Can we get an option to spawn away from a town if we lose connection / the server restarts while we are in one?

Recommended Posts

Whenever I load into DayZ, I have to wait around 4 minutes for my FPS to get steady. During these 4 minutes, I am completely vulnerable.

Today I lost connection in the Solnichniy factory, so I joined another server, ran into the factory at 4 - 5 FPS, waiting for it to jump up to the normal FPS, for a guy to knock me unconcious as all of my shots failed to connect.

This would also prevent hopping into bases into the future. Perhaps we can spawn in the woods or something when we log on, near the area we were at?

For people like me, while things are loading in, I don't want to be at a huge disadvantage, and get killed by some cocky freshspawn as I just have.

Sure, you may say, "git gud", but I can't stop the game from lagging as it loads in, and I knew this was going to happen, but I had no choice but to load into another server.

I even tried to explain this to the guy who was about to knock me out but he didn't seem to care.

If your fps needs time to "stablize" there is something wrong with your PC. I never heard of such a phenomenon before where a game needs time to run smooth. Either it works or it doesn't. Have you checked you system? That would be the first thing i'd do if it runs unstable.

I agree entirely. Had this happen to me after losing connection inside of an airfield prison. Logged back in, and put one bullet into the bastard before his last axe hack took me out.

Or not everyone has a 1000$ gaming rig, and DayZ's desync spikes when you first log in.

I agree, it would stop many problems.

I've personally never lost connection in a server, but one time my friend was on top of ATC and he lost connection while walking and somehow he walked right off and died. We saved his stuff, but still it's quite the annoyance.

I don't have a $1000 gaming rig, nowhere close to it but I am not having fps issues on log in, only the desync issues. I even tried standalone on an back up rig I have that uses DDR2 memory with no fps issues

Hello and I have to comment this to make you understand that it is not rly possible.

First of all, your PC is having problems. My current PC for this game is bad: E6600, 4GB DDR2, 550Ti 1GB (I know it slows down my CPU) I don't want to annoy you by explaining to you how to fix your PC but I will say that I'm connecting to servers instantly, without any FPS drops.  Four minutes is way too much mate, not exaggerating?

Your idea to spawn somewhere near the location we log off is bad man. Imagine you log off in the woods and the game shifts your position into a house or right on the middle of the main street. Imagine you are at the NW airfield :D

Devs should make it smart and block the spawning points inside the houses or such but you if you've played this game enough, you know how buggy it is. That code must be overwritten/modified and before it will happen, there will be no such systems implemented.

Most of the players will surely say they want to log in where they log off. The oposite will be said by players which are losing connection but again... The problem is the internet connection, the PC and sometimes the game servers. From my own experience I can say that I don't have any problems. Sometimes I'm joining some laggy servers but even there I don't lose connection.

I could see people using it to leave combat and re-log just outside of town for an advantage over their opponents..

Thats unfortunate, that happened to my buddy a while back and he hasnt played since.

His build is a little outdated though.. Perhaps a couple new computer parts might solve your problem?

Ive always thought we should have a random spawn on each log in.. regardless of where you log out, you're logging in somewhere else.

No server ghosting, loot-server hopping, etc.. Fixes a ton of things and makes the game a little more exciting to me. You always have to figure out where you are when you spawn in = good idea to me.

It wouldn't make any sense, and what if you were playing with a group? Should you really have to find your group every single time you guys want to quit? What if your game crashes/power goes out, should you lose all of your progress?

Also, combat loggers would essentially get a free pass to safety by having this.

This would create more issues then it would solve by far.  Don't ask for them to change the game just because your trying to run it on a Tandy computer with the equivalent of a dial up modem.  This isn't a game issue, it's a computer issue.

Again, assumptions.

I don't have a dial up modem, and I'm not running it on a Tandy computer.

I have 200kb/s download speed, 40kb/s upload speed. I can't do anything about this (rural location), so I don't blame the game.

I'm not assuming I WAS exaggerating though.  Clearly you don't have a system that can handle the game (in Alpha it's not optimized for sure).   If it takes you that long to get your frames up the problem isn't with the game.  I understand the problem, my friend (brand new nice system) loads in faster then me for sure, but I don't load in near as slow as you are talking about.  Again it's not a game issue, it's your computer's issue.

Erh, no, this PC can run the game fine after loading in, not necessarily top notch, but playable.

Well if it's playable to you that includes the loading in "issue" because asking for a major game change without really thinking about what could happen if it's actually put into the game just because your computer doesn't load the game fast enough isn't really the best idea. IMO.

I have to assume you're massively exaggerating the 4 minute load-in time. That's a very long time. My game drops to about 1 fps for 5 - 30 seconds when I'm loading in but then becomes perfectly playable. 4 minutes is excessive.

Can't say I'm a fan of this idea, however. Somebody could alt-F4 to simulate a crash and then relog outside of town. Just makes it easier to ghost.

Sure it'd make it easier for players who genuinely lose connection, but I think the drawbacks are not worth the convenience.
