Sooden 301 Posted June 7, 2014 Do you try to build an outfit, or just go for the best items. Do you pick a nice hat over a ballistic helmet?
liquidsnake 275 Posted June 7, 2014 I tend to end up with mil gear, though I do make sure I like my look. I have also gone for civ looks a plethora of times. I'll always pick a nice hat over the helmet and I'll never drop a green raincoat.
Aamunkajo 110 Posted June 7, 2014 It depends. If I play with my friends, I usually go for military gear. If im playing alone, ill try to look as sexy as possible.
Sooden 301 Posted June 7, 2014 i like to get a nice outfit with the new cotton coat, with a hat to mach and boots :P may have to use rain coat when weather matters. Just wanting for matching bag lol
Survivor_Ted 269 Posted June 7, 2014 I always go with a sweet look, don't care if I can't have those four extra slots. Try to look as much of a survivor as possible, rather than a soldier.
liquidsnake 275 Posted June 7, 2014 If we'd have a proper leather jacket, I'd wear it even if it had one slot B)
Sooden 301 Posted June 7, 2014 style>function:) if you goanna die, leave a good looking corps
ZomboWTF 527 Posted June 8, 2014 Normally if i can i dress up in one color, if i see red jogging trouser next to a red bandana and have a red coat on me allready, i'll go as vash the stampede DayZ edition and try to kill people with my magnum xD somehow i got bored with the all-green look, and i dont really see a difference in spotting of enemy players
Chaingunfighter 917 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Does the ballistic helmet actually provide protection? Even if it does, it's going to be minimal (very rarely going to stop anything above a .45 ACP, and it's still pushing it.) I like how the pilot helmet looks, for whatever reason. It's still military, but hardly anyone ever wears it because they think it looks bad (and in part to it being rare and all white). It also helps my mates distinguish me from the rest, as I'm usually the acting medic. I will admit that I wear the TTsKo (or sometimes Gorka-E on experimental) pants for the extra storage, but I'll usually pick one of the plaid shirts (the red one is my favorite :)) Edited June 8, 2014 by Chaingunfighter
Katana67 2907 Posted June 8, 2014 Only thing I could take or leave, that's functional, is the MICH helmet. I tend to run with a boonie, or, just carry both. Oh, and I run with a raincoat rather than a tactical shirt. Looks cooler (although, when rain is actually a factor... look out), so, you got me there as well. Normally, I do follow a "pick what looks cool, and get good with it" mentality. But there isn't really enough variety yet for me to follow that philosophy. -Gews- 7443 Posted June 8, 2014 I pick the clothing that has the most slots and use the hunter backpack because it's less visible. As far as hats I don't wear ballistic or motorcycle helmets and I will happily discard any of the game's headgear for a pink beanie.
Whyherro123 2283 Posted June 8, 2014 Function over form any day of the week. Normally, I wear camo BDU's, as they have the most storage space and makes it easier to hide from players. I also wear a boonie hat, but switch to a helmet when going into a city/near-certain combat.
hells high 676 Posted June 8, 2014 I do something different each time, if I did the same thing again and again I'd get bored.
Sooden 301 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) I do something different each time, if I did the same thing again and again I'd get bored. i can understand, this spawn, i am being base ball girl, no back pack, no guns, just sports wear and a bat :) added: oh and the all powerful bobble hat Edited June 8, 2014 by Sooden
Hetstaine 10852 Posted June 8, 2014 Depends on Char i am playing after a death. I have Latishia Higgenbotthom, American born of English parents. A crack whore from the projects who was dumped by her parents at an early age when they returned to the mother land, struggling her way through the apoc. She wears whatever is warm but prefers blingy type stuff if possible, will dump her upper clothing at a moments notice. Swamp Dawg only wears hobo type bland dull clothing and a beanie. My full mental guy prefers all black with a wolf mask, the Hitman Horace goes for full camo low profile stuff. All of them generally end up with the improvised backpack.
Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted June 8, 2014 I prefer looks. When I think of douchebags, I think of people wearing mountain packs, TTSKO, gas masks and a helmet. That's what a douchebag wears. Looking sexy in the apocalypse can take you far.
Murlough 192 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) I like to dress like a crazy-ass bandit (pretty much anything with a payday mask). This makes being a hero ridiculously difficult (and i seem to be moving closer to the dark side as a result.....) but im having fun doin' it! maninthewall 470 Posted June 8, 2014 Always go for tshirt, caps and jeans, I hate the military look

I think up to three. Also, there have been reports of 7.62 headshots resulting in unconsciousness instead of death, when wearing it.I, too, love the pilot helmet. I always RP as a crashed russian heli pilot when I find one
The-MCV- 149 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Regardless of who I play with I only wear civilian/hunter clothing and an assault vest which I pretend to be a hunter vest. lol. On Hardcore I have a down jacket though so I can't have the assault vest. Edited June 8, 2014 by DontGoToBalotaAlone
Sistinas1973 50 Posted June 8, 2014 Up until the patch I wore minimal slot clothing to have a more natural look, like jeans, checkerd shirt, improvised pack. Now with fishing/hunting/cooking you really need much more inventory space to carry all the items needed to play that type of game.
skypig 139 Posted June 8, 2014 black radar cap, riders jacket, black jeans/cargos, black boots, chest holster and sawed off for screwing around.or green hoodie, green or beige pants and baseball cap, pistol and survival gear for serious surviving play lol
dricht1 28 Posted June 8, 2014 Form and function. Black tactical clothing and moto helmet, press vest, improvised backpack.

If they added more helmets & hats I'm sure you'd see more than just the ballistic helmet 24/7. Perhaps a Stahlhelm or Russian T55 Tanker helmet, or my personal favorite; the American M1 helmet & British Brodie Helmet.
