Do you try to build an outfit, or just go for the best items. Do you pick a nice hat over a ballistic helmet?

I tend to end up with mil gear, though I do make sure I like my look. I have also gone for civ looks a plethora of times. I'll always pick a nice hat over the helmet and I'll never drop a green raincoat.

It depends. If I play with my friends, I usually go for military gear. If im playing alone, ill try to look as sexy as possible.

Normally if i can i dress up in one color, if i see red jogging trouser next to a red bandana and have a red coat on me allready, i'll go as vash the stampede DayZ edition and try to kill people with my magnum xD

 

somehow i got bored with the all-green look, and i dont really see a difference in spotting of enemy players

Does the ballistic helmet actually provide protection? Even if it does, it's going to be minimal (very rarely going to stop anything above a .45 ACP, and it's still pushing it.)

 

I like how the pilot helmet looks, for whatever reason. It's still military, but hardly anyone ever wears it because they think it looks bad (and in part to it being rare and all white). It also helps my mates distinguish me from the rest, as I'm usually the acting medic.

 

I will admit that I wear the TTsKo (or sometimes Gorka-E on experimental) pants for the extra storage, but I'll usually pick one of the plaid shirts (the red one is my favorite :))

Only thing I could take or leave, that's functional, is the MICH helmet.

 

I tend to run with a boonie, or, just carry both.

 

Oh, and I run with a raincoat rather than a tactical shirt. Looks cooler (although, when rain is actually a factor... look out), so, you got me there as well.

 

Normally, I do follow a "pick what looks cool, and get good with it" mentality. But there isn't really enough variety yet for me to follow that philosophy.

I pick the clothing that has the most slots and use the hunter backpack because it's less visible. As far as hats I don't wear ballistic or motorcycle helmets and I will happily discard any of the game's headgear for a pink beanie.

Function over form any day of the week. Normally, I wear camo BDU's, as they have the most storage space and makes it easier to hide from players. I also wear a boonie hat, but switch to a helmet when going into a city/near-certain combat.

Depends on Char i am playing after a death. I have Latishia Higgenbotthom, American born of English parents. A crack whore from the projects who was dumped by her parents at an early age when they returned to the mother land, struggling her way through the apoc. She wears whatever is warm but prefers blingy type stuff if possible, will dump her upper clothing at a moments notice. Swamp Dawg only wears hobo type bland dull clothing and a beanie. My full mental guy prefers all black with a wolf mask, the Hitman Horace goes for full camo low profile stuff. All of them generally end up with the improvised backpack.

I prefer looks. When I think of douchebags, I think of people wearing mountain packs, TTSKO, gas masks and a helmet. That's what a douchebag wears.

I like to dress like a crazy-ass bandit (pretty much anything with a payday mask). This makes being a hero ridiculously difficult (and i seem to be moving closer to the dark side as a result.....) but im having fun doin' it!

The ballistic helmet stops 5.56 without knocking the user out. I think up to three. Also, there have been reports of 7.62 headshots resulting in unconsciousness instead of death, when wearing it.

Regardless of who I play with I only wear civilian/hunter clothing and an assault vest which I pretend to be a hunter vest. lol. On Hardcore I have a down jacket though so I can't have the assault vest.

Up until the patch I wore minimal slot clothing to have a more natural look, like jeans, checkerd shirt, improvised pack. Now with fishing/hunting/cooking you really need much more inventory space to carry all the items needed to play that type of game.

Exactly, it's awesome. I think they need to expand on the headgear, honestly. If they added more helmets & hats I'm sure you'd see more than just the ballistic helmet 24/7. Perhaps a Stahlhelm or Russian T55 Tanker helmet, or my personal favorite; the American M1 helmet & British Brodie Helmet.
