Murdochd 0 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) I like this game, brutal but real. However, every time I play it, i feel woozy and wanna puke like getting a carsick. (I really mean it.) I cannot play this game for more than one hour (less than 30m when I was in a black-white situation), but I can play dark soul2, tomb rider, COD etc. for more than 5 hours. I tried different graphic configs but it's not helping. Could anyone help me? Thank you guys! :P :P :P I feel much better after got rid of head bob and post-processing. gibonez 3633 Posted May 16, 2014 Sucks man some people just suffer from more motion sickness than others. Try setting your fov settings higher and turn off head bob. That should help.
weedmasta 784 Posted May 16, 2014 I also suggest trying to turn off post-processing.
odin_lowe 3686 Posted May 16, 2014 Like gibonez said, I would suggest turning off the head bobbling completely. Also, is your monitor big, and you are close to it? Getting a bit further away and seeing more of the static surroundings helps. If it's not happening in other games, I'm not to sure what else could help you. I hope you find a way! meiz22 17 Posted May 16, 2014 Yeah I'm guessing it's head bob. I can't stay in Arma or Dayz very long if head bob is enabled due to getting that carsick sort of feeling but if it's off i can spend a few hours playing.

I get the same from certain engines,. Edited May 16, 2014 by Trigger Hippy

Irish. 4886 Posted May 16, 2014 FOV settings.. can make you feel sick Get rid of any "fisheye" or "warping" of the world via the FOV settings.. and you should have a better experience. Hopefully..
FrostDMG 398 Posted May 16, 2014 Increase FOV - this is something very common that affects a lot of gamers. Too tight of an FOV will make you feel like you're looking at the game zoomed in - gives me a headache. Turn headbob off - I leave this on, but only a little bit, however I'd suggest you turn it off. Try 3rd person when not going through towns etc.

Mos1ey 6301 Posted May 16, 2014 As above - 1) Mess around with your FoV. Try both increasing and decreasing it.2) Disable head bob. It's the main cause of motion sickness for a lot of players.3 Disable post-process effects as it causes blurring that may cause motion sickness.
Trigger Hippy 176 Posted May 16, 2014 Wait. You get carsick without oculus rift or something like that? Wow, that's really unusual. It isn't. Your eyes are telling your brain you are moving but the balance centres in your ears are telling it you aren't, the confusion causes nausea.

stryker007 39 Posted May 16, 2014 My dad is the same, he can play ye olde quake for hours but any recent stuff? no way. He's been to docs and optitians for advice and he's often told its to do with the refresh rate his pc is managing depending on the game. There's a magic FPS that triggers his headaches. Trigger Hippy 176 Posted May 16, 2014 Then why doesn't this happen too me?(Well, I don't have headbobbing or HDR or that post processing shit) It doesn't effect everyone, bud. not everyone gets travel sick or sea sick. Just depends how you are put together, ps...stop commenting ion here, Gabe, and get on with Half Life 3 ;)

Yep...I get it from the engine they used on Duke Nukem 3D, but not Quake. Most engines are fine for me, but there's one or two that are bad. Borderlands...that game almost made me hurl. BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) It isn't. Your eyes are telling your brain you are moving but the balance centres in your ears are telling it you aren't, the confusion causes nausea. Problem is that the OP says it only happens in this game, not in other games that similarly causes your eyes to tell your moving etc. And yeah, then there's the problem of most people not getting this even on DayZ. So it definitely needs further explanation than just that. Edited May 16, 2014 by BadAsh

You have to apply a 'mod' to get rid of it.
irl-calibre 744 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) It isn't. Your eyes are telling your brain you are moving but the balance centres in your ears are telling it you aren't, the confusion causes nausea. You're not quite right, nausea in video games is cause by a conflict of the information your brain is trying to process from your acute vision & peripheral vision. it's about the players eyes & the screen, that is why a standard games console uses fov of 60 degrees (about the size of the cone of acute vision) as most people playing are sitting on a sofa playing on a big TV, when your eyes are closer to the screen 60 degree FOV bleeds into peripheral vision causing you to feel sick so you need to widen it by setting the fov higher, or move further back from the screen. try sitting further away from your screen / adjust FOV / turn headbob off.. LigerRider 82 Posted May 17, 2014 Every 5-10 minutes, try looking away from your monitor and focus your eyes on something distant for a good 20 seconds, then continue playing.
Vodski 7 Posted May 17, 2014 I don't remember if this game has motion blur, but if it does, it might help to turn it off. It gives me a headache when I play games with it, like Planetside 2, or Left 4 Dead.
JackinatorLP 21 Posted May 17, 2014 Increasing fov helped me a lot, decreasing it made it worse.
