Put your hands up = death

See the, "Go down swinging cause they only want to shoot you anyway." just gets you shot. If I have no intention of shooting you if you comply and will just move on or help you, choosing not to put your hands up means I will have to respond with shooting you. You basically close off any other possible interaction that could go on.

Or if you don't want me to shoot you, and I don't want to shoot / attack you since I haven't done that already you just let me go instead of holding me up and "helping" me ? Why do you need to help me ? If you don't want to shoot me and I am not showing any signs of aggression, just let me go and help someone else. Just tell me to go away and carry on.

Good for you, I would rather lose my good spawn than be handcuffed by some psychos.

Exactly, the only result from surrending will be losing my stuff... so the only way to go is guns blazing, iv had this situation few times and twice i was able to kill at least 1 or 2 of them before i went down, even came back from being knocked out and shot the dummy who thought i was dead.

You don't know who's holding the handcuffs. They may end up helping you or give you gear for being a good victim or because they're bored. If anything you get an interesting game experience out of it.

Only time i ever hit F2 is as a fresh spawn and have nothing to lose, and you'r right most of those encounters ended ok -cause i had nothing to lose and they realized that... but as soon as you are fully geared and run into those road warrior types - its guns blazing - cause they WILL screw you over.

There's never a black-or-white answer, and that's why this game is so interesting. You can't know what's going to happen.  You just have to use your best judgement, and for a lot of you Call of Duty kiddies, it's gunning someone down without giving them a chance.  For you softbellied hippie types, it's giving everyone a chance and feeling indignant when the group of 4 overly-geared clones murders your face off.

Me? I just like to sit in the woods with my fishing hole and my books and have a beer while this whole thing just blows over.

It's not about helping you, it is about helping myself, it is no skin of my back if i just have to shoot you instead i honestly don't care, i wont argue with you about it as you seem to have a very narrow mindset but i am telling you that if people are compliant like the above chart shows you have a much higher chance of living and i for one would let you live, you keep wasting your lifes when you may have lived, the people holding you up could not give two shits.

@anotherdeadhero

It's not narrow mind, I'm just not going to surrender. Not my play style.

Carry a flashbang all the time for this - just drop it on the ground, plan your route, pull pin and run

wont always work (i tried it) the radius of a flashbang is quite small, so, especially if they have a guy more than about 20 meters away, carry a grenade. (it is now part of my standard kit) and try to go out in a blaze of glory...

Always try to travel in groups with a lead spotter and rear tail, and keep a 1000ft between you and them. This has worked very well for all of our situations.

If the lead spotter or tail gets attacked, our group kills the attackers. If the group comes under fire, we always have a spotter and tail to help flank.

Give it a try. :)

Lord Humungus and his merry band of wasteland psychos..... will find you and your fishing hole....  the horror.

I always think of the scarface chainsaw scene. I tell them to go fuck themselves and go for it, a man with nothing to lose is the biggest threat in the end in my opinion.

I've been "held up" a few times. One time by two teens. One in the pink mask was very nice and didn't want to kill me even though the only thing I would ask was if they had a fortune cookie. the other was hell bent on shooting me. His friend talked him out of it though.

The other hold up I can remember I wasn't aware my mic was off. They were asking if I needed anything and I thought I was talking back but, I guess not. As soon as I started typing to them they shot me.

Cool bit of trivia related to this: if you get mugged in real life at gunpoint by one assailant, you are more likely to be shot if you comply with their demands than if you try to get the gun away from them.

err. no. Satire fail.

Did that to a British guy the other day. Brian I think. We patched him up after a bit, let him tag along.

Poor Brian, he was in man, he was in. Then he tryed to hit me from the side with a hoe, so I shot him in the face. He just couldn't let it go.
