A very big complaint

Recommended Posts

I understand your frustration, many people played in Dayzmod and know the map like the back of their hands. When i started I was not familiar with DayzMod but this is what we did.

1 Find a low pop server to familiarize with game controls and mechanics and eat/drink

2 When comfortable, tell your friends to join said low pop server

3 each of you then proceed to the coast

4 keep the ocean to your right and run up the coast until one of you reaches the north east cities

5 when one of your reaches Berezeno for example then stop and tell your friends

6 wait for them as they run up the coast (keeping the ocean to the right)

7 you will all meet up in about an hour if not less

Ps  there are no FRIENDLY server since every one including Kos'ers can hop on any.

--What you waiting for?? Go try it!

:) Thanks for your consideration. We did most of those things, following the coast, watching the sun, I learned all the controls within around 15 minutes so it was all good. xD My two friends asked me at first. I don't see well but I can learn things very fast you see. We were trying to meet up in Novoselky but one of my friends kept dying, the other kept getting lost. She ended up in Chernogorsk

Girl with pink-haired anime avatar and random Japanese name complains about game for reasons OTHER than no tentacle monsters to take advantage of her.

Beans, I'm impressed.

o_O Actually she's a rabbit. I like anime a little, but only the clean anime. Only complaining because I am hoping somebody will listen in the future. I am not giving up on this game, so getting some frustration out will help me a bit. xD

Really? That's a shame. When I watched anime over a decade ago, the more tentacles the better!

Tell your friend to keep the coast to her right and STAY by the coast then she will not get lost.

yea, I know. I felt that way for the first 2 days. After about 500 deaths and extreme frustration, I just couldn't take it anymore. I know it will be awesome when we do meet up, but then eventually one of us will die, and it will just start all over again. x.x;;

I don't really understand the problem. Right now you spawn always in the east. Both of you walk with the sun to your right side until you reach the coast and railroad track (choose a calm server). You both run along the track until you both find a city name, now you both know where you are in relation to each other and can now follow the track towards each other.

Plus the blood loss while traveling makes it extremely difficult.

You can stop the blood loss by removing your t-shirt, tear it into rags and applying as a bandage.

OP - I hope you realise we're not having a go at you, just offering some justifications for some of the dilemmas you've described.

(Just for the record, I too have terrible eye sight, but at least in my case I can squint to read the signs. I can't obv speak for the level of eyesight you have.)

Your frustration all stems from being new. If you just push through the unfamiliarity you will enjoy yourself a whole lot more.

Echoing what others have said, most of the difficulties you experienced are due to lack of experience and bugs (zombies are bug-ridden currently), both of which will be taken care of in time.

It can be helpful to ask for a guide at first, who may know some tricks and even be able to give you some starting gear. A good player could probably have led you all to one another in a few hours tops, depending on spawn locations, and guarded you along the way, even if it was just until you met up.

But one huge thing to keep in mind is that this game has no rules regarding player interaction, and some people will be dicks. Arm yourselves, avoid the northeast part of the map, and play cautiously. You'll still die from time to time, but there aren't many games that can match the sense of adventure and accomplishment.

:P We have been trying for 4 days. Plus I don't see so well so it's harder for me to do things. I mostly like games for their creative side and not like hardcore live or die kind of things. I'm hoping there can be more than just regular and hardcore. Casual please ^u^

Why the shit are you playing DayZ then?

Once modding is open, everybody can have his fantasies.

Till then, PLEASE keep DayZ clean and preferably harder (wanted to say hardcore, but it is too soon to call it that way).

You must really suck as this game. It takes me 30 minutes max to find a friend if we both freshly spawn.

Get used to using road signs and road intersections/buildings to find out where you are on the map, then go from there, it really isn't that hard. Loot important buildings on your way to each other and you won't starve/get killed.

I guess this game just requires a little more thought process than "creative" people are capable of.

anyways...the first 30h or so where the most memorable...totaly lost...starving...ect...it was awesome...

now we lay in treelines observing people dicking around in berezino watching and laughing as they try to mash each others heads in or freshys running from Z' s. ( and then getting their heads mashed...) hilarious...

This are all issues EVERYONE has when they begin. I remember way back in the Mod the first time I hopped on and tried to find a friend who had been playing for a bit. Had to use the out of game map to have any clue. I was incredibly nervous around zombies and gun shots got my heart pumping. He was newish as well so we went in circles for a bit but finally met up. 40 minutes later we ran into a few people, both died and started the process all over.

After a while you learn tricks for figuring out where you are. You can follow the lay of the land and roads and come up with a rough idea of your location.

Tips:

Use Roads for navigation. Don't run on it but keep it in sight. You can then judge where you are on the map by how the road turns or buildings along it.

Road signs can pinpoint you. You don't even have to get near them, binoculars/scope can let you read them from a good way off.

Natural markers can be VERY helpful. Follow a stream, use a pond as a location to head to or a set of rocks.

There are towers or castles at very high locations, they can make a very nice fixed landpoint you can easily see and head towards even if you end up getting turned around.

You CAN actually navigate by the stars. If you know how to find the Northstar in real life you can find it in the game. Otherwise the server time and location of sun can help.

yes I know, but after a few times of doing this, your screen turns grayish. If you get into too many fights with zombies and lose too much blood, you can die very easily.

Oh, I take no offense. I was just a bit angry and kind went off in the post. No biggie. :) We will probably try again tonight using some of the tips provided. ^_^

Thanks. :) We will try again when we can. If it was easier to see the zombies coming I'd probably have a chance, but I tend to die very easy because of that. Poor vision + Zombie = run away xD

The bugs don't bother me so much, I just really prefer to play games with people I know.

You should check out the iZurvive app.

You can make a group on it that your buddies can join, find a town, find the name on the map then you can mark down your position. If your buddies do the same then you'll see where you all are and try meet in the middle.

You have to make/join a group to place markers but it seems like a good app anyway and it gets updated decently quick when stuff changes, even shows things like gun drops and helicopter crash sites.

Not used it to meet up with people myself but it's helped me navigate when I'm somewhere unfamiliar, especially awesome since my computer can't run a web browser and DayZ without dying.

Just note that it doesn't track your location you need to update it. So if you have to log out  place your marker and your friends can go logout there when they have to go and you'll all be together.

Why the shit are you playing DayZ then?

Perhaps you should read all my posts. I state that I enjoy zombie games, but I'm more a strategist than a combatative type. I like a little bit of challenge, but I don't like it if it's extreme. DayZ is interesting to me beacuse I can create stories for the character I create for fun, tell her story and draw pictures around it. Zombie and survival games are definitely my favorites because they are very strategic and fast paced usually. This game piqued my interest because one can find others and perhaps form a group, there will be others who want the things you have, and then of course I hope they allow your group to inhabit places. That would be nice.

Impossible? lol I know exactly every single spawn after only 500 hours. So yeah, you can't say it's impossible

Sounds funny "after only 500 hours" I know what you mean though.

I wasn't the one finding anyone. They were coming to where I was. You should read all my posts before you start slapping down negative opinions. My second friend didn't try to join me till day 2, and she had no idea how to play. My first friend was pregnant and afk a lot, plus she didn't know how to play either. We're going to try again but please remember that saying negative things has repercussions. And for the record, I know all about signs and such. Please, read my other posts.

No problem, forgot to mention that it's on Apple, not sure about Android. There's probably similar apps on Android if not though.
