Idiot.

People screaming "put your weapon down!" or similar should just stfu. Nobody will do that. Its better to go out bravely and get shot. That way you can start over, find the bastards, kill them, kill their siblings, kill their wives, kill their dogs, burn their houses down, burn everybodys house down that owes them money, burn every house that seems to be almost the same size as their houses.....and then rest.

Player knew he was dead meat as soon as he heard the squealer, so went out fighting. No wonder. Who would surrender to that voice?

Looked familiar, but I saw it in a video of 12H8Bates :)

Haha yep! We all play together all the time :)

I would have done figure 8's through the group axing away as you all shot each other.

Haha you would have probably done more damage than this guy then!

We'd all just been shot at a few minuted prior to entering novo so were a bit on edge, but yeah, i guess he didn't have anything to lose.

Well, the problem is, how should he have known that you were no bandit group. You could also have killed him after you stripped him of his goods. So at least you did not gain much as his gear was probably ruined after you shot so much bullets. From your point of view, his action has been stupid, but it was the only option for him with all the banditry going on at the moment. I do not say that you are a bandit. On the other hand, he also took the chance, because you all were standing so near to each other and to him. Never approach an armed person. Always hold your distance to reduce the opponents chances in melee.

you are heroes, with a group of 6 armed guys to force 1 single guy to put his axe down, glorious...

he act absolutely right, you like stupid wannebe punishers. there are "idiots" in your video, but its not the guy with the axe.

next time you better ignore him or directly ask if he need help or got something to trade instead of acting like wannebe's.

No he didn't. Seriously...

Maybe he thought they would feed him rotten fruit is disinfectant and chose a quick death instead. But even then raising your axe and attacking those guys aiming at you without even saying a word is hardly a smart move. For starters: He got two legs that can be used to run away.

seriously, he did, in my opinion.

its also my nature not to do what 6 armed guys wanted when pointing with guns on me.

of course i can run, but you are sure, after you hear their laughings after his dead, they would not shot on him?

sorry, but 6 armed guys vs. 1 axe guys and such a pressure on him? seriously, i would also fight this aggression done by this fools even if i know that its my death.

I got nailed by a group of four at a heli crash at night. I had just been smacked by a zed. Lowered my M4, they bandaged then handcuffed me, took my m4 and ammo, left me with my pistol and other gear, gave me some food , had a quick chat said goodbye and left me to head off. Dudes were wearing payday masks and shinizzle and turned out to be a bunch of ok chaps.

We laughed because of the circumstances, if you watch our other videos you will see than in general we try to help people. Of course we kill too, this is DayZ after all... but we aren't the type of people to shout demands at players then just kill them for the sake of it.

The only reason we acted in that hostile way is to protect each other, it can take ages to meet up again if someone gets killed so we do what must be done to people deemed a threat (yes, even people with axes if they don't want to drop them)

fair enough fella. P.S when I said who would surrender to that voice? I didn't mean your voice, I meant the tone. When someone is excited sounding and yelling? You know that person is just itching to bullet you in the head... and that's exactly what happened! Nothing personal brother. Just try to go easy on the death squad routine lol

I disagree. Your loss if you take the banzai route that'll get you killed in a situation like that 99%. The guys on the other side could be friendly / neutral for all you know, and having an axe-wielding maniac on the other side would be a security threat.

Then again, if you personally prefer that, by all means... just not agreeing that it should be a general advice.

In short: If you never comply, expect to die.

Four times this has happened to me, the first time I complied, was handcuffed, forcefed rotten fruit and had my legs broken. Needless to say I died shortly after. The second time I also complied but was shot almost instantly. The third time I told them to fuck off, was beaten, told them to fuck off again, was shot. The fourth time I tried being overly friendly, was handcuffed and left the server.

So with 99% certainty, if someone yells at you, "put your weapon" down, you wil die. Better to go out fighting and maybe take one or two of the bastards with you.

Ask yourselves honestly did you have any intentions whatsoever, not even as a group, but as individuals to let him go after if he had surrendered.

Yes we would have, nearly every time we ask/tell someone to drop their weapon, we give them food (sometimes even ammo!) if they do so. My usual routine if they have a gun is to pick it up when the others are talking to him, hide it somewhere obvious then tell him where it is when we leave. That way if he does have bad intentions he has to first get his gun, by that time we're out of range :P

Sorry to hear that. No, no sarcasm. As a more hero like player I can understand the frustration, and that personal experience can influence coming behavior. Or will.

But again, I meant cases just like those in the video: If a group totally surrounds you, then you can assume what'll happen 100% of the time to you if you go beserk / attack / don't comply.

Okay, it could be a bandit / asshole group, and indeed, you might kill or seriously annoy 1-2 before going down. But try to see it from the other side: In the heat of sudden contact, that could just happen like that with people yelling "Put your XY down". And not every neutral / friendly / social player is as clever or calm to adress people in a more fitting way than "OH MUH GAWD PUT 'YERR GUUUN DOWN NAU!!111" (aka I mean you no harm but seriously, watch where you point that thing).

Speaking of that, how could that improve? Dunno, depends on who's involved and what exactly happens, but avoiding "Put your gun down" (when there was no previous gunfight or combat involved) and instead using "Lower your weapon (please)" might be more helpful. Some difference between "Submit" or "Cooperate". Or saying that you mean no harm, etc.

Well, tricky topic. It depends on both parties in the end, I guess. Most random situations tend to go fubar anyway if people suddenly meet up face to face or run into each other. Armed. Without previous comms or hints of the presence of another.

I agree here man.  The tone of voice and the aggressive commands set the tone for that interaction from the start.  If there are 6 of you it it's really not a convincing excuse to say you felt so threatened by one guy with an axe that you had to start yelling at him like a bandit.

If you want to say that you're friendly and try to help people, don't initiate altercations so aggressively - you set a tone that tells 99% of people you are not friendly. Anyone in his position would naturally assume you have nothing good in mind and you just want to torture him once you disarm him.  He'd rather just go out swinging and respawn than be subject to that, and all he had to go by was a bunch of you yelling aggressively at him and pointing your weapons.

On the other hand, if you really do have non-bandit intentions, starting off with "hey mate, want to trade or chat, how you doing?" or if you're not out to murder him but don't want to interact, just say, "hey friend, we're a big group and we've been getting attacked, please either put the weapon away or keep your distance" would be appropriate.  At that point if he doesn't comply or comes after you, shooting him would be more justified.

The laughing and gloating after you and your buddies all mowed him down like a firing squad doesn't help convince anyone you're not out there to entertain yourselves at the demise of others.  Your play style is not on trial - what's being questioned rather is your saying one thing about what you intended but all the evidence and signals show otherwise.
