I'm sitting here in cover, overlooking one of my fav spots to camp. I was thumbing thru the forums just reading this post and that about bandits and heros, Kos'ers and Bambi's. Then it dawned on me. I don't hold people up. I don't help anyone anymore. I talk to the peoe in my sights I'm about kill be they geared or just a Bambi. I kill them all. Just an SKS and a PU scope. I'm not a great player by any means and I die a lot. But that just doesn't matter anymore. I hope there is some sort of end game spoils to reach for coming soon or being able to make your own base and fortifications or something, else I'm going to become some kinda wild man running around in my undies high on bad berries just killing anything that moves.

I find myself cycling between going full-on kill-mode and helpful wanderer. No rhyme or reason, just doing what I feel like doing.

 

Which, of course, is one of the best aspects of the game.

Don't worry about it I am just about the same as you except I shoot only those that are geared up for my sport. But unless a poorly equipped player gets too close I let them be. Its what just about all players do. And by the way I just got killed ( massively equipped) a few hours ago via falling through a glitched railing. I re-spawned too far south to get to my corpse but after two and a half hours of play I have an SKS with a PU scope with sixty rounds plus two 10 round strip clips, a pristine ax, good low viz clothing, plenty of chow and I'm Healthy hydrated & energized. I'm  just about ready to make the rounds of military bases and NWAF and anyone I see there is going to get dead unless they make me dead first. I only killed one dude in that time. He was hiding under a tree waiting for a target to appear and looking the wrong way. If he had been looking my way I would have been back on the coast. The way I see it, every armed player you grease is one less that will be trying to grease you.

It is OK man especially if you play alone. There is no other end game in DayZ other than deathmatch so dont worry.

Haha nice buddy, good to hear I'm not the only one! We should play together sometime.

 

I've got like 600 hours gametime now (only SA, didn't play mod).

In the beginning (like the first 150hrs or so) I was the friendliest person you could even imagine (sometimes I still am) giving everything to everyone no matter what, but I was the stupid version of a friendly player (very stupid). Well I got fucked over like, a lot :huh: :huh:

 

That's when full on psycho mode came into play and I murdered everything! (good that I went through that phase I guess, I learned how to PvP, especially how to snipe) :ph34r: Well, for the last 200 hours I've been torn between being a friendly chernarus traveler and a murderous beast haha :lol: But I keep getting better and I keep getting closer to my personal goal --> approach EVERY player with a friendly mindset (no KOS at all), whilst still keeping the upper hand of all the situations and the possibility to kill him/her (if he/she is not friendly). But sometimes I still panick... :rolleyes:

I attacked 3 russians with a hammer yesterday whilst whisteling their national Anthem and screaming "minja lublju tebja" ingame voice chat...took them a while to take me down.

they where wearing helmets and we fought in the corridors of the "shool building" in svet. Dident help that melee is borked. I made them all bleed at least once :D good times...

The problem is the players and not the game.

The other day a friend and I were approached by someone who was "friendly" - I told my friend to finish him of and be done with it since the player was only friendly because he had not found a gun yet.

My friend insisted that we should team up. We gave him a blaze - but he was  on the lookout for a mosin. So we went to Novo industrial and we showed him possible spawns.

Sure enough the second there was a distraction because of yet another player - he killed my buddy and then tried to kill me.

Luckily I had noticed that he changed from the blaze to a shotgun and had pulled my sawn off while evading.

I managed to dodge his shot in a way that enabled me to unload my sawn off before I passed out.

 

While it was kind of fun because I really knew what would happen and there was the tension of what would be the point he decides to backstab us - it is also annoying.

When you play with friend or you have a goal in mind - why bother with it?  > 95% they will try to kill you.

 

So if your set goal is not just to interact with others you are better of to KOS.

ugh....i meet funny People...on guy killing everyone in novo chacing People. I approached him with "friendly friendly" and to my suprise he gave me another axe and some bandages :D we followed some dudes around screaming FRIENNDLLLY while whielding axes....ah good times...( i think that dude was of russian decent too...gonna love their Humor... :D )

That is the important point my friend. By now I am solely trusting my gut instinct. (But I'm good at that in real life too though, I'm not sure if that is working for everyone) Mostly I can tell like 9/10 times when a player is faking the friendly part. Of course there are some very good actors, but they are rare.

 

If you have that feeling next time, let him go or kill him :) (if you don't want to risk anything)

 

One thing I don't get though is how fast people seem to get fucked over to the evil side.

Seriously, I've got killed, fucked over, abused etc. in the game like at least 100 times until that switch happened :P
