Please help a shootout noob... ;-)

Hello!

 

Most of the time I am friendly player. Or try to be. So I didn't have much shootouts yet. Today I met another survivor. I said that I am friendly and that there is no need to shoot, but he did not answer... and he shot at me but did not hit me. I was into one of these red brick houses, he was outside. I closed the door and stayed inside the room. Then he appeared just outside the room on the other side of the window. He had a SKS and I had a magnum. He shot all 10 (or 9 because he had already shot 1 time) bullets and I also emptied my magnum with 6 shots. But he did not hit me and I did not hit him, also there have been only about 2-3 meters between us. I think at least one of his shots or one of mine should have hit. 2-3 meters away, aiming at his chest should be possible even for me. ^^

 

Is it not possible to shoot through Windows... or is there a bug? Can anybody explain me?

Bullets cannot go through objects, simple as that. Doesn't matter if its a plywood door or a BMP-2

Ok, if that is the answer it's good to know. Are there windows included? I did not talk about a door. Made a screenshot to explain what I mean. He was outside, I inside. And I did not try to shoot through the wall, I shot through the "broken glass" or better where is no glass left. ;-)

I have been shot through a window at close range before and killed. Were you moving while firing? I haven't used the magnum in awhile but I always found it to be pretty good close range. And the sks is my favorite rifle in the game.

Yes, we were both moving but it was confusing this short range, that none of his or mine shots hit. Maye we've been both very bad at aiming, I don't know. Just made me wonder if I can hit through a window... but if you have been killed it must be possible ;)

It was a good amount of patches ago that I was shot through the window so it could be a current bug? Also I've noticed people shooting when moving seem to not hit anything.

NYPD statistics between 1998 and 2006, 18% global hit rate, only 37% of success for shots at 7 yards or less. And these people are trained police officers. In the heat, even a trained guy has way more chances to miss than hit because of the fear to be injured or killed.

Maybe crappy pings + the moving made all shots miss ?  thats a wierd one at that range.

 

Iv had some pretty long range kills with akm/scope/bipod/prone, but i wasnt moving.  Moisen snipers can hit from even farther away.

You can poke your guns through windows and shoot at close range

You can shoot through the open bits but if you were to hit any of the glass the bullet would not go through

It might be a bug at the moment?
We caught three serverhoppers in the Pavlovo Military Base inside the Barracks yesterday.

We tried to shoot them through the windows (we were three guys all with AK), not a single bullet went through any of the windows at all :(

This is not entirely true provided they copied some of the systems from arma. But small caliber bullets do not penetrate much. The shotgun wouldnt shoot through the jail doors, but the sks will, for example.

 

To the OP, if you were aiming at the guy from third person, or 'from the hip' instead of down the sights, you will be dissapointed. The perspective and aim from either position is not even close, and is ESPECIALLY bad in 3rd person.

 

The magnum is a beast under 50m. And the sks is very accurate even with iron-sights at 100-300 depending on the shooter(as is the blaze/mosin).

Some windows (even broken windows) you can't shot through. The barracks as mentioned above are impervious to bullets. 

 

Now that I think of it, if you are talking about the red brick with the arch, I've also been in a gun battle where two guns inside shot at me and me at them and no-one got hit so maybe those windows are the same. Could've been just bad shooting by everyone though.
