Sweet FX is a hack, so simple answer - No

Before some claims it's legit, yeah I am sure there are many actual hacks that can disguise themselves like Sweet FX.

It's better to remove it in general.

Sweet FX is not a hack.

It's like you're saying steam overlay is a hack, but it also works right?
I doesn't mean because you inject something or whatever that it automatically gets detected as a hack.

If you make a good Anti cheat, it knows what is good and what is bad. Compare it to your antivirus, it doesn't pop up for every program, right?

I suppose you can message battleeye with this question, but I suppose that the same thing counts as the teamspeak overlay etc., it's your own risk in using it.

But honestly, I don't think it's dangerous. If you'd get banned, it'll only be on one server. As I beleive that is what batteleye does. You won't get VAC banned.

Thats very bad advice, If you are Global banned by Battleye it is for all servers that run Battleye.

OP, the only way to be sure is to contact battleye here http://www.battleye.com/support.html

Correct me if I'm wrong, but battleeye is currently not giving out global bans?

A friend of mine got server banned by battleeye with the reason "Game Hack".

A memory editor was running on the background, atleast, that's what he stated.

And ofcourse, asking battleye is the best option. But honestly, I do not think they'll reply with: "It'll be just fine." but rather something along the lines of "It's your own responsibility to use third party software like that."

Battleye do indeed give out Global bans but it depends on the circumstances, sometimes it might be just a kick.

Hmm i cant say what battle eye will or wont say about using sweetfx. But i can say i have been using it in arma 2(since 2011) arma 3 (from the alpha onward) and i am currently using it in Dayz .53 and i am YET TO GET A BAN.

Doesnt mean it wont at some point ban me but id like to think that battle eye is a professional enough anti cheat system to tell the difference between an overlay to help[ increase contrast lighting colouration etc from someone running a script in a game .......

Ill remove it it when the new renderer is implemented to check out how it looks but will most likely place it back in( as for being a hack LOL what planet do some people live on.)

i run it on .53 no prob. i didnt even consider BE, with the latest update to BE accept and agree to "scan my entire computer" they would have picked it up.

its not a hack.

I don't know anything about sweetfx, but based on a post above it sounds like it affects lighting and contrast in game? Hell yeah I think that should be considered a cheat. What if someone develops an overlay that cranks up contest and lighting on character models and clothing, making them really easy to see?

It'd be a subtle cheat, but a cheat all the same.

A prime example of why a small amount of info and not enough experience( knowing what the fuck your talking about) is a dangerous thing.. care to explain to me how an overlay ( as in something that goes over an exisiting image is going to single out and highlight certain aspects of an image and not others?? It makes the contrast on every part of the image sharper(or less sharp to your prefrence) it makes every part of the image lighter /darker brighter duller to your prefrence IT cant select individial parts of an image to brighten up.....Why is that because it lays over an entire image not parts of it..(hence overlay)

And how is that legit?

What if I create an "overlay" that turns certain patterns of individuals bright orange, so I can see them from miles and negate any camouflage they have?

Hell lets just make it so that changing your contrast settings in the menu is hacking, its pretty much the same damn thing.

People turn their contrast up at night and don't fucking claim you don't because we all do it so we can see shit without getting spotted. Strange how no one calls hax on that.

Lets go one step further, altering your graphics is hacking too, I've noticed with the way my graphics have been tweaked that people at a distance render in as paper white humanoid shapes in clothing, my friends see them as their actual color whether it be black or white but I see a bright white figure because my graphics settings are so low or something, am I cheating? How about the fact that I leave shadows off, shadows can be seen through buildings because lolalpha so people who leave shadows on gain an edge over those who don't, are they cheating?

I mean its one thing to delete the grass or foliage, but just tweaking the basic colors and contrast slightly is no big deal.

doesnt work like that, what your talking about is "hooking". picking up on clusters of colors.

sweet fx doesnt do that. its blanket. like adjusting "contrast/saturation/brightness/lux/luminosity etc"
