ColonelBurton 145 Posted August 22, 2014 The post-apocalyptic world will be like The Road, with zombies. All survivalists must never forget the human equation when calculating the realities of starvation and having extremely limited supplies. I bet the human element will play the largest part of surviving in DayZ Standalone. Well, unless you plan on playing on a Strict PVE Only Server, but then what would be the point? You wouldn’t be an actual survivalist then, would you? What a weird statement. The post-apocalyptic world will be like The Road, with zombies? What apocalypse are you talking about? The biblical one where it says the dead will rise from their tombs? Think you're misunderstanding the bible then LOLThe Road is a scenario where the entire ecological system has collapsed. This has not happened in the DayZ universe, it's just a damn epidemic that culled most of the human population and left a large part as a sort of predatory animal threat. Supplies aren't even that extremely limited in such a world since there is a low population and vast natural resources. In The Road, 99% of animals and trees are dead which is why many people resort to cannibalism therein losing their humanity.
nebelwerfer (DayZ) 14 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) [...] Hardly anyone skirts a town to scout out how many zombies are there or tries to crouch and loot silently right now. I can only hope that the game turns to that direction. Hardly anyone Does scouting and looting silently right now. This is true, but it is true because of the fact that zombie aggro/player detection is HORRIBLY broken - ever since the game has been released if you ask me. Zombies either get stuck and ignore you completely or spot you from hundreds of meters away regardless of how much noise you make/ how visible you are.Bein silent and crouching right now is a complete waste of time, atleast as of now. broken zombie detection is the biggest gameplay/mechanic problem regarding zombies right now. nebelwerfer (DayZ) 14 Posted August 22, 2014 At least the melee system seems to have improved to a point where it is possible to kill zombies with a melee weapon in acceptable time.
shinjuru 114 Posted August 22, 2014 I really hope the developers add cannibalism to this game. That would actually be an interesting angle in post-apocalyptic role-playing. Let's make that happen! It's funny that you think this game doesn't have 99% of the animal population culled from the environment. And as far as the humans are concerned, they are the primary predatory threat in this game, if you haven't noticed. What a weird statement. Making jerky out of my friend Scott after he gets accidentally pushed over the cliff at Solny is MY END GAME. (cliff = tenderizer)
jtmarine1 1 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) I would love to see this game go about making it a "the world is over what do you do now" cause i dont know about you but i am pretty sure i cant run into my neighbors ransacked home and find an AK in the dresser. I do believe melee needs be fixed and more prominate because it is everywhere. Also i would like to see kind of a "skills" system. Everyone is good at something be it mechanics, electronics, building etc.... why not select a trade at character select so now one persons trade can feed off anothers knowledge, i.e(you find an IPOD in a home so me being a builder needs an electronic friend to fix and BAM! i can listen to my mp3s in game or i come across a car and me being electronics fixes the fuse panel and need a mechanic to fix the engine) something small to that effect. Nothing major like 2 cans and a pistol will upgrade to a bazooka, just little things to make the KOS aspect kind of go away alittle. It is called the WIIFM aspect "Whats in it for me", how can you help me and vice versa... Just subtle changes can make all the difference. And please stay away from the "These ppl are crying so lets make it easier" that is the way that all MMO's end up going. Lets face it thats why people always leave and look for the next alpha testing game.....Its more of a challenge. With that being said i love the game, i know it is still in alpha so bugs and stuff and keep up the great work! Before you make any changes just ask yourself "If the world was to end tomorrow, what would I do first?" and i am pretty sure taking over a harrier jet isnt one of them. SaveMeJebus 164 Posted August 23, 2014 All this arguing over play styles is exactly why private shards are an important feature, people want slightly different experiences and it would be stupid of ANY game developer to only cater to 1 small fraction of the players they could potentially have. igor-vk 909 Posted August 25, 2014 New trees look way better than ones we have from begining. They dont look like womit on my low/medium setings. Any plans on replacing tree textures?
Kronons 98 Posted August 26, 2014 New trees look way better than ones we have from begining. They dont look like womit on my low/medium setings. Any plans on replacing tree textures? Not that I've heard of or read about. I think the trees are as is. They might add more or new trees, but the ones in the game are pretty much permanent.
