The future mod of Dayz SA that will become the new SA

Fuck yes!

 

Ghouls, Super Mutants, Centaurs, Chinese Officer swords, Plasma/Laser rifles in scarce supply, fucking Fat Man's and mini nukes plus some destruction.

 

Someone better make something like that. Even if it was just single player.

What would it be about if u where to make a mod of SA?

I personally would like to see a mod based on realism 100%, thats hardcore and unforgiving. If u die...no new char until next day.

 

Thats a bit harsh, but with a proper networking of lets say 100 servers for the mod, you could make impossible for someone to play on the same server after dying. Shit would get serious.

 

However im not agree with the unforgiving part, its something I find creates the opposite of whats intended. I want a survival game, which in short means having to deal with a lot of shit and actually...survive. Right now is more like im doing fine-fine-fine-fine-fine-fine-ohshit!-dead. Thats not even fun. What I want is something like fine-regular-screwed-wtf-heavilyinjured-recovering-better-almostfine-ohshit-infected-dying-sureImAboutToDie-startingToGetBetter-recovering-better-almostfine-fine-PUM-dead.

 

Thats fun for me. But the unforgiving part just makes the game binary, either you are all in perfect conditions or you die. No mid term, no surviving all kind of shit.

 

//Context example: if I fall from 3m high, I would like to twist an ankle and have to limp (not drag) for half and hour until I get better or smth. But, from my experience, if you fall from 3m in this game, you die xD. If you fall from 0.5m, you break a leg. (both of those happened yesterday). Too Much unforgiving...

Whenever-if ever- they supply us with server files I plan on hosting a server with a day-night cycle that runs at a sped up pace(4 hour resets, the server moves forward 3 hours every restart), modified loot tables to reduce high-end loot, and a death ban system(we're thinking a week or two). And of course 1st person only.

 

The hard part will be trying to find a way to remove current player reporting so you're blind as to how many people you're playing with.

 

but my buddies and I like the game hard, I'm sure not many do, but its their loss.

Have fun getting more then you and your friends on that server. I can not think of anyone in my friends list who would want to play on that server, sure you would have a niche so you may have a small playerbase but what happens when half of them die to hacker, you just cut your server pop in half, not a good idea imho.

Hello there

 

I can envision lots of mods.

 

A hardcore Hunting sim.

One of those awful "life" RP games. (awful IMHO but if you like them, then thats groovy)

A wasteland esque version sans Zeds.

 

Arma Armageddon mod would be rather fitting on a DAYZ platform to.

Yep I can imagine Wasteland and Life also coming in DayZ even better than in Arma. Though I don't play those gamemodes but I can imagine DayZ engine to be better for those mods in the end.

You do realize that 3 meters is close to 10 feet, right? If you fall from 10 feet and land wrong, you can shatter your leg. Hell, if you fall 15 feet  (4.5 meters), and don't roll with the fall, you probably will break your leg. Real life is unforgiving, as should it be in Day Z. There is no such thing as "too unforgiving".  There is only "not hard enough".

 

People apparently don't realize that "hard" CAN INDEED be fun. Success is so much sweeter when you actually have to fight for it, rather than take it for granted.

Thats totally fine by me. Luckily we would never know how many people are on that server anyways, so any interaction with someone else would be completely and absolutely unexpected, with much much higher stakes.

 

As for the hacker situation, it could happen, but tbh I've only seen two hackers in DayZ SA anyways- and both where the one night I decided to give a full non-hardcore server a go.

Sure you can get hit by someone (zombie in this case) and bleed, specially if they bite you, but die from bleeding by being bite by a someone with human traits and human teeth? not likely. Getting infected, feeling worse, those are acceptable. Dying? come on.

 

I maintain what I said. There's no survive here. You just go fine and dandy until something happens and then you die. Saying this is a survival is ironic at its best. I want to play and find people missing some fingers of a hand, or an eye, or with a smashed and permament injured knee, making them unable to run not for a period of time but forever until they die (though I understand having these before vehicles would be gamebreaking), Or find people deaf from one ear because he got bite by a zombie and the wound got infected. But for this to happen, first we need some mechanics when if things go wrong (not to much tho), you can manage to survive...or at least whats left of you.

 

Thats survival, apocalyptical & fun.

