cheranuscrusiser 21 Posted January 22, 2015 I was very cold and shaking, found a heat pack, activated it...... tried keeping it in the hands but saw no change. Then put it in the backback but also no change. Is there a "use heat pack as a suppository" option that I didn't scroll to?
Rags! 1966 Posted January 22, 2015 The only item that has that functionality so far is the Zucchini.

jurionov37 22 Posted January 23, 2015 i havent tried it in the backpack, but it worked for me to place it in clothes(makes sense) also, they stop heating when they go ruined
BeaverProductions 441 Posted January 23, 2015 If you put a heatpack in your backpack in real life, would it heat you up? No Stick it in your trousers or jacket. Best to use when you are cold, before you go freezing if the server is set to winter or raining constantly. If you are already freezing, you are going to have to go make a fire quite quickly, negating the value of the heatpack. Stick tinned food items on the fire. These can also be used as heatacks once they go bright red.
cheranuscrusiser 21 Posted January 23, 2015 OK, thanks.I was just wondering if it works at all. I do know how to make fires, just didn't have an axe at the time.I was thinking it was not working at all or broken. But it is confirmed that it gives you a little heat if in pants or jacket? We have gotten a lot of new items that don't function yet, like the welding helmet, so I was thinking the heat packet just doesn't do anything yet either. Tatanko 5591 Posted January 23, 2015 It works, but it's effectiveness is proportional to its size (just like real life). I would like to see them increase its effectiveness a tiny bit, but it is closer to realistic the way it is now.

You don't need an axe to make a fire. Make a stone knife (any stony texture like on the beach - search for a stone then put it in hands and search again - might need to do the workaround to make the knife due to the current bug (F11 or holding W) and go to a bush and chop kindling. Use 1 stick along with rag/paper/bandage/book to make the kit then add the other 2 sticks to make the fire. I really wish they would allow us a method of lighting the fire without matches Edited January 23, 2015 by Beav

As stated you dont even need a stone knife. Kindling can also be found on the ground. But yeah easy way is stone knife.Stone knife.... Who needs machetes/knifesStone knife 1 slot cuts and opens everything. Its the only way to go really. :)

So much better than the machete and kitchen knife (1 slot) Rubbing sticks together would be ideal. Even the spark from a stun baton or cattle-prod since you have the battery when you spawn anyway.
McWendy 675 Posted January 23, 2015 First thing i do when i spawn is look for a stone. One of the things i pick up first and throw out last. I must say i never pick up the heatpack or hot guts. I can manage just fine with my raincoat/gorka or downjacket. I guess the people that get THAT cold maybe hang around too much? ;)Good point about the battery. Although i would suggest spawning without any item. Let alone a useless (nights are not nights) flashlight and a battery.
blackberrygoo 1416 Posted January 23, 2015 Well today my character seemed glitched, I was on a rainy server so all my clothes got wet , I subsequently found another nice set of clothes , but kept my wet clothes in my pack for a friend.. I end up logging off and coming back later after I woke up from a sweet ass nap ... My character was now getting "cold" as it was apparently really cold so I ditched the wet clothes inside my pack and my character was somehow still wet (despite all my clothes being dry) , I decided to use my two heat packs (I was energized and hydrated but couldn't get it bright green as my character would keep getting dangerously "stuffed" if I ate or drank) . After a while the heat packs , which were placed in my pants and my jacket, were ruined but they didn't even heat me up ... So my conclusion is that somehow some characters get bugged now and again by the cold or rain maybe , and nothing but extreme fire making allows it to warm you up (my character is still cold as I have yet to find matches , I'm also on a private hive so I can't hop to a sunny server ). So it may not be a glitch with heat packs but raining and characters becoming glitched by rain or wetness itself ! :
