emigrates 261 Posted May 4, 2014 So, following information on reddit and the rules here I decided to contact various GSP's requesting action for them to enforce the DayZ ToS (Clan/Loot servers). I emailed a large list of various IP's with their names to several GSP's and most of them replied with either "None of these servers belong to us" or "We'll contact the various server administrators right away". This response, from Multiplay however caught my eye;

OrLoK 16186 Posted May 4, 2014 Am I the only one who thinks it's a bit strange that DayZ development would have their own publicly hosted server like that? Hello there The devs do have their own servers where they test things out. No conspiracy. Except those servers are full of Lambos and hoes which we drive day and night. And the cars. emigrates 261 Posted May 4, 2014 No talk about paranoid. No one mentioned the word? May I ask for what you reported that server? For having the name "Test Server"?Being locked, I read on here that server admins may not have the ability to put a password on the server and since playing DayZ I've come across a few locked servers. I would also be under the impression that any server the developers use would be privately hosted and not publicly listed.

There are still some servers out there they use for testing, like the one you mentioned there. I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if it's a devserver. Actually in the last experimental I saw one experimental server that was always locked. So I assume with as small as the DayZ team is they are forced to rent a few servers. Probably most of the in house BiS servers are probably devoted to Arma 3 development atm. Though I would be curious why they haven't bought some gaming rigs that can run a LAN server 24/7 for testing purposes. If I got paid minimum wage, and the group wasn't in new Zealand (so they would have horrible lag) I would gladly let them use my computer for a direct connect server through evolve or something.
kakysas666 191 Posted May 4, 2014 I noticed a few clan servers with password too. I mean, sometimes they are free, you can join loot etc, and after an hour an admin joins, kicks everyone and locks the server (puts a password). It was a german server, by the way. And since there are huge money involved in server hosting, providers will NEVER react to complains. It is against their interests. Who cares that some guy can not join the server because it is "DONT JOIN = KICK Char DELETE", they already sold it to a noob admin and got his money. Why should they care? Why should they care?Because it impacts their image negatively, and thus people will stop renting from and hurt their bottom line. Usually, most server companies don't have the money and manpower to blow off everyone and continue putting out sub par products like EA and activision do. OrLoK 16186 Posted May 4, 2014 Hello there FYI, I dont actually "know" if that is a dev server, but be aware we are looking into it :) Rgds LoK

Why should they care?Hello there They do react to complaints. If they dont appear to be acting, just contact us through the usual methods and we will check. The trouble is that *some* admins feel its "their" server and so they can do what they like, so although many are warned and indeed "shut down" others crop up. This is all part and parcel of this bedrock test phase. Rgds LoK

Ghostflux 100 Posted May 4, 2014 I'm kind of hoping that reporting servers will become a bit easier. There are plenty of "do not join" or "only PvE" servers that really have no place in DayZ. I honestly wish that they'd be removed from the public server list. Because right now I can't really trust any server except official ones.
emigrates 261 Posted May 4, 2014 Hello there FYI, I dont actually "know" if that is a dev server, but be aware we are looking into it :) Rgds LoKThank you! It's great to see some feedback to reports, I'm not sure if the rest of the community shares my opinion here, but it's greatly reassuring to hear from yourself. Perhaps, if not done so already - assigning someone/team to directly deal with hosts that aren't enforcing the ToS. Aha! This is why the Devs are all armed to the teeth and go around in Press VestsSelf protection! I like it! I'm kind of hoping that reporting servers will become a bit easier. Because right now I can't really trust any server except official ones.It would be great if there wasn't an easier option, but I'd prefer focus to stay on game development. As I started playing the game I preferred the option of just surviving, staying away from the gun fights but once you get into a group or a clan there's a lot more to the game in terms of just wandering around searching for food. The servers that really get to me are the "character reset if you join servers", it's almost as a threat and to anyone who may be new to the game it can be really off-putting. pale1776 375 Posted May 4, 2014 Guys, the devs probably have a few of their own so that the asshats which make up most of the game wont douche them while they find bugs and test things.
