If they would outright come out and say it is because of some kind of engine limitation or hive restriction people would be more willing to Accept this.

However if it is a design restriction people are right to be angry if not annoyed.

What a fucking cop out. Like, lmao. Weapon calibers is like a 3 second thing to implement. It's easily coded. Then all you need is someone to render the ammo, which would not take long at all, and then the box itself and 2D art. It's not exactly rocket science and would be about half a days work, at the most.

I also design maps and levels. Building a game is a team effort dawg, so don't give me that shit. Fucking cop out.

At any point did they say they didn't want to add ammo types because it was difficult?

You are quite obviously ignorant and most certainly live up to your name.  That was a childish response lacking any real value and showed how little you understand the design part of game development.

I'm sorry but what? That was a reply to YOUR childish statement. I even stated in prior posts I am voicing my concern over this terrible DESIGN DECISION. Any other reason listed for not doing it is illogical and is pure laziness. The streamlining of the game to cater to the brain dead like yourself frustrates many of us.

It would be nice to know their reasoning, and why they're doing it.

Im telling you, more and more people are going to continue to leave this game.  Its getting filled with script kiddies, shoddy foundation yet the DEV team continues to just want to stack more content on the pile.  Now we hear they are going to dumb down the Ammo depth of the game.  They had a cult following now they just have little kids.  Its a sad thing because i love this game for what it is and hate it for everything it wont be.

I have been against this thread only because i feel everyone is scattered about, we all see the shoddyness with the Zeds, buildings, and many of other things.

So instead of focusing fire at the DEV team to give us a Stable foundation, they release what they want to do and what they are changing and we come flocking to banter at each other about minute ideas.

Distract easily, your are!!

I'm willing to let the zeds slide and all that because I believe that will be resolved eventually. This design decision irritates me because it just means more and more streamlining is to come. If they feel that ammo diversity is unimportant, what else are they willing to do that will just detract from the game.

Hello There

You cannot speak for the devs, so do not state that more streamlining is to come. You simply do not know.

Also, remember EVERYTHING is subject to change at this stage.

All we can do is discuss the issues that are present now and propose solutions/compromises.

Lastly, the devs ARE building a stable foundation. Thats what is happening at the moment.

How is reducing the number of firearms and ammo types dumbing anything down?

Why is it a terrible design decision, because you say it is?

Fewer ammo types is a perfectly reasonable design choice since it frees up carrying superfluous ammo and increases the usability of the firearms that they chose to add.

Could they add more guns and ammo types?  Is it that difficult?  Not in the least.

But characterizing it as lazy shows a remarkable lack of understanding.  Of course you get all mad, you really don't know how things work.

There certainly is frustration.  There are three or four people constantly posting complaints and making bizarre claims concerning game design and ballistics, as though everyone was an expert.  You aren't.  They aren't.  Don't pretend you are.

If they feel that ammo diversity is unimportant, what else are they willing to do that will just detract from the game.

But that's not logical. You're essentially making the "slippery slope" argument, which isn't based in precedent or even fact necessarily.

Look at all of the other stuff that's been made more complex.

Clothing, the attachment system, fireplaces, crafting, enterable buildings, etc. There are systems, staring you blatantly in the face, that haven't been streamlined... they've been made more complex. If they wanted to streamline the experience as a whole, then they'd've left the buildings alone... left the one-size-fits-all clothing of ARMA II... and left the survival aspects of the game where it was. But they haven't.

Look at all of the other stuff that's slated to be included. Construction, vehicles and their subsequent revamp, the zombie experience is being made more dynamic, etc.

You can disagree with the design choices on an INDIVIDUAL SYSTEM. But making sweeping generalizations about the "direction" of the game pulls your grievance further and further away from applicability. It doesn't serve what you're trying to accomplish. If you disagree with their streamlining the AMMUNITION system, then advocate against it all you like. But the second you draw a broader conclusion about a vague "direction" of a game, you're inevitably discrediting your own position.

If you disagree with X, say you disagree with X. Don't say you disagree with X, Y, Z, the turkey in the oven, and Jimmy down the street.

I agree with you, it is a slipper slope they have come to with this decision.  My thing is everyone should have seen this already, they have been making very very shoddy moves from the start.  Zombie Rabbit noises, no hacker protection let alone script blocking.  Possible source code being stolen.**Like why would that even be near the network to begin with** Buildings that spit you out or have no actual roof.

