Problem with this merge is that I don't think the game is shit and want my money back.

The point is to survive, right?

Well, let me digress for a moment...

Been playing this for almost a year now (January). No other game gives me such an adrenaline rush. But over a year there's been no real change pertaining to the point of the game. Today I and my group lost a great deal of loot due to this Patch .51. We were prepairing for long term survival, but no longer.

And really, the devs give us all kinds of guns and clothes, but we lose drinking from wells and magazines for said guns. Every time we get a patch we get something and lose something. Remember M4's? Crash sights? FNX's?  And what's with boots wearing out in a day? But I really don't care much about that. Here's what really counts:

If this game can't have total and true persistence, then I'm not coming in to empty a tent every Tuesday night and hold it for Wednesday morning. And I'm certainly not going to lose all my loot every time there's a patch.  As of this moment, I see no reason to play this game as it was originally designed.

When true persistence comes along, when I can put a tent down and fill it up and have dry bags stashed around the map and it all stays there for a whole year,  I'll come back.

The point of the game is to test it so that the devs can make changes and get feedback on their patches.

As per Steam page

WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.

I understand the frustrations but we have to accept that gear will be lost, characters reset and other fun things that come with being an early access alpha.

I'm trying to decide if I should boil tea with OPs tears or drink them straight.

Why do people feel so entitled to a properly working game when they payed for the alpha? :L

Sure, that's fair to point out.  Still, the agreement when you first boot up the game states that it's still not finished yet, and every player who clicks through paid for the game knowing it's not finished yet.

what are you, american?

well so am i, so...

tea is so much better than coffee. but yes, Andrestor, we can make you coffee out of OP's tears, too.

that is, if we have enough of his tears left after making tea.

although i dont think we have to worry about that, it seems we have enough tears for everyone!

Character wipes are annoying, yes, but that's just how it goes with the Alpha version of the game. If you can't handle that, it might be a good idea to wait until the Beta is released.

its unbelievable how snivelly folks get about losing some gear or their 20+ hour investment in a toon. i can sympathize somewhat as it is frustrating, but you have to realize the state of the game you are playing.

as an example:

i host a life is feudal server, a game that is also early access, and deal with frequent updates. one of the latest updates they changed how they were doing storage, added degradation, etc. the largest changes came to using "bags" for storage (drop one item on the ground, its in a bag which then allows you to place alot of other shit in it). the only warning given was that the bags would now degrade and there was a limited time to build other containers and get your items out of the bags. what they failed to mention was that once the server was updated, everything in the bags would be gone. i figured i would have the aforementioned time before the bags would degrade...turned out not to be, and i lost 99% of everything i had grown, crafted, collected, etc. over the entire time playing. the only things remaining are the structures i built.

basically i lost 132 hours of game play, fortunately other players losses were minimal...

guess how much crying/bitching/snivelling i did on their forum? not a fucking word....its an alpha and i accepted that fact when i bought it and decided to play it in its current state.

nut up, shut up, and gear up ffs

I understand that as well...Well...maybe I don't. I'm not a programmer. Yet, I can't see how the Devs give us things and after various patches some things go away. I don't understand how something works fine for months and then doesn't work after a patch. I don't understand that if the game is survival oriented why a character and itens he carries can move from server to server and yet a tent and its belongings do not, even if I'm in it.

What makes sense to me is to get 100% persistence going and then add items. But maybe it doesn't work that way.

I'm not bashing the Devs or programmers. But I think after 2 years 100% persistence should at least be up and rolling. It sure would save us gamers a lot of grief and useless running around to kit back up.

Hopefully this post will answer most of those replies to me.

Because with a game such as this, with so much potential going for it, it seems that after two years Alpha it would be much farther along than it is. There really is no sense to play a survival oriented game when your caches disappear every week and you're forced to forage once again. There's 52 weeks in a year. That means you choose a tent or food 52 times a year. Tents have been out for only 2 months and already it monotonous.
