Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted January 8, 2015 DayZ has to be one of the few remaining open world games out there, that you are not allowed to jump.Instead we are stuck with this awful vault mechanic from Arma2.Having the ability to grab and climb on any surface whether it's fences, concrete or roofs is something that would prove game-changing.Don't get me wrong,i can relate with you folks that love the Arma feel, and having people abuse the mechanic and jump dance to dogde your bullets will seriously mess up your fire fighting experience. So i propose this realistic solution...Allow the player 2-(3) consecutive jumps and restrict him from further jumping again for the next (25-15) seconds. That way everyone can benefit from the mechanic without fear of abusement. So,what do you think?Share me you thoughts! :)

But thats only because i know what jumping allows also. People sitting in the most bs places camping/glitching. Which in turn causes the dev team to adress the issue and lise time on other area's. People use it for more then just jumping. Edited January 8, 2015 by McWendy

☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted January 8, 2015 This is an old suggestion and one that was shot down pretty early in development (if I remember correctly). Considering gear/weight/stamina and a host of other factors I would consider it "inauthentic" for a character to jump while encumbered by much of anything besides normal clothing and a light backpack. Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted January 8, 2015 Eh,trust me guys,i am kind of expecting this to get shot down pretty quick. :)Main reason being that it's something that goes against DayZ tradition. But i encourage you,to think about it...Accepting this mechanic is something that would help gameplay and remove a certain amount of character movement restriction and clunkiness. ToySmokes 116 Posted January 8, 2015 Well at least a climb-mechanic so we can climb over things that are higher than our kness. Because that's the most anoying part with the current volt mechanic
Sirwarriant12 94 Posted January 8, 2015 There is a mod for Arma 3 which pretty much just enhances the movement in a few ways. The biggest is the ability to clamber over walls and being able to get ontop of roofs if there is a way to get up there like crates on the side that you can use to get up onto the roof from. It also adds a sort of jump that is pretty much the running vault that is in this and lets you jump over short gaps, etc. You can then of course climb back down off of things. It works surprisingly smooth as well. I really think something like that would be awesome for DayZ and possibly even an assisted climbing ability like from warface where one person boosts the other up ontop of something then that person pulls the other person up. roguetrooper 201 Posted January 9, 2015 You CAN jump over things out of running. Though it can be clumsy and needs a bit training in estimating distance and point of time (of pressing the button).

Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted January 14, 2015 I dont see how we need this. Well, like Joe_mcentire mentioned in another post in this topic,it's kinda dumb having to cover huge distances around obstacles half the survivor's size...
forester155 11 Posted January 18, 2015 I think we should keep the vault key which allows your player to do small hops, but each object should have an 'interaction' status. Like, if you press V near a train trestle, you'll vault onto it. Or if you press V near a fence, you'll plant a hand and jump over it. Or if you press V near a short wall, You'll jump up, grab it, and pull yourself over.
