Has anyone ever succsessfully searched for berries?

I found red berries after searching the same bush multiple times.

 

Funny enough, they resembled the berries I was told not to eat as a kid, so I ate them.

Blue berries make you sick? Hmmm I had spammed the search for berries button and ended up with like 4 different bunches of blue ones. My guy must have been too hungry to notice the poison but seriously I ate the blue ones on experimental 2 days ago and I was OK, I lived another 3+ hours with no side effects until I got some lead poisoning from an unlimited ammo mag in an m4

Edit: I just tried it, yes blue ones do make you sick. I forgot to mention I had also taken some charcoal tabs and tetracycline tabs because all I had was a piece of raw meat and a few berries. Hey don't judge me I likes my steak a bit rare and a side of berries

Blue berries make you sick sometimes. I think it's a diceroll or something.

 

Red berries are ok, as far as I know.

 

You have to be pretty persistent to find them, and they don't appear to have much food value, so I guess hardly anybody ever bothers.

Vybor Military Base.. Behind the twin barracks, next to the propane tank and right in front of the large wall that is directly in front of the jail building there are 2 bushes.. they both give red berries each time, but you have to learn to spam the search button at the end. Otherwise you're searching for berries for like an hour before you find enough to replenish your health. If you spam, you find enough to go from starving to healthy in 5 mins or less.

Though I often ponder why there is even a "poisonous" option.  Given that the reality of blue vs red berry, and the picture is just plain wrong.  And that the blueberry bushes are far more abundant, there are even houses with garden full of blueberries....And that once you get passed the fact that maybe you didn't read which one is edible and you might have gotten mildly sick from the blueberries, you, more than likely, will never, ever, eat them again.  But yes.

 

They are all over the new?  I don't know if new, but nameless small towns up NW, which is where I've been logging off.  I feed myself mostly with apples and meat because I can get them in extreme quantities just wandering about.  Save my town looting for things thing I can't find just anywhere.

 

Spam F on berry bush, the chance is relatively low.  Something bugs out from spamming and you have to move to a new bush.  You can tell by not getting anymore chat texts or animation being bonky.

Maybe in future we will be able to use them to craft poison arrows?

 

But, yeah, it does seem odd that the former inhabitants of Chernarus were evidently so keen to plant row upon row of poisonous fruit bushes... perhaps they were decorative?

I usually don't even go to the bother of searching for 5-10 minutes to get a couple berries that are the replenishing equivalent of jackshit.

 

Until they add the ability to combine foods to make different meals, gathering berries/apples is really only necessary if you are bare out of food or are stranded.

Yeah they exist, can be a little time consuming but you just got to stick with it.

Stick with 1 bush and just spam the "F" key, you'll find some, can take up to at least 10 tries before you find something, same goes for apples.

They're introducing poison with horticulture, so we may see it at some point.  /shrug

Try looking for these bushes, and spam your action key as much as you can. There doesn't seem to be any limit to the amount of berries you can collect.

Yes, I've found a couple of berries.. Only red tho, which is great :)
