Spawnkilling, man... it's a pretty shitty thing to do under any circumstances, but yesterday I was killed before I even got past the 'Please wait...' screen. Just 'You are dead." after that. Then on my new character, while looting a piano house a player spawned right in front of me. I said hello but he didn't move for a good 45 seconds. I could have done so much nasty shit in that time you wouldn't believe. When I told him how long he'd stood there he was very thankful that I didn't kill him.

 

So, this brings me to a frustrating issue: Being spawnkilled during the load phase, when there is literally nothing you can do except stand there and take it. Would it be possible to create some kind of protection? I don't mind getting killed 10 seconds into the game if I have at least a chance to fight or run away. But getting killed before you're even able to play just plain sucks, especially if you've invested a lot of time and effort in building up your character.

Are you SURE you got killed by someone else ? I logged out in sketchy places *top story of buildings, ect* i had this happen once or twice in now almost 550h of dayZ.

Also, never get attached to your gear too much. YOu will loose it anyways AND i guess they gonna whipe everything pre-release anyways.

I'm sure. I heard him breathing and sorting out the ammo he took off me. Mind you I did pick a terrible spot to log (ACT control room) so he probably thought I was about to ghost him, but still.

 

And after the initial rage (I mean I was GEARED) I'm having fun with my new character, but I think I'd feel just as frustrated if this happened to my freshspawn. Not so much about what I lost, but how I lost it.

Well one day i logged in into a house in berezino, my fault, got killed before i was able to do anything, please wait.... you are dead

i heard the guy killing me running around and eating my pristine rice on top of my body...

 

however, i also once spawned in total nothingness (somewhere northwest) with 100% nobody near me, and just died right after spawning

Altho i HATE the fact that one is visible before one can even react...

We did some testing with this yesterday and my friend appeard AFTER the timer and please wait and could react right away, while I appeared roughtly 10sec before i could react...

I get stuck at Please Wait... all the time.  Its power-annoying.

The "Please Wait" phase usually ends if you wait long enough (and/or press ESC - not sure about this). However thats basically the reason why there should be a "Ready" button when logging in or respawning that appears after both you and the server are ready. By clicking you should spawn instantly and by not clicking you won't spawn (maybe with a server option "kick after X minutes of not ready").

I kinda find it fun (in my own sick little way) to set up camp with good cover and wait for that well geared hopper to open the front doors,

 most times he/she will loot the place clean and camp out....

 

But for that poor bastid that thinks he/she can just loot and scoot.....

Oh and its always FUN to hear someone looting inside, and then hear the panic of AK's and shottys fireing as another player logs in.... Good Times :lol:

The one and only time I got killed while loading is was in the middle of the woods west of Novo. I heard someone say something in Direct Chat but they were too far to make it out. Then Blam, and You Are Dead. All before I could even play.

In such case I'd log into an empty server and GTFO, so I can log in safely in a populated server. And I tend to play on servers that warn in case of upcoming restarts ;) People have more control over their faith then they like to admit.
