Character Movement

Recommended Posts

Can someone explain why my character walks at the pace of my grandmother when his gun is pointed?

There must be something messed up with my controls or something, why am I not able to do the brisk jog with my gun pointing?

I'm certain there is no way the developers made this change or purpose, no one is that incompetent.

What is wrong with my game?!

It's a design decision.

Your game is fine.

Game breaking, no doubt about it.

Hope you guys are ready for a shit storm regarding this foolish change.

As if getting over little hills isn't hard enough. Christ, I feel like I have cinder blocks attached to the soles of my shoes.

I've found another game breaking movement bug.

When I was PvP in military building I tried to do side jump like in Unreal Tournament/Quake and my character could only jump forward. Pls fix.

So happy the random noises are back in full force as well!

It's about time we are all put on edge again with completely random reload sounds, ammo shuffling, zombie calls and people crunching on cereal.

Imo its too slow. If i wanna shoot from the hip, i can move faster. It should be very slow while in ironsights, but not when firing from the hip :/

While the OP definitely has an eccentric way of explaining his frustration with the mechanics, I completely agree with him on the new readied-weapon movement.

It is and was absolutely too slow IMO. I do not really understand the reasoning behind changing it, but it has definitely affected combat for me in both regular, AND hardcore. I mean I think it would have been nice if they gave you an option to toggle between weapon-up speeds, but reducing it that way has dramatically altered combat, and makes it all that much less dynamic and exciting. Not to mention the issues with holstering and pulling out your weapons (STILL having issues with this) makes this decision to alter the movement speed even more baffling.

I mean if I guess I HAD to see some logic in this, I guess they want it in such a way that makes you have to choose between putting your weapon down to move faster or keeping it up to have the first shot advantage, but in a system where the mechanics and controls are currently so cumbersome, I don't understand adding even MORE mechanical doodads to the system...

still trying to wrap my head around this...

Funny how twitch shooters in certain aspects are more realistic than DayZ.

You CAN jog while aiming your gun IRL.

You CAN break into sprint from crouched position IRL.

Your body DOESN'T force you to walk if you go from standing jog into crouched position IRL (walk-jog toggle button completely loses purpose here).

You're NOT supposed to be slower in-game than IRL.

Two slow? We already run 30 mph. Jesus chrit, get used to it.

another perfect example of you missing the point completely and deflecting a reasonable discussion with the topic at hand. Thats cool that you have your opinion, but other people have opinions as well that differ from yours. So why not try to engage someone in a thought provoking conversation about the topic at hand rather than throwing your hands up in the air because someone doesn't think the way you do. Some of us would rather give feedback on things rather than just simply "getting used to it" like you do.

That's cool that you don't give two shits about the conversation, but there are people who do care. So there's the door if you can't contribute something constructive.

He talking about change in stances, like having to stand, double tap W to sprint or havingv to crouch then press double tap to move faster while crouched.

I agree with this, Caboose, you have a right to voice your opinion but when it not going to be useful just looks like your trying to troll.

Here's a thought for your complaints. Remap your double tap to a key that is convenient for you to use and it no longer us double tap. Example, I use the ctrl button to run. I rarely use my w key exceot indoors or combat. Instead of complaining use the tools provided to alleviate it.

To be honest this new movement system has only 1 PRO thing....reduces the general aiming movement speed while moving, making fights more realistic.

But the introduction of it doesn't mean a very good thing at all:

1- If you mind to remain on aiming, and you do want climb an hill....you will be slow as a turtle. I won't imagine firefights against those are on high ground.

2- Everyone will avoid firefights inside buidings....movement is so slow that is 100% guarranted that the one strafing is the one that dies

3- No one will climb the stairs anymore during the firefights...If you mind to aim and climb the stairs you are horribly slow and the one on high ground always win the fight.

Then i don't see the sense that i have to double tap to CRAWL RUN and so i'm forced to walk.

It's a more common usage to CRAWL RUN if you have to move, hide from someone or else....

If i want to walk i do it for stealth action and so then i press a button more....Becase it is an action that takes time and then can be done!

But while you're on Action and the adrenaline grows up you can't make players pressing buttons over buttons to get the hell out of the shi.t

You don't seem to be a people person to me.

Difference between complaining and pointing out bugs or something that shouldn't of been added.

The old system was better, reguardless how you sugercoat it or troll people.

according to dayz "realism", I cant run up a hill that I can two step in real life....

But as a compensation you can run just fine after being shot once or twice...or thrice if it's mosin.

PS.

And of course you run 300+ kilometers to that without needing a rest.
