scriptfactory 620 Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) I think that this change will effectively give clans that own servers a significant advantage if they are allowed to keep kicking. Maybe only spawn the mags in the western part of the map? I just went through an unlooted Balota and didn't find a single m4 mag. So I suspect they will also only spawn at helicrash sites. AKM mags are really rare as well though. Rocket mentioned they would change it from clientside to serverside so mags couldnt be hacked anymore. If that is in they should definitely do a general characterdatabase reset when this patch goes stable. Katana67 2907 Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) Pretty rad, but I think there are a few factors that need to happen before it (helicopter spawns) can be effective. Likewise, I think there are a few things that need to happen as well with regard to the weapons. 1. Helicopter spawns need to actually spawn useful weapons. Right now, there's no real utility in using an M4 versus an SKS versus an AK versus a Mosin. There aren't enough "high-end" weapons included to justify a fully significant helicopter spawn. In other words, I won't go searching for helicopter crashes unless something useful/extraordinary spawns there. And the M4 just isn't that useful/extraordinary by comparison to weapons spawning elsewhere. 2. Magazines, first, should be separated from ammunition. I don't necessarily want to find a full magazine every time I come across one. Second, I'd like to see STANAG mags, 5.56x45, and M4 attachments still able to spawn outside of helicopter spawns (albeit at a lower rate). 3. Helicopter crashes need to be divorced from server restarts. They need to be randomized and/or dynamic, only. Server restarts, ostensibly, will become infrequent. One bullet stayed in the clip after spraying.So hopefully it's all fixed, unless there is some other way i don't know about. Ok Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Rocket said they are, or were, set up so it picks a random X,Y coordinate and spawns a crash as the game goes on. Not sure if it still works like that (or if it ever really worked like that, as it clearly wasn't random, I never saw a helicopter crash north of Petrovka [since deleted town] ever, or in the woods). Found the quotes by him Random crashes like the mod. The current models are placeholder, the art team will be making special models. They were random in the mod. At least, when I wrote the initial script it was. It selected a random x & y location, spawned the helicopter, on server start.But not dynamic, as you say. I guess that means they are only on restart at the moment, which is a bit disappointing and I hope changes. The mod was like that initially but I think the community changed it, so they'd spawn through out up until restart. It would have been a nice addition currently so as to actually have some form of loot "spawning," since now it will still be first come first serve. But oh well, I think they just wanted to get it in at this point so I'm sure things will change. In the mod I think they were basically random in any field, except some of the southern ones (never saw one close to cherno or elektro, or basically along the coast) and probably some of the far northern ones. Also Mosins are not exactly around every town nowadays , yet we see them often. If anything Mosins should be rare if we're talking reality. Just my Opinion Nor are modified Kimber Warriors (M1911 in-game), Amphibian S (Amphibia S), FNXs, or Blaser B95s (Blaze 95). Not sure if I agree that Mosins are rare, because they can be bought for less than $100 USD. While I don't think the M4A1 in particular is deserving of a helicopter spawn, I think it's a good model for other weapons once they're implemented. Hopefully, the M4A1 will be re-added to the normal military loot once there are a few more "high-end" weapons out there which really warrant a helicopter-only spawn. Because right now, though this is a good basis and proof-of-concept, the M4 isn't really any better than an SKS, AKM, or Mosin.
