Etherious 907 Posted May 20, 2014 Thought he said only after they implement the new renderer that they will once again review on the problem again. Doesn't guarantee a fix =/The new renderer will be DX10/11 and it WILL fix the lighting problem. :) before the release they said "we have a new engine. we can make soooo much cool things with it. it doesnt Limit us like the arma2 engine!" yet now they come and say shit like this! i am ok with the slow progressoin of developement. atleast they do something! but dont sell shit as Gold!!!!Yes, your correct. But, they are not trying to sell "shit" as gold. They said new engine not new renderer, that is the key point. The problem with lighting is the current renderer. FrostDMG 398 Posted May 20, 2014 I love the fact this bug also exists in Arma 3 and nobody seems to care lol...

The engine isn't limiting them. You clearly don't understand what an engine is. They can do pretty much anything with the engine, but doing anything takes X amount of time. They are also not replacing the engine, but the renderer.
brumey 116 Posted May 20, 2014 if u want to implement Features that the engine doesnt allow .... ITS LIMITING YOU! they already sold us shit as Gold! 2 Million bought the Alpha thinking that they made a new engine from the ground up!
scriptfactory 620 Posted May 20, 2014 if u want to implement Features that the engine doesnt allow .... ITS LIMITING YOU! This statement is 100% true. That being said, it doesn't make sense to implement try to fix a bug that won't exist (or will be easier to fix) after they replace the renderer.
irl-calibre 744 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) You are always going to bump into hackers too,so what is your point?Stop defending night time for the sake of the argument, when you know that there are some serious issues with it.Gamma explotation and flashlight "beacons" that illuminate the whole city are 2 bugs that are almost gamebreaking. They need to be fixed and imo, should be a high priority. my point is, it has never been any other way in this game, and doesn't deter those that enjoy playing at night playing anyway in much the same way neither did NVG's or Thermal scopes, no one is forcing you to play in Darkness you can play in daylight all the time if you want? same as no one is forcing you to play with your gamma cranked to the point it looks completely pants. personally one of the simplest things they could do to help with the problem is to simply hotkey all lights on and off to "f" really annoying that you can toggle a weapon flashlight off in your hand, but not on the gun, know what I mean? victusmortuus 1074 Posted May 20, 2014 So you whine about something, you get proven wrong, then you say "well ok, but I'm losing hope regardless." Some people... When Rocket said it's a flawed project he lost me and a quite a few people.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted May 20, 2014 This just in: ~$40,000,000 and a doubled development team can't fix light shining through walls in a video game. More at 6.
zeroy 240 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) Looks like due to "engine limitations" light will forever be able to shine through walls in Day-Z. You cant read mate? Hello everyone,The devs had a look at the issue and unfortunately, at this point in time it is indeed not possible to fix due to engine limitations. However, the devs are currently reworking the renderer. Once work on the renderer is done, we will assess the situation and see what things look like at that point in time.Regards,JStewart Edited May 20, 2014 by zeroy99
joe_mcentire 2074 Posted May 20, 2014 Isnt it strange that the sunlight gets blocked by trees, you can see your lights during the day now.. and they cannot fix the light through walls issue? I mean I can live with it as its always been in dayz, but it seems strange to only have those particular limitations. There is a difference between ambient and directional light though
Jex 1104 Posted May 20, 2014 The engine needs making from the ground up and should have been the moment dayz went viral. An engine based around a persistent decaying world populated by infected/undead tailored exactly for such things as playing at night, zombies that work and are a real threat, etc. They'd be about releasing an alpha around now.....
