stielhandgranate 480 Posted October 10, 2014 But maybe it's realistic? The more injuries you get in real life tend to add up over time. The peak fitness appears to be healthy, energized and hydrated. Once you reached that if you keep getting injured you'll eventually die. I don't have a problem with this. Remember there is no access to surgery, physio or rehab. Eventually running around getting hit all the time without decent medical care will kill you. The thing is broken bones that are set heal stronger than before. Of course this process takes months in real life, however time for your character is sped up. Hence why you can die of starvation in hours even if you ate a can of food recently. Yeah but if you keep getting broken bones or other injuries it will catch up with you. I'm carrying several injuries, (hip injury from cycling, running injury and bicep injury from weights), that are taking awhile to heal. I don't think the hip will ever be as good as it was, So to represent cumulative injuries in-game the bone mechanic to me makes sense.
freethink 984 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) As people seem confused let me explain what I understand the issue to be: You have bone damage in three places: arms, legs, spine. With your arms and legs you get notice and can fix it. With spine you get no notice and can't fix it. This means you can be on full health (all light green) but just one hit in the wrong place from a zombie can kill you. The devs have said it's just a placeholder so it's just something we'll have to put up with for now. Kudos to wobo. He should be hired by bi for qa imo. I remember being one hit by a zee and people just not believing me (and I'm not the only one.) Edited October 10, 2014 by freethink

over9000nukez 199 Posted October 10, 2014 Only if your idea of a firefight is you taking turns shooting each other once with the exact same weapon. Most people in DayZ who die by gun, I'm guessing partly based on my own experience, are the victims of someone getting the drop on them. The few times I've killed people, they were dead either before or only very shortly after being aware that I was there - my "bone condition" was irrelevant.i had a case where me and another guy shot eachother in the chest same 7.62 round, i died, and i heard him bandaging about 5 seconds later on the black screen. this is very annoying because it gives me the reason to now go on a persistent server, drop some stuff, then kill myself, and go back to my stuff totally fit. because it will help me win a gun fight. freethink 984 Posted October 10, 2014 I wish people would stop rationalizing bugs/issues all the time. It was the same with the ott weapon sway before it was fixed: "oh no, that's the way it should be" etc.

I tried that. My advice...drop your stuff close to the coast. Also everything will disappear except the backpack if you don't get back before the restart. I remember being one hit by a zee and people just not believing me (and I'm not the only one.) You have bone damage in 2 places: arms and legs, splint fix. That's it, you don't have spine. And no spine notifier, coz you don't have any spine, you can not fix what you don't have. Yes, on full health, you can be 1-hit killed, by zed or any other very minor damage, happened to me many times. Whats and whys, more info onto subj coming into main bone stat thread, I just don't want any misunderstanding here.

Paxom (DayZ) 30 Posted October 10, 2014 wrong. please watch the video wrong. I did watch the video, a few times, in the matter of fact, even making notes. please read the main thread about this video and hidden bone stat. Is This A Mechanic Or A Bug? Bone Condition Death... BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted October 10, 2014 This bone stuff. Is it true? I am rubbish at fighting with Z's have had two broken legs and one broken arm and been hit loads of times but I'm still alive. It is body hits that are the problem. Leg and arm hits gets cured by morphine, splints, body (spine for lack of a better word) hits apparently doesn't. Well, you obviously missed the part where I explained and demonstrated clearly, that there is no spine damage in DayZ SA 0.49, and why. Again please read main thread, its all very obvious there. I don't want double post.

jukaga 271 Posted October 10, 2014 By any chance the "I break your leg and ruin your clothing"-stairs in a fire station? :P Ah my old nemesis. I just can't resist the opportunity to find damaged camo pants, an old helmet or ammo I don't need so I keep tempting the beast. ;)
Mookie (original) 799 Posted October 10, 2014 99% of the contributions to this thread are missing the point. The random death 'falling through the floor/your leg is broken/you are dead' bug has nothing to do with bone health and (probably) everything to do with lag between client and server, which briefly miscalculates your position and thinks you have fallen off something. It's the whole reason why most experienced players just don't go upstairs in most cases (with exceptions for certain specific building types). It can happen to characters who have never been hit by anything. It certainly has happened to me when I've never been hit by anything, and is one of the most irritating bugs in the game. grindstone50k 208 Posted October 10, 2014 Can we please get some sort of way to look up how we died? This is my third time dying randomly after spending a week on a character. Today, I "broke my leg", "my leg is in pain" to a black screen of "You are dead." within 2 seconds. No sounds, no gunshots, I was on some stairs standing still. If a player killed me, no big deal I would accept it. If a random bug in the game killed me, then I'm going to quit and come back in 4 months. No doubt "random death" bugs are the worst type of bug to plague the game because it drives paying "Alpha" testers away from your tortoise-paced project. These should be fixed immediately. If you are charging $30 to play your Alpha game, at least have the respect to fix the bugs that let give your testers some sort of solid foundation to explore and give genuine feedback (or let them know how they died, even if it's delayed 30 mins).Randomly dying on upper stories of buildings is a known issue listed in the feedback tracker. Accolyte 1727 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) I didn't get anything from mods, so I recon this as a yes permission. I hope you're not serious. You take no response as a yes? I'm afraid that's not how stuff works. TIP: When asking for a permission to do something and you don't get a response you wait until you get the response and don't do anything until you get the permission. Any chance you could just confirm the wobo vid as factually correct? I'm totally cool with it (for now) but some people want to pretend it's not real. boneboys 7988 Posted October 11, 2014 As if you didn't know already ! SQF is the scripting language the game uses. SQF is depreciated and used for prototyping. Designers get the script functions working as it is much easier to play around with a script (no need to recompile etc) then they are handed off to the programming team for engine development. FSM = Finite State Machine. Basically a model of states and transitions between them.
