Karmaterror 982 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) I too think they should be louder, I remember in the mod you could hear an as50 shot in about a 1km radius.....maybe more. I remember approaching electro from the west and being able to hear the snipers on the hill letting rounds off on the mod. Caboose has a point though, there is fixing to be done before what I would class as "balancing" by adjusting the sound volume :) Edited December 8, 2014 by Karmaterror

BeefBacon 1185 Posted December 8, 2014 Would be nice if distant gunshots sounded more like a crack or a pop. Sounds are placeholder at the moment, though.
Troll_Hunter 54 Posted December 8, 2014 Here a video about .223 .22LR suppressed and unsuppressed from an AR - supersonic -, and later .22 LR suppressed and unsuppressed from a P22 pistol - sub-sonic. http://youtu.be/x-XyAxQys1A As you can hear, there is a lot of room for improvements, including getting the sound to work all the time (bug repair), and enhancing the sounds so they match reality and the game's ambiance better. bobotype3334 160 Posted December 10, 2014 On the subject of zombies, who everyone seems to ignore ;_;If zombies are triggered by gunshot sounds, the triggered ones should be immune to being triggered by another gunshot for a minute, so that they don't get "confused" by multiple shots or two people firing at each other, and just follow the gunshot sound to the original person to take the shot without going off course.Unless, of course, they run into a Survivor on the way. Troll_Hunter 54 Posted December 10, 2014 (edited) Bobotype, I like to built on your idea, I suggest zombies going for the closest gunshot, within a mental memory of your minute. I would also have a sound level threshold for the zombies, so various loudness trigger different reactions, varying from looking, to running in rage mode towards it source and nearby warm bodies. rybec 339 Posted December 11, 2014 When plinking on crown land I can easily make out shooting that's nowhere near. It won't have the crack, more of a windy sound.Chernarus is more mountainous/hilly than this, I'm sure they'd be just as if not more audible.

thedogfoodyayho 295 Posted December 12, 2014 They definitely should be louder, but it needs to be (atleast slightly) realistic, not just the volume turned up. Shots sound alot deeper from a distance, and Hills, buildings, walls, and trees should ofc effect the noise. For some reason i love visiting family who live on farms becuase i hear Hunters shooting all the time. Alot of the times you won't even hear the distant one's unless your holding still. Even the sounds from walking can drown it out. In dayz with the player running 20km/h 24/7 and panting, you probably won't hear any over 3km away, And even if you could It would be really hard to tell what direction it's coming from.
