More sniper rifles

Oh well, if you're going to bring skill into it, then I want ranks for everybody too.  And high score tables.

I meant skill as in you have to learn how to use it, not leveling up sniping. Jesus Christ.

Far as I'm concerned, they could take out all but the mosin and the M 4.

There's no need for half a dozen rifles that can shoot 700m +.

It would only result in more out of the blue "you are dead" screens.

Anybody shooting at unknown players from beyond comms range is likely to be a kos player.

Do we really want to encourage that crowd with more sniper rifles?

People are killing people just fine without long range weaponry. Have you seen Berezino.

Maybe we shouldn't have very powerful sniper rifles, like ones with thermal scopes and we should have some less powerful ones, If powerful snipers get added they should be extremely rare

 

As long as they add wind effects like in ACE and proper bullet trajectories i don't mind long range rifles, most players can't hit the broad side of a barn at 100m anyway.

Yeah, I think Dean said the weather is going to affect people now, so I guess that means wind can push you around and change the direction of bullets.

I hope they don't screw up the scope and add zeroing this time unlike in vanilla where the rifle that is most obvious to have a fast range estimation and zeroing capability doesn't.

 

It should have zeroing. The reason is had no zeroing in vanilla was that it was a leftover from ARMA 2, where like in the original Operation Flashpoint, there was no adjustable zeroing. Zeroing was added in Operation Arrowhead but not for the SVD, DMR or many other "legacy" guns.

 

The PSO-1 has an elevation turret with settings out to 1000 meters

They did it more correctly in ARMA 3 with the Rahim... I was pleased to see that. I would be very annoyed if they did it wrong in DayZ, because this time there's no excuse for getting it wrong.

 

The Rahim's scope has zeroing to 1200m

Technically the reticle is supposed to move around the scope (like in ACE), but I can forgive the lack of this feature because it would require much additional work...

 

They already have the zeroing system from Operation Arrowhead, and their SVD is brand new, not an old leftover from 2009.

Generally I'm against this idea and the SVD is gonna be added eventually. More over I hate the addition of more military issue sniper rifles, have something more along the lines of civilian hunting rifles. I'm pretty sure at some point in development, the Dev's may make the B95 compatible with the long range scope or give its own scope.

 

Overall I think this games needs FAR less modern Military based weapons and more civilian hunting/target weaponry and old military surplus (like the G98 currently in development).

I totally agree but the SVD in particular is just so jizz tastic who could deny its presence in any game ^_^

Any weapon would be good to see..

 

But my fear is that after all weapons gonna be updated, many and many and many people will play only with a sniper rifle and would be only a sniper game.

 

Everyone will go to get military equipment on bases, will do server hopping on low population servers to find loots,  and after that they will find a position to camp and sniping.

So that as less people will hold regular firearms! And on a real post apocaliptic scenario i think there should not be lot of survivors with ACR, M4 and other stuff that you can only see in the movie NAVY SEALS....

It's  only a my opinion but: As many military loot will be added, as lot sniper rifle will be added....as long on a populate or quite populated server everyone will camp on a building or in the woods, pretending someone is gonna move...

And if you die?

First thing to do is going inside the insland and go to a military base and loot the stuff to compete with the others....and the clubhouse goes over and over again.

Don't forget that DayZ SA shuold be like the mod so there should be Dragunov, as50, FN fal, ARC. I don't know why do you hate more modern weapons If you think logically a zombie apocalypsis would be in a more modern world=more modern weapons from the dead solidiers.

The "Dragunov" is the SVD.

Also, the FN FAL and SVD are not modern weapons (FN FAL appeared in the 50's and the SVD in the 60's). Sure, you've got modern variants of them, but they aren't really new.

I don't think they can justify adding an AS50, nor an ACR. The AS50 is only used by a few military forces, and even then limitedly so in them, and the ACR hasn't been adopted by any military force on Earth, because it was a prototype rifle.

Since hunting will be added into the game some day, I now think that we should use more hunting style weapons. get an old world war 2 rifle and give it a scope.

Exactly.

But Chernarus does have a military that would've been supplied by the US military after the war with the ChDZk, hence M4A1s and HMMWVs. They could pretty easily justify adding an M16A2, Beretta 92FS, M249, M240/M60, and maybe an M79 or M72 LAW with that.

However, I'd like a Tokarev TT-33, Makarov PM, AKS-74U, RPD/RPK, PKM & RPG-7 alongside their American counterpart.

Less sniper rifles. More automatic/semiauto rifles.

More bolt-action rifles/semi-automatic rifles compatible with scopes.

Just have the scopes themselves be rare.

I can agree with you to a point, although some of the weapons you said I think should be older or "outdated" american equipment. Perhaps have the M16A2, 92FS replace the M249 with an original FN Minimi and just stick with the M60, M79 and M72 LAW. Overall however I think that Russian style weapons should be much more common, especially the older "surplus" weapons like the TT-33, PM, AKS-74U, RPK and RPG-7.

Ye, but my fear is that everyone will only play the game for loot and camp as hell, pretending someone walking on your way to be sniped. Using a Mosin it's a question of skill....but if everyone will run for a dragunov it would be like playing a 5vs5 on Counter Strike Global Offensive and try to fight against 5 Scar-20 sem-auto sniper rifles which they are camping.

 

And another my fear is spamm of grenade launcher, everyone inside a building behind a corner is dead.

 

This because everyone will run for military loot and no one in the game will be anymore a common bandit or a survivor.

Even though I think we should have more sniper rifles, I don't want everyone to be camping at a place like sniper hill in electro or on top of a fire station. Once I ran into electro with a friend and there were sooooooooo many snipers! we should have more sniper rifles but make them more rare... and the ammo even more rare

Why more snipers when we don't even have SMG's yet.

Shotguns are far more common than snipers too, next sniperish rifle I'd like to see would be proper civilian hunting rifle.

We got the SVD on the way, possibly MP5 as well as AKM and P38.

Mainly, but if they were going to use the "US supplied chernarus" then we'd likely see a few modern weapons.

Obviously Russian/eastern weapons would be the majority of weapons, but there are quite a few perfectly fine and even necessary western weapons.

I really want an RPD in the end, for whatever reason, it's just a cool gun.
