AlekseyCoffee 0 Posted January 10, 2015 Good day!I think it will be nice to divide servers into PvP and PvE (cannot kill other players' characters). Newbies want to learn game's features and aspects without being killed by other badasses. At the same time skilled players want to test their abilities in survival against others. And I know - how many people, so many opinions. It's my humble opinion.
kichilron 8550 Posted January 10, 2015 You can already have that on Private Servers, that's what they're essentially there for. I highly doubt that this is going to be something that will be enforced / encouraged by the Devs, though.

Yes, I agreed with you, this is not global problem, but it would be better if players can't deal any damage to each other by programming code :)

Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted January 10, 2015 Won't happen. What about through mods tho? Will Bohemia allow players to create mods that could virtually turn their server into a pure PvE playground? I understand through private servers you can enforce the rules but could this happen?

I understand through private servers you can enforce the rules but could this happen? Of course it could, seeing as Mods are already confirmed. If they wouldn't be able to do that, then quite frankly there wouldn't be a reason to have modding in the first place. The question is whether someone's going to make it, though. And it's also entirely possible that someone will make a mod turning every Zombie into Lindsay Lohan, but that's nothing that has to do with the bsae-game nor something that is planned.

We haven't even been told what kind of modding will and will not be allowed yet.
scriptfactory 620 Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) Turning off friendly fire for squad/faction battles is much more likely. Team deathmatch instead of deathmatch...Edit: ...as a mod. I don't think the devs will put anything like this in the game. Edited January 10, 2015 by scriptfactory

I highly doubt that this is going to be something that will be enforced / encouraged by the Devs, though. I'd rather say, private servers (i.e. where admins can kick freely) just serve the purpose to equip the admin(s) and their group quickly and totally safely with plenty of the best loot available to use it then on other servers or to let others join after they have equipped themselves.Anyway, there should NOT be any option anywhere to turn off friendly fire. IRL it isn't possible and so it shouldn't be in DayZ. Groups need to communicate, to aim and the abililty not to fire when necessary. When the devs will allow mods, then it will be the same chaos as in the Arma series. X players then will have X+1 game versions that are mostly incompatible to each other. PvE anyway is boring. A hundred zombies are less 'scary' and challenging than a single hostile human player. I don't think you understand how it works. This is not how it works. Private Servers are private and don't share the Hive / Database / characters with other servers. And thus none of what you said apply.
Draco122 412 Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) With the current Zombie types available right now PvE would be kind of bland. Don't get me wrong I love myself a little PvE every now and again, but right now I feel that PvE will be kind of stale because of the total lack of hostile wildlife and the Zombies themselves. IF a mod comes around that enforces a PvE style server, it will probably be better to ramp up the number of Zombies (or even introduce specialised "types") as well as hostile wildlife and even Hostile NPC's to the player.
