cheranuscrusiser 21 Posted December 20, 2014 What the hell? Again for the second time? I've been playing online games since 1999 and I've never once seen a hugely popular game be taken down because of hackers. I've seen crashes and maintenance issues, but why is only DayZ so easily fucked with by hackers? Who is in charge of network security and how much is their budget for it? Final fantasy XIV was hit last month, In October EA servers were also taken down. I could carry on but perhaps you should google it yourself.

cheranuscrusiser 21 Posted December 20, 2014 I did read that, but also, the experts say that if they just have 3 layers or networking, and buy a extra bandwidth to anticipate it, ( you know, like with the freaking 60 million dollars they have).... DDOS attacks would fail and not work.

ChainReactor 922 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) I know some people will think "It's their duty" or "I paid, so they have to make it work", but i wanna point out that meanwhile it is 2.20 AM at their office, on the friday before christmas, and they are still sitting there and try to make everything work again. Big thanks to everyone involved tonight. Edited December 20, 2014 by ChainReactor

therandomredstone 432 Posted December 20, 2014 The servers will be up 2-13 minutes from when this post is posted. Those guys are brilliant, sitting in their offices, tired out of their minds trying to get the game working for us. Fucking brilliant If I do say so myself.. RAISE THOSE MEN'S PAYROLL!!

DDOS attacks would fail and not work. You can only buy so much bandwidth. They tend to use hundreds if not thousands of computers to attack which can still overwhelm.Dayz has been attacked, They have worked as hard as possible to stop the attack in a timely manner, I am very satisfied with what the devs have done and their dedication to getting the game back up as quickly as possible is very appreciated.I have zero complaints about how they have handled this situationIn fact I have even more respect for them now.Servers Are Online Edited December 20, 2014 by Jesus Christ The Goblin

Tatanko 5591 Posted December 20, 2014 The servers, yeah, but the DATABASE...That's what he's talking about. They are slowly reestablishing connections. It's not the most user-friendly language so I can understand that you didn't get that.

therandomredstone 432 Posted December 20, 2014 What's that supposed to mean?It means that the more time that passes, the more servers that are connected to the central hive, which means having your character back. You can risk joining a server but if the central hive hasn't connected to it when you joined it, and when you are in the server, it connects.. your character gets overwritten.. I'm waiting for the next tweet that will say something along the lines of "everything is pretty much in order, have fun!" or something like that.
ChainReactor 922 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) What's that supposed to mean? They are restarting the servers and allow them to connect to the database again bit by bit. When the players are "hammering them" now ( means everyone tries to play because IT WORKS AGAIN ) it's actually a new DDoS due to many new connections at the same time. Also, what therandomredstone said. people will just join random servers in order to play and face the consequences. Tatanko 5591 Posted December 20, 2014 You must have been under a rock when the Playstation Network was taken down.Yeah, really. That's not been the only time, either. Let's not forget similar outages for Xbox Live, too... nothing like the really long PSN one, but it has still had its outages.
Tatanko 5591 Posted December 20, 2014 I meant that i DID understand it, but it seems that he thinks i can't read English or something, because he said ''Not a user friendly language''.My point was that what he said was confusing/misleading if you aren't used to reading it in that context.
