nurdseprem 38 Posted May 9, 2014 Hello there, all i see is people complaining about complainers, with the Argument : Its only a Alpha and the Devs know what to do. Now this is WRONG! Some Devs are lazy and don't have enough motivation to do things properly. And when people say this game is broken, fix it ... then thats a valid argument. You can't simply say "Ohh wait till its final and it will be great" because thats exactly what Devs think about, they think "ohh people are sorting out shit for me, i can do whatever i want". Now what we need to do is ... TELL the Devs hey listen up, the first thing to do is to fix the main engine before adding useless stuff. Instead of going "Its only alpha". When the devs get some pressure and negativity then they will work faster and do their job better.

Loopest 60 Posted May 10, 2014 Before I write this, I wanted to give credit to 'SideStrafe', a YouTuber that came up with a good thing to discuss. Why isn't development progressing with $66 million dollars already made? Look, I know that it is in alpha, but DayZ has some serious competitors. H1Z1, the new novokick game, and dozens are probably already in development from AAA developers. Pretty soon, adding fruit and new guns to the game is not gonna be enough to please the fans. I really like DayZ, but with $66 million dollars at hand and a slow development process, DayZ is gonna end up getting killed by H1Z1. Development should be progressing sooo much faster with the money it has made. This is not a rant, it is a message from a lot of fans that want this game to be great. Let me know what you guys think below. Thanks, Nathan E.
Loopest 60 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) Also, I have been playing the mod and the standalone for 1,000+ hours altogether, so I'm not a newbie that is ranting for attention. Edited May 10, 2014 by Loopest

jameslennoxhood 74 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) Hmm, i may have been cynical of the dev team in the past, but something tells me the next couple of months is gonna see some huge improvements in DayZ!! I can only hope that im right!!! Edited May 10, 2014 by JamesLennoxHood

Cute Carl Grimes 84 Posted May 10, 2014 1. Money does not make time.2. AAA developers are evil and all good gamers boycott their trend following games.
preacherlr 614 Posted May 10, 2014 they hired a whole group of people to help with developing the zedstherefore they are having faster developmenttherefore you aren't paying close enough attention and simply assume development is slow when in fact this game is going very fast for an alphaThis, And what Irish said.
emigrates 261 Posted May 10, 2014 Why isn't development progressing with $66 million dollars already made? Taxes, Steam's cut of the money, licensing, staff take, systems investment, developments. Just because you punched $33.00 times by 2,000,000 it doesn't mean that $66,000,000 goes straight to development. There are so many other pockets that money has to go into. The only thing money cannot by is time, and time my friend - is what development actually needs. Sit tight, kill some freshies and wait for the development to roll in. jasonb 10 Posted May 10, 2014 While development has been seemingly achingly slow - whatever happened to the patch promised in April? Where is the communication that tells us why nothing was released? I think the problem is lack of communication. The devs could be working their assess off but as long as we don't know whats going on behind the scenes the community will 'assume' often the worst. It's really simple rocket. If there's a problem with development, why there was no patch released etc please tell us about it. Don't leave us in the dark. Would fix a friggin thousand things if we just got a weekly post of whats up every week. I too believe that in the next couple of months DayZ will be rapidly receiving updates and this is just the prep phase for future content. We'll see.

"I would say that we sacrificed the last few months in preparation for the next six months. We hired a very large number of new people, that means development slows a little because these people must be trained, adjust, etc...These people have now gotten used to the engine and are just starting to produce serious results. I think the next few months should demonstrate this." -Dean Hallhttp://www.reddit.com/user/rocket2guns http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/252ip9/what_is_the_status_of_day_z_right_now/ Edited May 10, 2014 by Weyland Yutani
Covance 5903 Posted May 10, 2014 You decided to pay for Early Access, while being aware that updates might come at regular, or irregular times. Therefore you declared yourself ready to enjoy the currently avaiable build, while waiting for updates to come in the future. You didn't pay for updates to come fitting your own personal needs though. It's up to the devs. If you don't like the current state of DayZ standalone, either deal with it and keep playing, or abandon it for a while and come back, once updates have been applied to the SA version. If you wanted to play a finished product, you should've waited for the finished product to be on sale. But you didn't. Therefore, you'll wait for groundbreaking updates just like anybody else.
Irish. 4886 Posted May 10, 2014 While development has been seemingly achingly slow It simply has not. Its been out since December. Games take longer than 4-5 months to develop out of an early alpha stage. You want to see what money does to rush a game? Look at the COD and BF games. Consumers suffer when developers lose control of the ability to take the time to do it right. Billions can be made, and serious mistakes will still be present. I could go on and on for at least an hour on why people need to relax and do some more research on what it means to be part of an early release alpha. But that would be crazy.. and Im fresh out today.
BonnyBrown 28 Posted May 10, 2014 The answer to your question is in the question itself. They already got the money, how much more you think they will generate if they develop that much faster? Most people who wanted already bought, there's little money to be made over the long haul at this point. Slow and steady will keep some people employed and the bulk of the money can fund other parts of the business/bonuses for those at the top.

maybeme 22 Posted May 10, 2014 Have you played GTA V? It sold millions, upon millions of copies in the first week, with RockStar taking in somewhere around 360 MILLION dollars in the first three days. Then they released multiplayer, which was sped up and demanded by players. Their MP was plagued with people who've tricked the DNS server and everyone had billions of dollars. It destroyed the online economy and the whole point of the game. I don't think it will ever recover and be the same. You have to have patience; I want this game to be good and almost perfect the first time stuff is released, not after everyone leaves.
GrappleX 354 Posted May 10, 2014 What emigrates said. Just because the game costs x, and they've sold y, doesn't mean that x times y is how much money they have to work with. So many other hands take a share of that. Money does not equal progress.
bastins 14 Posted May 10, 2014 As the others have said, money does not necessarily translate to progress. They can hire more talent, which I believe they have done, but the work itself still takes time, especially if you want to get it right. Second, I'm seeing a lot of people bringing up H1Z1 as a serious competitor, and killer of rival zombie games. While I, too, am looking forward to trying this game, can we please save the talk of "serious competition" until we've actually played the game? Again, I'm looking forward to trying H1Z1... it's just that gamers these days seem to have gotten really good at letting their imaginations and expectations run wild.
