Do you think the aiming cursor should be in the game?

Firstly, they should be there for picking stuff up or maybe the vicinity thing could be tweaked so it knows you're looking to pick something in front of you up rather than having to look right at it.

 

Anyway so shooting is just ridiculously easy in this game and the cursor is why, nobody has a cursor in real life so why in the game? It makes third person view even more godly since you can look over walls and not have to use the iron sights or y'know, have some skill at shooting.

 

 

I think they should remove the cursor completely so that there's actually something of a learning curve for shooting, in reality no random guy in a survivor situation can just instantly have near perfect aim so it would be cool if people actually had to judge where to aim.

When not using the iron sights or a scope it's always going to be a "aim somewhere in the middle" kind of deal but not definite.

 

Just firing with your gun raised, not looking down the sights is far from easy.

Im all for it going, only way to fire from the hip is to guess :)

Wait... there's crosshairs in SA now? Shows I haven't played it in a good bit...

Their should still be  a system to easily point a loot to identify and pick up.

I would like the dot crosshair removed from combat, but kept in to manipulate items in the world/pick stuff up etc

Their should still be  a system to easily point a loot to identify and pick up.

 

Well I did wait and see if any similar topic titles came up, all I got was one about pooping :lol:

 

 

Well yeah but even if they do it shouldn't be a case of aiming at one part of the screen, without using the iron sights there should be a good amount of swaying so putting a dot on their screen only gives them a general area, they might shoot to the left of the dot or all round the dot and everywhere but the dot.

 

That's how it should work, people should have to use the iron sights to have decent aim without them it should be like blind fire that's in various games, though less extreme.

No aiming cross-hair please, it needs to go. Too easy, especially shooting from the hip.

The crosshair has always been there. The first one looked like this:

its not that easy. getting rid of an indicator completely would not further realism, it would detract from it.

 

 i think cursors should adjust dynamically to the task at hand, and the simplest way to accomplish that is make them change depending on the item in hand

 

in real life, your hand-eye coordination allows you to know exactly what you are looking at, and point/touch/grab at exact that position. the cursor should indicate what you are looking at. so when empty-handed, a precise dot can be appropriate. it may also be appropriate with short-range tools like a hammer, a knife etc.

 

shooting a weapon is an entirely different situation. so imho, when holding a gun but not aiming down the sights, the cursor should change into a frame, letting you have a good guess in which area the bullet will probably hit, but not knowing the sway. thus you can pretty much be sure that you can hit a person standing three meters away, but you cant be sure whether you hit arm, body or face.

Take it out completely. It only takes  a few hours to adjust.

thats something i would imagine fitting for small arms hipfire - but thats a matter for weapon balancing in the beta

Hello there

 

I would like the mechanic for picking up things revamped entirely.

 

As for the cursor to be turn on and offable by the server or by the player on "easy" servers.

 

Also for the "easy" servers a circular aiming ring as pointed out above by e47 would be nice.

I heard it was being taken out, but when I asked my group what they thought of it a bunch of them said "I'll just put a dot on my screen". so.........yeah.....can't fix the people.

Never played on easymode servers, this is probably why I havent seen it.
