WhiteZero 72 Posted September 5, 2014 I've got 1100 hours in this Game. I absolutely love it and I love seeing progress, but like Irishroy noted... when real-life things happen and it causes progress to suffer, then change needs to be made. I don't feel entitled to status reports, but I work for a software company and when things like this happen, there are consequences. When we don't communicate with our customers or belay communications, bad things are usually afoot, usually internally, and have nothing to do with the 'official' reasons given. If I delayed something because one of my pets died, I doubt I would be working for the company any longer. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. What makes you think that if Dean/Hicks are incapacitated that everyone stops working ("progress suffers")? The rest of the team can keep working without these two being in the office for a couple days. The only thing that "suffers" is getting the Status Reports written. robophant 102 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) any news anywhere? sorry for asking that stupid question but i really refuse to search the whole internet just because they seem not to be able to accumulate their information within this 'OFFICIAL FORUM' (that really annoys the freaking hell out of me) Edited September 5, 2014 by robophant

blackberrygoo 1416 Posted September 5, 2014 @WhiteZero, status reports are all we see between updates and they are important to usAlthough some regard them too Highly , I don't care if we don't have a status report for a few days I just enjoy the game . But everyone is different and dayz speaks to a large community ! :
Guest Posted September 5, 2014 In some games you don't get status reports more than once in a few months or so.Just sayin'.
robophant 102 Posted September 5, 2014 question: what info are you missing? that's exactly the point - i can't tell... Since they keep spreading their information all over the place i always get the feeling that i am missing stuff... Such as 'will there be a fix for the latest game-breaking changes and if so, when?' WhiteZero 72 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) @WhiteZero, status reports are all we see between updates and they are important to usI guess you've overlooked this part of the forum? http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/138-devtracker/ But yes, communication from the team is very important, and I want more of it too! As Hicks said in the last Status Report: "Starting in September, several new initiatives to increase transparency and accessibility into the development process will be rolled out, including the dev team twitch stream schedule located on devhub.dayz.com. (twitch.tv/dayz)." I expect to see this fulfilled soon, now that they're back from PAX. Edited September 5, 2014 by WhiteZero

I mean, one man is not the TEAM... DUH! But when one cog in the gear is broken, the gear suffers and the machine doesn't work correctly... AND PROGRESS SUFFERS! People are capable of operating just fine on their own. For example, where I work, I maybe see my boss once a week.
blackberrygoo 1416 Posted September 5, 2014 Eh? Teams are not like a gear mechanism. People are capable of operating just fine on their own. For example, where I work, I maybe see my boss once a week. This ^^ the only thing that "suffers" is the dev blog being pushed back a couple days , not too bad at all in my opinion, as the game is still being worked on and I'm still enjoying experimental . bubba42 9 Posted September 6, 2014 Eh? Teams are not like a gear mechanism. People are capable of operating just fine on their own. For example, where I work, I maybe see my boss once a week. Good for you. In the world of software development, of which I am a part, working teams of development programmers and engineers, hitting sprint targets, and making deadlines is critical. This game suffered from a lack of that from the beginning, it is clear; however, that they now seem to be getting it together, I am thankful for that, but a team is exactly like a gear, this game has several gears now, and again, now more than ever if leadership falters, then there will be fallout, it's pretty simple, all the cogs have to be aligned or the machine breaks down. People operating on their own is basically a recipe for half working software and unhappy customers. I'm happy for you, maybe you are perfect and don't need supervision, you are obviously the exception. I'll give you my beans if it makes you happy.

But I don't think a day or two with Dean and Hicks being gone is going to cause the development machine to break down.
