Does anyone actually enjoy killing zombies in DayZ?

So, tell us how come it doesn't bore you to death? All the thrill is in killing other players and not zombies. Zombies are there just to cover up the real aspect of the game that is PvP and lure unsuspecting players in.

I think you need to learn that this game isn't finished, and neither are the zombies in either behavior or numbers.

Back in the mod, killing zombies is what I did most. Mk48 mod 0 + M249 SAW + NW Airfield = joy.

None enjoys the zombies.

Trust me,i have yet to find a person claiming otherwise.

Eugen in a recent tweet said that 2015 is all about putting the Z back to DayZ.

So i'm hoping the new year will enhance the game's survival aspect greatly.

Game's direction was always leaning to PVP though and i doubt that will ever change.

As for the PVE types of players like myself though,i can only hope for radical gameplay improvements.

I've heard that this year they will be going into Beta, and when that happens it will be a big step for them. I've played this game since early 2014, and I have high hopes that the zombies will be more interesting, and yes nobody plays this just to kill zombies I do it so that i can hunt people.

Eh, it's all about enjpying the little things. Like Tallahassee from Zombieland, sometimes I do a little effort to just fuck around a little with them as I kill them.

I do get a small thrill running from them. The worst is when you're in a large town sneaking around and before you know it you got 4-5 zombies chasing you just waiting for someone to come up and pop you while you're distracted.

Not sure why so many people fight so hard to try and justify what they do. Pretty sure there was never any intention to make shooting 1-2 zombies every 20 minutes "fun". In the end though, at least the end I'm hoping for, shooting 50 zombies that flood into the building I'm in will be quite intense and fun at the same time. It was in the mod at least.

Decent fighting with Zombies is on the TO DO list, evidently somewhere behind Teddy Bears.

 

Because Teddy Bears are just a model and zombies require the new renderer....

You bet your ass i do.

 

..i just don't do it that much as it attract people that want to kill me. So yeah waiting for them to force me to shoot them more with higher numbers of infected.

Sure I do, especialy when I dont have a good weapon. I like to meet new people and not kill everyone I see. If I get killed in a random meet I just crack it up to my bad technique.

You can play this game anyway you want, I prefer to not kos and only shoot after I've been attacked.

The zombies are just an excuse why society has fallen apart and why there is anarchy. They don't contribute to the gameplay. For a freshspawn without an axe they are just annoying and with at least a pistol they are no threat at all. I mainly use zombies for sniper training from far away.

Zombies hardly bothers me at all. I do tend to enjoy using them as bait or target practice.

Sometimes i will gather up a horde of them and hide them inside a building :D

I enjoy using them as practice targets, while they get improved. Or lure them around to use 'em as a player detector tehehee.

Hopefully a decent melee system will require the new renderer too.

At the moment, zombies are not fun to kill.

 

But the fighting systems and the zombies aren't yet finished. The zombies are one of the main focuses for this year (though I've not seen anything about improving fighting mechanics, which worries me as they're talking about making zombies more difficult to kill, which is a terrible idea until fighting actually works).

 

But yeah, as it is now, I find myself just thinking 'well, this is mildly annoying' when I get zombie aggro. No worries, no fear. At worst I'm worried that they'll hit me once and somehow ruin my military grade shirt or leather biker jacket as has happened to me multiple times this week. Really just frustrating and annoying than anything.

 

Though, again, that's going to be changing.

I like to aggro myself a train of zombies in elektro and lock them up in the church.

I like the fact theres something that can kill you other than players, but i cant wait for they to improve the zombies in every aspect.

For me it was never about killing Zombies per say. What made DayZ mod so much fun is the trying to get around them with out alerting them. For me that was half the thrill of the game. Just going across the street that was occupied by a deal of zombies took time. It meant that you had to think about where to go and to time it as to not alert the zombies. When you where in cities you had the added pressure of knowing that a sniper could totally spot you at any given moment and kill you. So you had to sneak past the zombies as fast as you could with out alerting them to your presence. That to me was a large part of the thrill of the game which is totally missing.

 

I hope they do fix it and bring back that element of game play. The one thing I'd like to see them do is have the Zombies an effect on PVP. One biggest grips with DayZ mod was that players that armed to the teeth had no fear of the walking dead. They could sit in the middle of city and snipe unarmed players with little to no consequences. I always felt there should be consequence to your actions in DayZ. If you fire a round off in the City this should alert every Zombie go nuts and go straight to the location where the shot was fired. If the sniper is on the roof he should have seconds to clear out before all the zombies surround the building and converge on him. Even being armed to the teeth that player will have to deal being over run by Zombies.

 

I for one don't think ammo should be so easy to come by. I've seen videos and have come across players that are so well armed that they could start World War 3. I believe ammo should be super rare. So that when you do find it your first thought isn't to go and kill some noob just because you can. It should be to constantly evaluate your situation and decided is the need to kill that new player with nothing on him worth wasted resource that you might need to defend your self from another armed player or Zombies.

 

Any way sorry to drone on that is just my personal opinion. I'm going to go back to 7 Days to Die for time being. I will come back to DayZ around summer time and see how the game has progressed. Right most of the thrill in the game is non existing.

Considering ammo,the current ingame quantity is good.

However the majority of people prefer to use their melee rather than wasting bullets on the infected.

Thus we are left with a survivor,that carries even more bullets than Rambo ever did on his movies-combined.

The solution is simple...give an incentive to make survivors waste bullets on the zombies.

This can be achieved by implementing overwhelming numbers and are made extremely lethal in close range melee combat,

forcing the player to take them out from a safe distance.

I've had a personal vendetta against zeds since the mod.  I used to empty out airfields of weapons and ammo simply killing for hours.  My attitude towards the heathens has not changed in SA, I will not rest until they are all buried by my axe.