 

Now its just like any shooter, you just go killing/griefing without any consequences until you die. Binary. No mid term.

The above examples are with a "normal" healthy human beings. Real life isn't a movie, you can break bones stepping off a road curb, if you twist the limb "wrong". Physics are a deadly son of a bitch, and they brook no disrespect.

 

You apparently don't realize that before the development of "modern" (post-1900's) medical techniques and technologies, if you  broke a limb (especially the leg), you would probably die due to a blood infection, as well as literally not being able to do anything for yourself. In real life, you can't actually walk/run on a splint (that is what crutches/wheelchairs are for; to take the weight of the body off the limb), doing so would kill you: broken fragments of bone would enter the bloodstream, killing you slowly and painfully.

 

Hell, even getting an infection should kill you 9 times out of 10. Some tetracycline oral antibiotics are going to do jack shit against a blood/bone infection. Do you know what the most bacteria-ridden part of the human body is? The Mouth (http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/218901-overview). If you bite someone in real life in an area without medical care (AKA Chernarus), and break the skin, they are almost guaranteed a next-to-lethal infection. If a "zombie" bit you, there is no " oh, I feel really bad. I think I have an infection. Oh, after resting and eating, I feel so much better!".  No, you will be delirious, hallucinating, etc, and will probably die without outside aid. Look up "human bite infections", and realize you wouldn't survive one of those with "just" some hearing loss.

 

A smashed and permanently damaged knee would also be a death sentence. It wouldn't just impact running and walking; the individual would be in permanent and almost-incapacitating pain. OTC pain relievers (like we have in-game) would do nothing to help, and they would be next to helpless. Worse, if and when it does heal (not even touching "heal properly." That is something modern doctors have problems with), they won't be running around, as the bone in the knee would fuse together, destroying one of the most mobile and important joints in the human body.

 

Do you have any survival training? Because, if you did, you would realize life (and by proxy, survival) is VERY binary; either you are alive, or you are dead. There is no in-between. Have two broken legs, with friends attempting traction? Alive ,but possibly not for very long, if infection sets in. Bit on the arm? Alive ,also probably not for very long without powerful antibiotics). Bleeding out from an arrow to the torso? Alive, but probably not for very long. (Seeing a pattern here?) Don't have a heartbeat, not breathing, blood stop pumping? That, and only then, is when you are dead. Until then , you FIGHT for the privilege to survive. Life isn't a right granted to you at birth; it is a privilege, earned through blood, pain, and killing anything in your way.

 

LIFE WITHOUT ADVANCED MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNOLOGY IS DIFFICULT.

I have no doubt that their will be some who will make a great mod but going on the original mod and what is spawned, my hopes for anyone making anything good is extremely low.  Epoch is a bastardized version of what DayZ is about.  I've said this before but Epoch should not be associated with DayZ at all.  And if that is the future mod of the SA, well then this game is doomed to live up to it's reputation of being a hard survival game.

I have TWO ideas i want to explore and develop when Dayz Standalone allows modding... Ill only give one hint as i don't want anyone "borrowing" my ideas, one of them would be called "Dark DayZ" and has only a little to do with zombies, and it's a period piece with no firearms , except maybe for those damn chinese =).

Supply & Demand.

 

Epoch had many more servers then vanilla in the mod because people enjoyed epoch. People enjoy having different things to do and seeing progression. Is that's what dayz is about? No. Is it fun however? Absolutely.

As a bandit you could take hostages because they would value their virtual lives more. I up vote this.

 

Oh, and dead player should resurrect as infected. No pre char looting anymore.

Players cant resurrect in DayZ since there are no undead or any undead curse. 'Zombies' are infected humans.

I think it would be interesting to change the setting of DayZ to something similar to that seen in the movie "The Road". No zombies. Rare loot. Roaming AI cannibal gangs.

Honestly, this game is suffering a huge identity crisis as even the developers refer to them as zombies instead of infected humans.  They either need to change it so this is a zombie survival game or learn what they creating before confusing more simpletons.

We all know how that system worked out for WarZ / Infestation Stories.. and if you don't, well.. let's just say it didn't go too well.

Day Zombie with no zombies.

 

Im here for the zombies so I hope they increase to number of them so we have to fight against hordes of dozens of them once in a while.
