I was just hoping they'd "accidentally" allowed for rabbits to be trapped there. For now, it's impossible to remain on the island and maintain an omnivorous diet without including Sardines. That is, of course, with the exception of cans of tactical bacon that could randomly spawn in the houses there.

thats what my friends keep asking me :D only one of my mates did it so far, you basically need a bit luck, dont think it will be possible after the new animal AI,

sneak up on them from behind and wait for the right moment, but dont bother you only have 1 try, after it ran away once its pretty much impossible, you sneak (crouch) like about 3m on them,

stand up run towards it and axe it fast, you can hit them twice before they recognize you.

 

I tried throwing a hoe at a deer. I hit it and the deer ran but it didn't kill it but the hoe just kept on going lol. I couldn't find it for another try but wonder if throwing things at them will kill them.

According to the above discussion on Reddit, domestic pigs have been removed from "domestic spawns" in 0.53 for whatever reason. Being that the only place I ever saw them was Msta, it sounds like you might not be able to find any at all now for the time being.

I chased down a chicken and stabbed it to death with a screwdriver. I feel like a true outdoorsman.

Weird. Id never think theres so many. Some spawnpoints appear to be allot smaller than i thought (Prigorodki->Dubky area)

Interesting stuff, i wonder what scares away everything north from NWEAF .Ive yet to see anything alive around Novaya.

Edges of the map could use some spawnpoints, esp the whole west corner + NE corner area.

Same here regarding the preference, even though I grew up eating freshwater fish like trout. It's a shame they still haven't implemented mackerel; we have to make do with sardines  :(

Tried catching sardines with three separate water bottles to no avail, but I heard that it wasn't working back when I tried it. Could have just been bad luck though. Are carp cooking properly now? Thought about trying fishing for the first time the other day but wasn't sure if I could cook em.

 

Seems like chickens are everywhere since 0.54. First time I heard one I thought it was another player - scared the crap outta me.  :blush:

Now that you mention it, I believe several regulars on the forums have mentioned not being able to cook fish in 0.54.

Chickens do seem more common, or at least they spawn in more areas now. Zombies still seem to catch up to them with little effort though. Domestic pigs are back in, too.

I don't believe it's possible to cook fish in 0.54, sadly. Not sure what broke that mechanic, but other meats seem to work fine.

In .54 I haven't been able to cook carp in any of the combinations (cookpot, frying pan, gas stove, tripod, furnace).  I'm far from the sea so I haven't tried sardines yet.

I think regardless of the type of fish you source it from, fish fillets will not cook in 0.54.
