call him Steve 46 Posted November 24, 2014 Well you guys are not missing anything, because it will still disappear after three or four days. I had one with some food/water, a change of clothes, pistol, and a Mosin. I removed everything once to update the items plus moved the tent a few feet but still the whole thing disappeared. And "NO" it was not found by anyone, it was placed WAY out of the way of any routes to good loot locations or towns. However when the Tents are working correctly they are worth the time to find them! Now thats a good idea.... though with persistence being reset each week, you would have to remember to pick it up. Or, just start a new one each week. However when the Tents are working correctly they are worth the time to find them!I hate to tell you this but the most likely reason for it vanishing is that it was found, I thought my tent was waaaaaaaaaay out of the way, I mean it was in a place that no one had any reason to go, no buildings, long walk, up a mountain, in the trees, at the edge of the map and it still vanished, know why? Because people actively search these areas for tents, it was even on some random server that never has more than a few people on it. That's not really an issue considering that you can stuff a small backpack, like the improvised ones, into a bigger one and then put items into the smaller bag so that technically, you don't lose any space. This allows you to still have everything on you but then you can just take out the 'running' bag and stash the supplies somewhere. Even if you forget to grab the stash, if you plan your inventory right, you don't lose much that you can't just go get elsewhere. Only difference is the time it takes to restock from runs. Could be true however NO items remained to indicate that it was stolen. It doesn't matter either way, not until fortification is an option. TheWeedMan 132 Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Tents are either still bugged and randomly disappearing or the usual kiddies with ESP scripting is taking them.I put one up 2 nights ago on a constantly empty server that gets very minimal players in a random northern and very well hidden location.Even I struggled to relocate it after I pitched it and the climb alone would normally force players around or away from it. 12 hours later....gone! saintofthesystem 5 Posted November 26, 2014 It seems like persistence has been crashing out on some private shards, probably public too, where no item stays persistent until server setting is disabled and then re-enabled. Then eventually stops working again, usually the same day depending on activity. I can guarantee you that on a busy server and with the game's way of rendering things after 3 days someone found your tent. A big, blue blob standing out from miles around on an area "WAY" out there that isn't anymore. Way out there used to be a 2km hike into the north or west of the map and then a 20km hike around the entire edge. Now that BIS decided to rape the land, there's not even half the area to hide a tent on. In the original mod there were only a few places to truly hide a tent - there's so many obvious places and people will look there but after a while it makes the less obvious places stand out because there's so few. Also, in the mod you could place a tent almost anywhere except right now, the tent is placed for you - they didn't even make them a colour that blended in. As it stands right now, you'll never hide a tent for more than a few days in DayZ - people will go looking for them. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
