brazorf 46 Posted November 12, 2014 I've always experienced weird lag issues in dayz, but what happened today left totally dazed.I was arranging my backpack in the attic house - first floor. I was careful, i had full view of the stairs and the window, then i heard a "flop", a guy that left me unconscious with an axe hit or punch or whatever. In order for this to happen i think i should've been laggin 2-3 seconds. Lag is the biggest problem im experiencing as of now, much worse than any other thing. I play with 65mbs download and 6/7 mbps upload, so my connection is not a problem. I usually join lowest ping servers, but, for me, lowest is never less than 40-50. My question: do you have big lag issues? What's the ping you usually play with?
youngjediknight 51 Posted November 13, 2014 I do notice that the ping on the server list can change pretty dramatically quickly. Especially for some reason after you highlight it with your mouse (clicking once on it not twice). Generally, I try to join if its lower than 70. I also check my desync on the players list once I am in game. But really, I'm not sure this is giving me any less lag. I do notice that sometimes when I just join a server, controls feel very clunky. But then after 20 min or so, same number of players, same desync, things all of a sudden run very very smooth. It's odd.
dayy 173 Posted November 13, 2014 Wondering if anyone else noticed this. I was in Elektro, minding my own business, with my desync at 0, everything running beatifully. When, a young player comes into view, we meet, we talk, and after about less then a minute, both our desync rates jump past 9000, at one point I hit 10000. Both of us are lagging all over the place. At one point, my character all of a sudden decides he will no longer stand being controlled by my mouse and keyboard, and literally starts running and looking around in circles without me. Odd, very very odd if you ask me.....

Just all of a sudden the scenery is spinning LOL. I had it happen to me one time while I was on a roof!! With good gear!!! I was thinking oh man if I fall off this roof from lag, I'm gonna be SO pissed lol. Luckily I didn't. (I did get shot about 5 min later though lol)

Mookie (original) 799 Posted November 13, 2014 Correct. I play with consistently very low ping (often less than 20). While my lag/fps was initially much better in 0.50, it's now collapsed to as bad as it's ever been. Often I'm lucky to get 10 fps in the countryside, let alone in towns. It's very depressing, and no, I'm not using a potato.
OrLoK 16186 Posted November 13, 2014 Hello there I really AM on "potato internet" at the moment and if im lucky ill be able to play on 150-200 ping, as long as the server is groovy Ive had no issues playing. Rgds LoK

Hasnt happened often ( 3 times in 12 hours) but yeah i have lost control of my character and they have done a little run while spinning around its quite frustrating ( specially the time it got me killed during a tense mexican stand off.. But for the op i play on servers ranging from 50 ping to 120 ping and even the higher ping ones play smooth ( if there good servers)..

brazorf 46 Posted November 13, 2014 Ping has nothing to do with it. What do you mean? With lag?
youngjediknight 51 Posted November 13, 2014 What do you mean? With lag? Yes, please do elaborate. Is it serverside CPU strain or something? Or the player's computer capabilities?
brazorf 46 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) Did you mean to quote Weyland maybe? Edited November 13, 2014 by brazorf

brazorf 46 Posted November 14, 2014 Yes. Well.Since i don't know why i'm lagging so badly, and since ping is the first clue to look at when you have network issues, i'm asking yours. However, your reply doesn't add anything to the discussion so i can't see why you bothering with replies. Deductively, ping has nothing to do with desync in many cases. Not only am I taking the time to answer your question, but I'm also narrowing down your search criteria. I've played on AU servers and Singapore servers with pings of 250-320ms and the game plays fine w/o any lag. No need to be rude little fella. Hope this helps you deduce what is giving you lag. Take care now!

Same for me, except ping and timing.I play quite well on servers with 80 or more ping (up to 130 and sometimes even 180) without any noticeable problem. My first two-three minutes are always laggy as hell, then all of a sudden everything runs smooth. No one of the people I've played with ever complained about my character warping, lagging or causing problems to other players, too. My rig is pretty average and old...is it possible that people playing on servers with 20/30 ping are lagging while I play on servers with ping in their 100s and don't register any problem? Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted November 14, 2014 I haven't been rude little fella. The below comment is rude. The above reply is very original. Did you come up with that yourself? However, your reply doesn't add anything to the discussion so i can't see why you bothering with replies.
brazorf 46 Posted November 14, 2014 The below comment is rude Naa. You're too sensitive. If q = "What is your ping" and a = "Ping doesn't matter" you are not answering, so it's legitimate to wonder why you did bothered yourself with an answer.Later on you realized this, and you gave an answer you could produce 5 post ago, where you have not been useful to this discussion. The above reply is very original. Did you come up with that yourself? Well 50% myself, 50% web inspiration from good source. Cheers
