Rain will be the new night?

Recommended Posts

Nobody wants you to do this... you can also leave your character alone, go outside and smoke a cigarette... or take the rain as toilet break. :D

But I hope it will be the way, that you have to avoid rain (without clothing to change), that it is difficult to find food, that most water should be boiled before drunk... no real life simulation, but realistic survival game. ^^

And get my gear ruined by a zed than run trough wall, or some random plater than ran into me.

I think you know that the answer what to do during rain is more about the minor issue of my post. ^^

Yes a survival game, not real life simulator, you people are loosing, reading books, sleeping in game, when the day comes I bet you'd be happy to be plugged into your PCs and move your life into virtual world.

And in real life, if you run around in the rain, you die from hypothermia.

Such as it is in Day Z. You run around in the rain, you die from hypothermia.

Don't like it? Go join the rest of the server-hopping brigade.

I, for one, want as much "realism" stuffed into the game as possible. I want weapon maintenance (that takes a considerable about of time). I want weapon jams if maintenance is not done. I want shoes to wear out (and to be a whole slew of different sizes AHEM REALISM), so the hunt for new shoes is almost as pressing as the hunt for more bullets. I want worn, ill-fitting shoes to cause foot pain and blisters, slowing you down (not until after vehicles/alternate travel is implemented, of course). I want shelterbuilding, to get out of the rain and to store stuff. I want trapping/foraging, being able to trap squirrels and rabbits, and eat plants other than berries (there are pumpkins, wheat, etc everywhere in Chernarus). I want horticulture, I want ammunition reloading, I want complex vehicles.

I want a goddamn SURVIVAL game, not just a point-and-click-TPS/FPS-with-added-survival-elements.

I mean I want to see prof to people dying from it in real life when running in the rain, during the same season we have in dayz.

Please keep in mind that almost all survival mechanics are exaggerated due to gameplay reasons. Irl, you dont starve within 30 minutes and you dont restore almost all your blood in like another 30 minutes just because you ate enough. While I agree that the weather impact system needs tweaking, i am aware that we just had the initial implementation and it might or not might be overexaggerated intentionally to test the effects of different clothing and weather on your character.

You dont need to ask for proof that the current implementation of weather impact effects is realistic, because it strictly isn't.

What? Are you serious?

Exposure to the elements is probably the #1 cause of death in strandings/ wilderness survival events. 2nd is dehydration. They switch off being #1/#2 depending  on the region and weather.

Do you not realize that it is Autumn in the Standalone? Stop for a while and look at your character. Their breath fogs, signifying that the air temp is cold enough to freeze the water vapor in their breath. Take a look around. The chlorophyll in the deciduous trees is going away.  That happens later in the year when there is not enough sunlight to sustain photosynthesis, AKA when it gets colder. Take a look at some of the crops growing in the agricultural fields. Apples, pumpkins, with corn and wheat already harvested.

I would put it at late October/mid November. This means that might be warm-ish during the day, when the sun is out, but it can get COLD during the night. And you most definitely would not want to get stuck out in the rain during an Autumn rainstorm.

Well except it than case it will only affect fresh spawns, because once you get some jackets / coats you won't die to exposure during autumn. And my character doesn't breath "fog" all the time, temperature varies. Last I checked apples are still there.

So the exposure will either be exaggerated to affect people wearing warmer clothes or only make fresh spawns miserable, which by the raises one question, will we still spawn with nothing by a t shirt when the winter arrives ?
