You died from eating a berry......just laugh about it....its funny. I have died as well.....from being shot by other players....falling off ladders...ect. You seriously didn't look that up? I would have. Whats with all this throwing up this and that you speak of? You throw up in the game? LOL I never get sick in game or die of sickness in the game LOL I have to look for trouble pvping to die....just because I'm bored, its almost deliberate. What is the wilds? Look man....this game is 50% survival common since...50% knowing how the game works....emk..Seriously all joking aside. Pay a visit to the wiki and read up on the game mechanics. Its not 100% realistic, but is fairly realistic.

First of all, I was referring to actual survival, something which has yet to be implemented in Day Z standalone. Being able to build a fire and get cold =/= survival

 

No. To anyone with even an ounce of actual wilderness survival knowledge, it isn't even "fairly" realistic.

 

If it was more realistic, finding clothing wouldn't be a problem whatsoever. There would be PLENTY of vegetable matter to survive off of, from the plants growing in household gardens to hundreds of different plants in the wilderness.

Ammunition would also degrade over time, and firearms would require cleaning and maintenance. 

You would actually die when shot, not run around the corner and bandage with a strip of dirty rag. Morphine wouldn't fix broken legs, nor would a make-shift splint made from said dirty rags and a stick. You wouldn't be able to shove an ammo box (have you seen the size of one of those things?) into your pants.

Semi-relatedly,  a container of vitamins and a goddamned PEN wouldn't take up the same amount of space as a 30rnd STANAG magazine. You also wouldn't be able to sprint across 230 (or whatever it is) square kilometers of hilly, rugged territory carrying your weight in ammunition, firearm, and killing implements.

 

There are many more points that I can make, but I don't want to take up half the page.

 

Now, many of these points are being addressed (lessened firearm/ammunition spawn, stamina system, more robust medical system, etc), but,  AS OF RIGHT NOW, saying that "Day Z standalone is even remotely realistic" is a joke. I actually laugh out loud when people try to say that. It isn't, not by a long shot. Hopefully, it will be.

ITS A GAME! GET OVER YOUR SELF! READ THE WIKI!....emk....Its not 100% real and theres game mechanics to be aware of. If your running around throwing up in game, getting sick, pooping your pants and dieing from eating berrys you got some learning to do about the game it self. Wilderness survival? HUH? Well your "wilderness survival" skill seem to be not helping you in game.....Your over thinking everthing, and failing to understand the basic game mechanics. Read the wiki.

 

Regardless this is all out of a good laugh. So no hard feelings emk? Im just jerking your chain

Most edible berries are either Red or Black, just saying, the majority of blue berries are a big NO,NO.

We could argue about this all day...but honestly.. i don't like berries that much, and we going way off topic.. the Fact is that the "majority" of  edible berries are either Red or Black... just because you see them in the market everyday, that doesn't means that they aren't berries.

Its a great resource.

 

I use the wiki and the DayZ TV map, all the time. Good stuff. Most of the stuff is on there. Sometimes after patches it takes them a while to add the new stuff. Also DayZ TV it self has some good resources and videos.

 

I play solo and pvp, I survive for sometimes weeks even monthes with out dieing. I can tell yes this game is not 100% realistic, its 50 50. Good since and survival knowlege is good, but you really have to know how the game works in order to be successful. As far as eating berrys go in game, I don't normally bother. I hunt for food. The time I did eat berrys I looked it up on the wiki 1st, becuase the devs were pretty clear some of them could kill you. Just like roten fruit. Even worse.

Temperature system is pure genius...as a backpacker I know the importance of packing dry clothers in a drybag, I know the importance of being able to put up a fire, the importance of not sweating to much when the temperature is low.

The temperature system adds depth to the dayz gameplay.

Daytime, slightly cloudy, no rain, dry clothes; TTSKO-set, Hiking boots, High Cap vest, balaclava, helmet and gloves, and I'm getting cold no matter what I do, unless I'm dipping my face in a fire

But it needs a little rework... today was total chaos. Messages every few seconds: slowly cooling off... slowly warming up...slowly cooling off... slowly warming up...

Are you getting the cold status or just messages that you are cooling off? I've been getting the messages but whenever I use the thermometer I'm at 35C. I haven't been out in the rain too too much so we'll see.

I came to a conclussion this system is used for a progression style element since so many people spawn in and expect to make the cross country trip to nw or way up north to the military spawns.This dynamic kind of forces the players to actually i dont know Play the game how its intended to be played? Survive,seek shelter from the weather etc etc.
