hiniberus 122 Posted August 18, 2014 I know it's a massive task to do, or at least I'd assume so. Though it'd be really cool if they added dynamic, realistic weather. Such as in Winter you have to wear thicker clothes or risk hypothermia, allow additional clothe layering (shirt under a hoodie for insulation for instance, tracksuit pants under jeans), summer requiring far more hydration, lighter clothes etc. I'm not asking for things like snow storms (would be awesome though!) What do you guys think?
foxdie_01 121 Posted August 18, 2014 It will be coming. But they'll need to sync the servers to a global weather pattern, otherwise people will just avoid the cold servers, like they do the night ones.

I never heard anything when it comes to the weather patterns though. Though yeah, it would make sense to implement it when the global hive thing starts coming about. Night is really dark and not every one likes playing in pitch black darkness, in real life you just go to sleep in a video game you either leave or change the server. On top of that, if they sync the in game day time with local day time, most people will never get a chance to play during daytime, especially during winter, come back from school or work and it's already dark. foxdie_01 121 Posted August 18, 2014 I understand that some would prefer to avoid night time (although you should probably try the new version of "night" in game, its basically just greyscale day-time) But weather will become a core mechanic in game, with the risk of exhaustion/hyperthermia. If you can just avoid these by shifting server than its a bit like being able to change server to avoid eating or drinking, its makes no sense. Hence why i think all servers will be running the same temperature/weather conditions regardless of server time.
ebrim 998 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) I'd really love to see this. I imagine there's a reason sometimes on the menu screen I can see my dude's breath. At the very least we'll have more variety in weather and temperature. Edited August 18, 2014 by Ebrim

I'm waiting for that moment to come, but it will force them to add some extra clothing when spawning, because spawning hungry, wearing nothing but a t shirt in a Russian winter you won't make it far. What do you guys think? I think we will have this in the final product, but i agree its a huge pile of work that needs to be done bit by bit if you think about it: - Visuals: 4 different sets of textures for almost everything.- Weather system: rain / snowfall. Snow being persistant if the conditions require that.- Game mechanics: Hypothermia isn't even in the game yet.- Season system: Smooth transistions between the seasons so the trees don't suddendly turn red when fall comes.- Other mechanics: Guns have a higher risk of not shooting in winter, character can suffer heat stroke in summer etc.- Sun movement: Sun stands higher in summer then it does in winter, what influences lightning. Also, different day/night cycles. While writing this down i figured that we might not see this implemented lol. Aah so this is why it didn't get lighter for an hour - it looked like early morning then just went this dull grey colour - is that the nights now - so no pitch black nights anymore? ebrim 998 Posted August 18, 2014 Nope, its been like this these last couple of patches. This is the one downside of playing on Experimental branch, all the servers seem stuck on this 14:00 - 16:00 loop, I never see day-night cycles. :(
heradon89 21 Posted August 18, 2014 What's the point with night when it get dark too early and the game i set to autumn which means most of the day is dark anyway. Also people will just turn on full gamma and brightness so they can see in the dark.
heradon89 21 Posted August 18, 2014 Anyway its pointless because I'm working when its light outside, so it would always be dark when i get home. So this real time shait ain't working for me. Sorry can't edit on tha phone.
Merc. 37 Posted August 18, 2014 I'd love to see a lot of what is suggested. Dynamic weather goes hand-in-hand with survival games in this day in age; though we can assume it's definitely not coming anytime soon, it willl change how this game is played. blunce 991 Posted August 18, 2014 Sadly, we'll likely never see snow accumulate on the ground.

First time I played it in 3-4 months (other than maybe an hour a month back) Sadly, we'll likely never see snow accumulate on the ground. H1Z1 can do it!! :P Edited August 18, 2014 by Jexter
cartire 55 Posted August 18, 2014 I would like to seasonal changes done throughout the year. Not implemented randomly. So this winter, Chernarus is a winter map. During the spring/summer, brightly colored and deep greens. During autumn, the map we have now. I know its a big task, but the winter map with snow and frozen water would be great. I think this as the game got more repetitive throughout the year, this would add a whole new element to gameplay to bring back people who left, and revitalize those that are still around
Karmaterror 982 Posted August 18, 2014 Like everyone else id really like to see this, fighting the elements would be great for the survival aspects of the game. But I remember reading somewhere they said it wasn't going to happen. Its a shame because someone posted a vid with a modded RV engine that had dynamic snow, vehicles even carved tracks in it! Its something I really hope they decide to add.
Hadria 1 Posted August 18, 2014 Yeah I don't think dayz will be seeing anything like that they can't even fix zombies what makes you think they can do a weather system. Fix zombies and the core mechanics before adding trivial bs.
