...all military spawns were removed and everyone used a Double Barrel/Sporter .22/Mosin/Hunting rifle?

How do you think this would impact the game? Positively or negatively?

p.s Keeping in mind that people would still explore the map despite lack of military loot (so you can't say people would stop moving around).

I also feel that there is too much focus on military guns and vehicles for a survival sim.
I'm for keeping the military gear, but make it especially rare and hard to find (you can't really expect them to be removed now after so much work has been put into them).
Plus, I  have the same opinion about the oncoming vehicles as I really dontt want dayz to become a gta or battlefield clone.

In the end, how many of the players who keep asking for tanks and helicopters can really expect they would find and be able to use such a machine in a real apocalypse?

I think people WOULD stop moving..  Berezino and Svetlo would remain the primary pvp hot spots because of their proximity to the most likely spawn points and you can find most of those guns, with enough ammo, right there in those two cities.  Only the people who make it a point to not just gear up with the best military loot and actually do something different will do any exploring but then eventually, they will have to go back to those cities to get some form of human interaction... even if it is just a bullet.  Military loot serves as a kind of risk/reward decision.  On one hand, you are a deadly efficient killer but on the other, anybody who kills you is likely going to gear up instantly from you and continue the cycle.

As much as I hate to say, military loot is pretty important to the overall experience.  I don't think this game would be fun if it were a hyper-realistic Fistful-o-Frags.

Since when is a bullet a form of human interaction.??

Removing the military style of the NEAF was a good idea in my opinion. Yet two military airfields are still too much for such a small map. Not really small, but the concentration of military buildings is too much. Completely removing the military part isn't good and wouldn't add to the background story. Where there is an uncontrollable infectious disease, there should always be a military intervention. So 'murica told us.

With this I fully agree. I hope an actually driving car will be a rare thing. I don't want to think about 40 players with 40 cars on the map...

To clarify on my OP...

The whole game would have to be designed around this aspect i.e big cities and towns would be essentially empty (that's right no loot), the main source of food would come from gathering/hunting, hence people would have to spread out - perhaps instead of military spawns, there would be farms around Northern side of the map, so instead of raiding the NWAF people would now raid farms etc. UN Evac sites could also be set up in random locations in the North, further encouraging people to explore as they would be the only source of medication apart from heli crashes.

Cities would still hold tons of usable loot. Most big cities have industrial/mercantile areas which house stores, factories, warehouses, distribution centers, etc. If ever there was a real zombie apocalypse, I would probably try to set up base at my workplace, which is a condiment production facility. Literally tons of ingredients and finished products with a lifespan of several years, a huge underground water storage tank, plus a 1000 m³ maintenance facility with just about every kind of tool and durable clothing you would need. Plus I could skewer zombies on my forklift...

Oh can we please have functioning forklifts in the finished game?

There's probably a torchia/rocket tweet/reddit out there somewhere regarding this, but i'm not quite convinced why they removed timed locational spawn resets.  It probably can't work alongside persistance (without bloating loot availability, discounting lowering spawn chances of things) but I would have thought timed locational item spawns would have forced people to move from town to town in search of more gear.

It was a good indication of recent player activity in the area however.

I don't know about removing military gear. I do think that the "junk houses" which most of us rarely if ever enter and search should have a degree of chance to spawn a weapon rather than certain well known spawn points. You can expect police stations and army facilities to have guns, but civilians must have had guns too and I'd expect it would make sense to be able to find sporters at least in the lesser spawn locations (including ammo).

Weapons and ammo are too easily available right now. Right now that might be a good thing, what else is there to do?

Later hopefully surviving is a challenge, at that point a gun should be a prized possession. It took you three weeks to find your M4 and 10 bullets, and each of those 10 bullets is a serious decision on whether or not you want to use it, and will it help you survive, was their a "cheaper" way to survive? You arent going to fire those bullets unless it is to live. Not cuz you want to kill every person you see, and the 30 people after him cuz you have 500 ammo on you and why not....

Every time they add a new gun this video reminds me of the gun nuts of this forum ....

seriously dude I am not the only woman that reads this forum. that was just vile and perhaps better shared with your brother as opposed to the rest of us. next time you have the "urge" resist. a lot.

edit: I forgot to mention. if you think it might be offensive in the least don't post it.

I don't have a brother :(.  Also I'm not sure what that has to do with you being a woman?  The point is how moronic people on this forum go crazy over the thought of a new gun being added, assuming it shoots lots of bullets really really fast and can have a billion attachments.

If you read into like that then the problem is with you.  It has nothing to do with woman.

First off, the video had nothing to do with "you" or "women" in general.

Second, it was an insult to the male gender as it shows how ridiculously stupid males get over getting new toys.

Huge positive.

Although not completely removed military spawns should still exist but it should be reduced to 1 or 2 bases thats it. Rest of the military spawns being dynamic heli crashes.

How do you think this would impact the game? Positively or negatively?

Negatively. Less options, less "power levels", less asymmetry, less progression, smaller rewards and a faster state of "fully geared".

Thats removal. Keeping them but making them much rarer would most likely have a positive effect. It keeps the diversity, improves progression (by de-trivializing*) but makes military gear much more of a reward.

*Would require a server hopping fix as well.

Depends on if the developers want more or less focus on players killing each-other. I believe they are going to make weapons significantly harder to find, especially military style ones. However with private servers and modding you will be able to find more 'tons-o-guns' servers then you can shake a stick at.
