JKS-Alex 79 Posted May 3, 2014 Ok i've just noticed that i was drunk when i've read last patch note and this:Ongoing melee balancing has zombies more resilient to body impacts. (Aim for the head) Was not a feature but a bug. -_-'The point is: do you like the zeds now or do you think they are too strong?
meat pie 632 Posted May 3, 2014 When do you *not* aim for the head with zombies? nut shots don't work just so you know.
Gruntt 10 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) I like them now, you really have to think about that raid into town when alone is it worth it to just bypass or risk letting of a shot or 2, not good having multiple Zeds harassing you. it makes it better to plan stair escapes and building stalks. massacrorBKK 64 Posted May 3, 2014 Agree with Gruntt. Looting a village should never be a labour of love, especially when you are alone.
MetapoliC 263 Posted May 3, 2014 It's like in game Left 4 Dead 2, expert - realism mode. You have to shoot in the head, otherwise you can waste the whole magazine shooting a zombies body. That is what I want from DayZ. Shooting zombies in the legs untill the bones break and they can't run anymore or aim for the head. Walking through the walls must be fixed thou.

gwartham 13 Posted May 3, 2014 Makes no difference, took most of us 5 minutes to adjust to the new zeds, they are back to being nothing more then a nuisance again.
Smokey420 (DayZ) 74 Posted May 3, 2014 since they walk through walls and are glitchy as fuck, id like them to be nerfed down. if they weren't glitchy, i'd be fine with the zeds in the current state
Deathlove 2286 Posted May 3, 2014 We need to change the title of this to "Save Zelda" cause somethings always going down with that woman! >.>
Pazzmon 64 Posted May 3, 2014 I'd like to see a lot more zombies, really isn't enough of them to become a serious factor. It's currently too easy to go round the game without paying the zombies much attention, I'd love to be able to get clustered over by a group of twenty/thirty zombies. calabam 55 Posted May 3, 2014 until the zeds are working 100% they should be basically be 1 -2 shot kills with an axe currently i can kill them faster easier with my fists by dancing about and pummelling their heads in why they insist in fucking around with something like this until there near a working state just plain baffles me , for example last night i had prolly killed piles of Z's while playing next thing its like one teleports behind hits me and am dead hours of a toon down the pan .. thanks
Ghostflux 100 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) With all the desyncing that the guaranteed messaging system brought. The zombies are now more dangerous awfully annoying than ever. You sometimes get teleported straight infront of a zombie. One hit and you either are bleeding, or it ruins your pants. I'd rather have them weak and useless until they manage to fix basic issues such as wallclipping and desyncing. I do like the idea of zombies requiring headshots to kill, when the game is actually somewhat stable. Edited May 3, 2014 by Ghostflux
zeroy 240 Posted May 3, 2014 There are new methods that work well to get them easy. Use a bayonet or machete in first person and go for the head, they fall and come back up twice maybe 3 times then they are dead. You can easily do that without getting hit a single time. Do not carry valuables in your chest clothing as even one hit can get them ruined...

JKS-Alex 79 Posted May 3, 2014 Don't bother with the machete, learn to one hit zombies with the fireaxe, it's much much faster. It is actually impossible have a good aim with fireaxe coz of lag, glitch and the swing animation of axes but i like it, axe must not be a good weapon for aiming, btw small weapons are became pretty useful, i was using knives and bayonets before last update for indoor fight and now i'm using just them cause they are really accurate, so the fireaxe for me is now useless and maybe you must be the one who need to learn how to aim ;)The pool in effect comes after this thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/190941-melee-weapon-slot-change/
zeroy 240 Posted May 4, 2014 Don't bother with the machete, learn to one hit zombies with the fireaxe, it's much much faster. And its very hard, at least for me, even on first person. With the machete/knife is very easy to hit the head everytime. Besides, I dont like carrying extra weight and so I don't carry an axe at all now. Best for lying down sniping too and makes you look overall less of a threat (debatable I know... )

JKS-Alex 79 Posted May 4, 2014 Needs 3rd option: Actually make them a threat. they can still fix glitch then simply raise the number of zeds, i think they are actually few so we can easly detect how are they reacting and moving to understand what's changing in their AI at every update, that will be pretty impossible if you are attacked by a horde of zeds, but i really hope in the future we will havo to deal with more then one zed at one time and there will be occasions where you will be forced to extract and fire with your weapon and then run away so this will finally be survival ;)
bodybagger2430 59 Posted May 4, 2014 Needs 3rd option: Actually make them a threat.I disagree, as I have said there doesn't seem to be a silver bullet to fix this problem. This is one thing that is on the road to fixing them and making them a threat, we just need to tweak other things at the same time and see what works. bodybagger2430 59 Posted May 4, 2014 Poll needs another option for varying damage depending on location. The infected should take more body shots to kill and instant kill headshots for most weapons (keeping it realistic to an actual infected human's health etc.) but the number of hits should varry depending on the weapon. For example the axe should be 1 to 2 body hits and one head hit because it is such a devastating weapon, where the baceball bat should take 5 to 7 body hits and 2 to 3 head hits since it is a blunt object. And military zombies with helmets should take 1 to 2 extra head hits to kill.I was just thinking about this actually. I carry a baseball bat now for fighting indoors and for outdoors cause it has a nice predictable swing. Beaning beaned in the head as hard as you can with a baseball beat will most likely kill you or at least leave you with severe brain damage. Huh, perhaps power attacks that will always one shot a zombie (KO a player) on a headshot but tire you out extremely quickly, and can't be used again for X seconds or so? Deadicated96 0 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) At the moment, I'm quite well kitted out so the zombies are relatively easy yet challenging to handle in close quarters. But to a fresh spawn, it's kinda difficult to fight them without a decent melee weapon. They're also a bit too fast, as they can catch up to you quite quickly, which I'm not too keen on. This is more of a glitch/one off but yesterday I got killed by a zombie in a single hit, I was healthy and not bleeding etc, but I lost everything because of it! JKS-Alex 79 Posted May 4, 2014 Imho zeds must be the major threat in DayZ cause it need to become a survival from the virus plague., so any upgrade to them it's welcome ;)
Katana67 2907 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) It would make more sense if the melee system wasn't akin to "vaguely waving a butterknife in front of you". I'm all for making zombies a threat, but this is a piss-poor way of doing so. Especially now, with very few alternatives made worse by glaring issues (i.e. few working suppressed weapons, lack of stealth, and instantly respawning zombies).
