Map Changes in 0.52.125994

Recommended Posts

The debut of the first build of 0.52 on the Experimental branch today brought with a laundry list of map additions and enhancements -- everything from whole towns to minuscule changes in detail on existing locations. In total 6 new villages were added in the north along with further development of the landscape between them. Here's a complete rundown:

  • Kamensk added
  • Krasnoe added
  • Stary Yar added
  • Polesovo added
  • Ratnoe added
  • Zaprudnoe added
  • Mine at Kamensk completely revamped

It is possible that more was changed, and there are still a few things that I need to confirm, so I'll update this to reflect that when I do. For now, enjoy my usual round of screenshots. I didn't manage to make it to everything in one go, but here's what I've got so far.

EDIT: Scroll down to post #15 to see the rest of the updates :)

We begin with the revamped Mine at Kamensk:

Even further to the west, near the very top of the map is Stary Yar, which is considerably larger than either of the previous two new towns:

...and that's it for now. When I have more time to explore I'll post about Zaprudnoe, Ratnoe, and Polesovo. I also need to see if anything has changed about Lysaya Gora or Grozovy Doly (I'm thinking they were simply added on the map by name finally).

I can see myself picking berries out there.

Thx for exploring & sharing.

Thanks!

Hopefully I'll have some time to get back out there and explore the rest tonight. All the servers were nighttime when I had a chance to play last night, so screenshots weren't happening.

It took a lot longer than I expected due to Thursday's patch being nighttime only for the most part and all of the issues yesterday with the launch of 0.52 on Stable yesterday, but here are the rest of the changes from the update!

First up are the "new" (really just "improved") mountains of Grozovye Doly, Lysaya Gora, and Lysina. The first is next to Novodmitrovsk, the second is nearby to Kamensk, and the third is all the way out west near Sinistok.

Next up, we have further changes to the quarry at Severograd. There is now a processing plant, construction equipment, and a pond in the middle.

Finally, we have the quaint town of Zaprudnoe even farther to the west, before you reach Novaya Petrovka.

With the addition of all these new towns, I think I can actually feel safe enough to go with a friend and set up a full out camp in a house in a random town somewhere with a campfire, portable gas lamps, a cooking tripod and pot and stuff. It'll be fun because I'm used to setting up camps in sheds deep in the thick forests of Chernarus. But now that there isn't basically two dumb towns in the game. People can be more spread out. So thanks for sharing these pictures with us! Doing kind deeds like this must take a lot of dedication, and I don't know where you get your motivation from, its not like you get paid to take these screenshots or anything.

Well, don't forget they are hoping to up the player count per server at some point (they've already gone from 40 to 50). That said, I agree, it is nice to find yourself a village and just set up shop for a while. There are quite a few rarely-travelled villages that don't even have names, too.

Thank you for the kind words. These are exactly what you said: kind deeds. I do this purely for the enjoyment and education of other forum-goers in this community. Plus, it's always fun to have some screenshot candy to look at, right? :) These screenshots serve the dual purpose of showing off the updates and acting as updates for the wiki as well, so I definitely get my use out of them.
