragged and very rounded and broad machete LOOL ;)

Tried it with a screwdriver and hunting knife.  It went through the animation but wouldn't kill me when I clicked.  I just added that for some reason the same server I couldn't craft a stone knife, though I could on another server (craft the knife, didn't try to kill myself)

Hmmm must admit suicide hasnt been high on my list of testing guess ill have to do another round of stabbing myself in the neck to test lol..

Nah, just go lay in shallow water. Like right off the coast, before you start the swimming animation.

 

Also, Idk if its just melee weapons, but I was totally able to pull the trigger on my shotty when it was under my chin and kill Kurt Cobain myself.

yeah i remember the suicide 'teaser' release vid (for lack of better term) showed pistols also.  If only you could lie down and pull it with your toe.

Oh so morbid ;(

There's always grenades or 2m falls if you lack a weapon.  I'm still surprised at how easy it is to die, falling off the first floor of the barns.

Suicide with stone knife did work in 0.53. From the amount of weapons reported not working with suicide in this thread, it seems to be a general 0.54 bug.

it becomes wierd when grown up folks talk about the "better" way to commit suicide :S

 

anyways. i eventually starved. how boring.

 

it would be useful to know what's the exact mechanics on suiciding (what can i use, when, where, how, is some kind of sorcery involved, etc)

 

and i want to see the goooooooore :E

I find it more tasteful that the arm is cocked to the point of do i / don't i and then fade to black.

I think you are mistaken, it was removed in .53.  I know it didn't work for me or my group at all last patch.

 

It seems it wasn't in the official change log but it was here in this unofficial one