I am the opposite, i just think it is a bad idea to want to release new content when there is so much that can be fixed right now.  If you have a crappy foundation all of the ADD INS are going to get lost in the sauce because ohh wait damn, shit is still broken.  I dont want a brand new toy to play with in the mud, if that makes any sense.  I am part of a clan who has the number 1 ranked server in USA and 5th overall and we are about to cancel it because well, we have been sick of this snails pace garbage.  Game is amazing and i wanted DayZ to own this genre, they have been shooting their own feet over and over again.

There is already an amazing MoD for ArmAIII and  thats all im going to say about that.

I still feel if we focused fire and actually let them know we are not happy with zombie rabbits and half ass foundation they would take us seriously.  Copies are being sold like hot cakes at a fat camp, it will never happen and they will more than likely not give a shit and continue to streamline workings until this game has been ruined due to people crying about difficulty, Devs getting fed up, and server owners moving on to bigger and better things.

From Chris Torchia:

Thoughts? In a game that aims for realism do we (the users) not care about guns being chambered in the right caliber?

I couldn't care less about the different calibers. There's more than enough variety in the game already IMO. I'm glad they aren't planning on adding anymore different ammo types.

Thats all i want, i dont want vehicles, i dont need tents, i dont need base building, i dont need pathing Zeds,  I just want stable gameplay with no issues other than internet issues and the desync :)

Ive stated before, this was the game that got me back on my PC, this is the game i want to blow the doors in on anything else that tries to copy or mimic it.

Obviously i am not a DEV nor do i poses half of the skills to even claim i know what im talking about.  But from a marketing and good practice stand point, i say save the awesome shit they are working on and give us our cake when we have an amazing smooth table to eat it off of!

Much love

People seem to forget that this is a game, you can have realism in a game without going over the top.

I want to escape the real world when I play games, not be thrust into some cyber imitation of it.

It's like people want this game to be second life with added realistic weaponry and defecation

Then standalone should have downplayed the mod and let everyone know that the game would be nothing like the mod then.

Let people know that standalone would have nothing that made the mod successful.

None of the mil sim aspect.

cause it reflects directly on the ammo rarity and consequently on the gameplay.

When you have 10 kinds of ammunition, the virtual chance of finding a specific kind of ammo is way slimmer than having every fucking thing in the game fire one of three catridges.

Not to mention ammo stacking by killing other people, as everybody will use pretty much the same ammo. The game's already a mindless deathmatch, dump down the ammo rarity and we have the golden COD running simulator with ghost-zombies.

Seriously, it shouldnt be even considered. Weapons are one of the main features of the game, and they keep fucking their system over and over again. In a game that's a simulator-wannabe, there's just no place for extremely casual mechanics like magic attachments, random dispersion, non authentic calibers, etc.

What's next? Making cars be repaired with just one item? putting just one kind of food in the game?

it's laziness at its best.

Still, will 5.45x39 be an option? It's a pretty ubiquitous cartridge, it's chambered in practically every service arm of the Slavic world.

Agreed?

Because if not, I'll feel very betrayed. So would the lore, as the CDF use the AK-74.

Oh my god. Couldn't have said it better myself. But doesn't matter, that doesn't make sense to any of the people who enjoy the gimmicky mechanics.

This is the perfect example of a player who will get this game nerfed to shit and why streamlining will happen,  The game was made to be a survival simulator with zeds!!  Of course people want it to be like a second life, that is what made this game successful.

Some of you guys are ridiculous with your "sky is falling" nonsense.

by these little decisions from the dev team, we can see clearly where the game's going.

So i take it you love casual mindless shooters?  There are plenty of games for you to play if this one is to difficult for the little kids.  Eh never mind you guys have been flaming in these forums getting the game watered down just like with any other game of difficult play style.  Fucking horrid.

These comments get better and better, keep them coming guys.

Really? You possess clairvoyance and are able to infer the outcome of the completed game based on its status as an uncompleted alpha?

You sir forgot to read, so happy acting like a troll that you forgot i said one key word "Like" a second life, its pretty obvious that it wont be "A second life".

Do yourself a favor and slow down a little and read, then go play Arma and tell me that isnt a simulator.  As someone who played with military arms for a long time i can tell you that it is very very real.

This game, was stated to be a simulator of surviving a zombie apoc, while surviving with other players.

Now i ask you.....How has this been comical?

Remember read and comprehend what your are reading before flaming out about a comment you do not truly understand

Cool story bro.

I've been playing Dayz since about a month after the mod was released, and I don't intend on going anywhere.

You and yours act as though the game is shipping in 2 weeks and this is the last minute push. There are MONTHS left to go before this even gets to beta, and yet you rail against the flaws in it like its a finished game.
