Grimey Rick 3417 Posted May 1, 2014 The best part about 2160p in DayZ is that it looks no better than 1080p.
kichilron 8550 Posted May 1, 2014 The best part about 2160p in DayZ is that it looks no better than 1080p. It would be hard to notice without the proper screen and especially not watching videos over YouTube.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted May 1, 2014 Yeah. When I bought my new video cards I was debating on buying a 4K monitor. I watched a friend of mine play DayZ on his rig with dual R9 290Xs and decided against it. Now Battlefield 4 is another story... I still might have to invest in one for that game. <

terminal_boy 860 Posted May 3, 2014 You know, I've spent hours tinkering with the video settings in DayZ and still can't find any setting that goes up to "Ultra"...
Tatanko 5591 Posted May 4, 2014 It would be hard to notice without the proper screen and especially not watching videos over YouTube.Even given that (which is totally true), I really doubt there's much benefit visually. Have they really optimized the game at that resolution, for example? If you have the hardware capable of running it at ridiculously high settings with an acceptable FPS, then I guess there's no reason not to other than power consumption. In fact you can run 4k 3d resolution in Arma II and III aswell, its been a part of the engine for quite some time and its absolutely gorgeous. Its not a proper 4k resolution, the window resolution is still 1080p max, but you can render the 3d in 200%, which is equivalent to 4k, without having a 4k screen :)But to answer your question, nothing in this game is uptimized yet, especially when it comes to clients, they started work on the server now, but client optimization is way out in the future. Have a look below, its a thread with 4k 3d resolution pictures, the game is truly beautiful, if you can run it at those specs.http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/186729-maxed-graphics-4k-resolution-screenshots/
DayzBrothers 16 Posted May 4, 2014 Looks nice but no one needs that.
JonEllisDee 26 Posted May 4, 2014 The visual impact of downsampling is huge and it is really cool that RV gives you the option to do it nice and easy, usually you gotta do it via external applications or drivers. That said, rendering at 4K is only useful to take screenshots at the moments, I get around 5-8 fps rendering 4k and killing zombies at that framerate is not fun xD Looks nice but no one needs that. Speak for yourself, YOU might not need it but I do.
