blaeZ 95 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) This game is in alpha. You are automatically a tester from the second you step foot in this zombie survival game. The developers use us, as players to test their game whether we are putting in bug reports or not. We are definitely testing server stability every day. Why else would it be labeled as a early access alpha game? It's definitely not meant for your typical consumer. test·er1ˈtestər/noun a person who tests something, especially a new product. a person who tests another's proficiency. a device that tests the functioning of something. Nothing about being paid here. My point is, Dean put the game up for early access so he: 1). Doesn't have to hire a HUGE testing team to iron out every single bug. 2). Can get community feedback on how to make the game better. Testers get paid whenever they are hired by the company. We are not hired, but we are still testers. EDIT: And we actually do get compensated. For testing the game and reporting bugs, we get a progressively smoother experience and we get to have a voice in certain features of the game. We also get to talk to the devs and they put forth really valid and thorough answers (something I don't see that often with other games in development) Here's another: And another: Oh, I bet they don't get paid. de·vel·op·erdiˈveləpər/nounnoun: developer; plural noun: developers a person or thing that develops something. "a property developer" a person who grows or matures at a specified time or rate. "I was a slow developer" a chemical agent used for treating photographic film to make a visible image. Duhhhh... nothing about money in there... do developers get paid? Just in case you and Beck are still confused about whether you're testers or a consumers: The DayZ community aren't really testers, they just play.......The weapon [or any other element of the game] will have been tested in-house before it was patched into the public build. ChainReactor 922 Posted July 5, 2014 I know the Alpha-Reminder guys can be annoying when DayZ frustrades you once again, but they are right. Some seem not to be aware what they've paid for. You didn't pay for a game you will play, you paid for participating in the development of a game you find interesting. Thats not very common ( unlike let's say public betas ) but you get reminded of the facts before you buy and everytime you start up the game. DayZ SA is neither a finished product, nor did you pay for a fully working game. You've paid to participate and support the development of a software product. Theres no need to discuss wether a tester should be paid or not, you took the descision, and you knew the conditions ( at least if you read the terms and conditions :) ) Ofc this approach of crowd funding a game can be annoying and frustrating, but in exchange, DayZ already gave me (personally) hours of fun, adrenaline and emotions. Personal story from myself: Once a rather advanced character of me went into a firestation, rushed to the upmost floor of the tower when my pants exploded. Legs broken, pants ruined, everything in the pants ruined. You all know the bug. I crawled all the way back down and across the backyard of the fire station to chop a tree to craft a splint. Once the tree fell a Mosin spoke to me. Dead. Back on the coast, fresh spawn. Meet some other random fresh spawns ( I think we were four in the end ) and teamed up. Then a lone wolf thought he could do the bandit game with us ( he was halfway geared and attacked us after a little chat ). We four turned the tables, smashed that unoriented tard to unconsiousness with fists and shovels, looted his handcuffs, ragged him up, and invited him to a nais four-way-interview. Was one of my most statisfying DayZ experiences ever, and it happened because my last character glitched to death. I think the fun in DayZ right now is to simply keep on walking, doesn't matter how many times you need to start. If one chapter is over, turn the page and start reading the next one.
