player cadavers coming back as zombies!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Wouldn't it be nice after being killed to come across yourself as a zombie, of course this would not be possible if you died from a head injury.

Anywho let me know what you guys think

Cheers Koops

Actually, in an idea world, I'd prefer it that you couldn't respawn back into the same server after you've died - not for a good length of time, at least. It'd increase the perma-death effect and make it more realistic, so you couldn't re-gear off your own body; and it'd and penalise the shoot-em-up gamers who don't give a shit when they die.

But as to the main point of your suggestion, dead players turning zombie (only if killed by a zombie, mind) would be a great addition, as long as the game engine could handle it - and I don't know how realistic a hope that is.

Wow, that is an awesome and very harsh idea! So you'd get auto-kicked when dead and banned from the server for 10mins till the body times-out?

I believe this is the case with Arma 3 Breaking Point that your body will turn into a zombie if you were ultimately killed by them (and as long as you weren't shot in the head before).

Dead players stay dead once killed since their body is immune to the virus which doesn't reanimate the dead like it does in other zombie flicks but makes the living go crazy and attack survivors more like in World War Z.

The penalty is kind of a good thing since it gives death weight and value to ones life by putting a players gear out of reach for a while. Since stupid and stubborn people only learn by pain this would be one solution to counter the death matching situation , YOLO and "it's only a game" mentality.

Hello there

This has been suggested before and goes against the "cannon" of the DAYZ background and  history.

TBH I think, IF handled correctly, it could be an interesting mechanic.

Dont expect to see it in game though as vanilla.

Perhaps as a mod?

If that's true then why do our players not turn into zombies after being repeatedly punched / bitten? Are we all immune or is this something that might be planned later?

10 minutes? Call it an hour - or even longer. I'd love it if people really were prevented from re-joining a gunfight they'd been eliminated from, or new spawns making a bee-line to their old corpse to pick up the same gear. You're dead: you start again from scratch in a new server where you don't know the positions of specific loot or other players.

That'd be much better, in my opinion.

As i said, they didn't turn when they were alive because they are immune to the virus.

In most cases your body is gone anyway. We often burried those solo KoSers, just taking the essentials like food, ammo and valuable equipment, they DCed when they died most of the time anyway. Running in a group by chance and ending the shootout in a stalemate with casualties on both sides is worse since it's also difficult to get your stuff back because nobody wants to back off.

I always hated the fact that there'S really no "cannon" with the DAYZ background. (like our friend Lok stated) If you visit the official Wiki, it states that as a survivor in a zombie apocalypse, you need to defend yourself against those said zombies. But then again, if you follow the link about the zombies, it leads to the description of zombies: in commun cultures and folk stories and references to the George A. Romero who defined the style. Yet, nowhere does it states that the "zombies" in DAYZ, are not "zombies", and are living humans that are infected with a virus similar to "rabbies".

Been playing DAYZ (mod) since summer 2012 and only learned about the "lore" of DAYZ and it's not dead "zombies" via the community and forums about 5 or 6 months ago. No where does those details are "officialy" shared somewhere. From logical point of view, we shouldn't call those infected humans "zombies" at all.... And why all the players are immune? A mystery.

I love DAYZ SA, and all the various mods, but the lack of official background story or details as always been dissapointing to me. As we can clearly see, alot of players are confused when suggesting this or that and the community replies " No we can't because..." without "official" source material out there...

The only games I know who currently have this feature are The Dead Linger and Project Zomboid. I love that feature! :D

Edit: Official source: Dean Hall's words...

Apologies! Didn't see that you mentioned that we're all immune :p

if nobody is near your body the standard time-out is 10 minutes. It's longer if there are other players around a certain radius though.

I've suggested on a lot of other threads that you automatically change to a different server after death, one of a list of your creation.

Also, that it saves person who killed you, so you can track them through servers, seeking the ultimate revenge!
