You are fully geared, would you shoot these people?

  1. 1. A man with ruined pants and no shirt is wielding an M4 with damaged/ruined attatchments looks like he just came out of NEAF, but barely alive.

    • Yes I would fire
    • Let them live another day
  2. 2. You see two men with pistols running into a village nearby, they look to have plenty of pockets and seem to have looted the hospital

    • Yes I would fire
    • Let them live another day
  3. 3. You see two fully geared TTsKO mosin LRS snipers overwatching NWAF they seem to be gaurding their friend at the firestation 600m away

    • Yes I would fire
    • Let them live another day

I too have gone kos. I dont mind getting killed while exchanging fire, but when you take corner and someone just kills you, it's just pisses me off. So yes my gun is drawn always as well, waiting to shoot anything that moves.

Why? Pls explain. Isn't the whole point to brag what a bad ass i am, and not vice versa. Why would I brag about coming out for worse after every battle.

in one or the other way you're lying

well, if you insist on me posting a video of you shooting someone, i can't give you that

but YOU know that you posted BS up above saying you "never shot anybody"

and if you don't give a flying something, like you said, then just stop answering?

however-back on topic

killing people to survive is legitimate, if you see them as a threat, do so,

just don't be a paranoid guy killing everything on 500 meters, though

it's also okay in my eyes to kill someone if you need food or drink, and they might have some, especially if you are around coast parts where everything is allready looted

from time to time, i even kill coastiey, if they behave strangely, they still have their fists, and maybe some people over Teamspeak ambushing you, so i strictly denie coastlets following me

when i can spare stuff however, i ask them if they need it

No not really. But it is clear to me you only want to see this thing from one perspective so having a discussion seems futile.

Can we agree this game is about survival and that is is a fact there are other players with weapons? If you agree his course of action was not a very smart way to conduct himself.

I did hunt him down but I never said my initial motive wasn't to make contact. Once I saw him running around with his weapon up I made a decision to not take a risk with this person, I value my current character because I have been alive for a good many hours now (1 month), this is my first hardcore toon. (I'm actually still running around with most the gear I got from player pacific_coast -->http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/184031-confession-and-death-of-pacific-coast/

Having in-game interaction works 2 ways, if you act as being a threat to others what are the chances they will first try to talk to you?

And just to let you know, in 300 hours of play this is only the 5th player I killed.

Now if you really think I am completely in the wrong that is fine but please use arguments and not childish name-calling, thanks.

Nothing you said changes a thing. You hunted someone down for 15 minutes because he was not playing the way you think the game should be played.

Then AFTER you spent 15 minutes hunting down someone who was shooting quite a bit you decided that it was too risky to let him run around near you with a gun and you used that justification to murder him.

WTF did you think you were going to find when you chased down someone that was shooting? You murdered him because he had a gun and was near you. DUH! YOU knew he had a gun you were hearing him shoot for 15 minutes, and YOU put yourselof in close proximity to him.

Did you think you were going to find him in one of the apartments watching the latest Rambo DVD with the volume turned too loud?

My votes went right with the curve. Interesting the second one, the key word for me was "village", as opposed to airfield. In all cases, location really sets my mindset. I've shot unarmed people in certain places if they acted hinky, and wouldn't hesitate again.

1) I would watch him until he left the area. If he was walking around with his weapon raised, generally looking like he wanted a fight I would shoot him, otherwise I would let him pass.

2) I would watch them for a little while, maybe approach them, if not then just leave them be.

3) Kill with extreme prejudice. :P

It depends. If I can actually see that someone has ruined pants and shitty m4, it means I am too close to him. Also I act differently when I play solo or with friends.

If you had read the topic you would have seen I already admitted to that.

I was walking up to a guy literally 5 minutes ago, and I put my gun away as a sign I was friendly, he was yelling that he was friendly to, as he had his back turned, and as soon as I put my gun up, he turned towards me, said "lol noob faggot get wrecked"  Like every other shit wanna be bandit, he missed every shot, and I axed him to death.  Then he had the nerve to cry about me killing him after he said he was friendly.  Ahhh if only I was recording.

haha I murdered a guy with a screwdriver yesterday because he tried to shoot me with his shotgun. Gotta say it was stressful poking him full of holes and then running around like a crazy person while he bled out.

I wish I could add more detail to these questions because so many people will have different views for each questions scenario.

Sounds like u will kill anyone.....

1. I use an M4 never killed another player only stalked them and I have almost 200 hours in game. M4 is a good all around weapon. But I case 1 I would assume he was a bandit killing people at NEAF so yeah I would kill him

2. I say leave em alone....I dont get this "dont run with guns drawn" mentality. That just leaves u open to camping bandits who sit at the base of the stairs in places like the ATC for hours just waiting to pop the first guy who runs in. Better safe then sorry.

3. I would kill the snipers at NWAF...but NWAF is really the best place for gear. I can run there in under an hour and get geared up in 3-4 runs through the place and often even on 20 man servers I am the only one there. The coast is the killing fields and most exp players will tell new players to get off of it...the way you describe it sounds like you KOS just about anyone....

More fun to stalk and watch your prey IMO only return fire when you need to. Live longer that way.

Nah, I don't kill fresh spawns if they don't run at me like zeds. And actually, if I have a secondary weapon, I almost always give them to people without weapons if I meet them. Give a guy that is no danger a weapon with ammo, he will be your best friend. Leave him alone, he will come back and kill you.

So I see 2 options, kill the guy, or give him so much that he has no reason to kill you. Simple as that. If someone has something to lose, I will most likely kill him if we are confronted and if he is a danger (any firearm). There is no reason for me to take the risk.

And yes, if you haven't drawn your gun, you will be exposed to bandits. But if you have drawn the gun, you will be exposed to everyone. This game is all about spotting someone first. If you are spottet, you will most likely die if the other guy is no idiot, and if you haven't seen him. So I guess, if you havent played the mod, you have not enough expirience to judge this. Maybe you had luck, but what I have expirienced, nope, I will not take the chance. Especially in a game that is all about killing each other.

Nothing to lose:

#1 say hello

#2 say hello

#3 avoid

Fitted out:

#1 say hello

#2 avoid

#3 avoid or kill

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/187439-day-of-exceptions/

I find that my play style changes based on how much effort I've had to put into the character...

If I've spend hours looting and avoiding being shot at, I don't really want to play that much

if I've recently been killed, then I don't care, I'll raise my hands and say hello and perhaps make a new friend.

Once they add persistent storage, my game will get a whole lot more fun.

All this poll tells me is. If you're a sniper, and you're found out, you gonna have a bad time.

Wont kill fresh spawns unless surprised.

all others are fair game if I die I die shooting not trying to "friend" it never turns out

All three examples are people with guns, those guns being capable of killing me, so yes they are all threats to my group as well as my personal safety, so I reduce the threat of me dying by removing said threat and killing them, people barely kitted out are only looking for better gear, people with only pistols would be looking for primaries such as the ones my group or myself are using, and the kitted out guys would do anything not to loose the gear they have on them, so all share the same intent of bettering themselves and surviving, meaning it's either them or the group I'm with and even if I was alone.
